For me, plushophilia is more than just a kink, it's the safest way for me to express sexual desire and achieve satisfaction in intimacy. My only regret is burying this part of me for so long. I knew what I wanted when I was younger, but shame kept me crawling back to men over and over again in hopes that I could be "fixed." I deliberately sought out "nice guys" and they repeatedly abused me. I wasted so much time afraid of my own desires, as if there was something criminal or cruel in sexually craving inanimate objects that can neither harm nor be harmed.

If there's anything to learn from my mistakes, it's that chaining yourself to a loveless relationship and cutting off parts of yourself to appease another person (or society's expectations of what you should be) won't actually fill the void or fix the loneliness, it'll just create a worse loneliness and open you up to being harmed by people who want to use you. You can only heal and be happy when you embrace who you are.

Like...I get the emotional reaction that some non-plushophiles may have, truly. I understand that it can be a squick, and that since plushies are mostly associated with children and childhood, sexual attraction to them can seem like a slippery slope into predation.

I just wish sometimes people would consider that this can be good for us. I finally started to feel alive once I became married to my bears and stopped chaining myself to human men in loveless relationships.
