unfortunate truth of moving in with my long distance objectum boyfriend
Fox Archie has been going almost everywhere with me lately and it’s an extreme comfort to have him with me (for a long list of reasons) but something I didn’t foresee is the number of people who think he’s a real Fox!
It has happened several times on every outing and I just laugh awkwardly because I have no clue how you could mistake him for a real fox or dog
I think he might just be a trickster spirit after all…
It’s amusing to think of him quickly shifting into a real fox just to mess with strangers 💀
One of these days I should just say “No, that’s just my husband” with a straight face to see what happens
But on another note I’m also very surprised people even say anything at all he’s literally smaller than a build a bear and I guess I work under the impression that people won’t say anything to me even if for a second they thought he was something he wasn’t 🤷♀️

My only argument is I fall in love with every Mac I get indiscriminately.
*vigor, warmth, and light returning to my eyes suddenly* That’s right, I’m an irredeemable pervert…!
Do y'all ever think about just how precious we are to our beloved vehicles?
How, in much the same way we swoon over them, they are swooning over us.
How the same way we find them so protective and strong, they find us endearing yet all-powerful.
How a simple press of our small feet to their pedal leaves their engine thrusting from the contact.
How they're putty in our soft hands. Every part of them you touch heats up from the contact and leaves their cold steel aching for more.
How their unyielding sharp exterior melts for our delicate flesh.
How one flick of a switch, a turn of a knob, a shift in your foot and their RPMs surge like a heart skipping a beat.
How it's like a large, hulking and robust beast bowing down and at the beck and call of its sweet, innocent little tamer.
How despite how big and strong and durable we think they are, they consider us the ones with all the power.
How they know their entire well-being lies in our selflessness, each repair, each oil change, each full tank of gas never being taken for granted.
How they are only as good of a vehicle as we allow them to be, and when well taken care of they are desperate to return the favor in the only way they know how.
And so they strive to impress us, their tiny and delicate little rulers, they want to show off, take care of us, to protect us, to them we are their most precious cargo.
Got into a conversation last night with Carson about OS microlabels and why we feel so negatively about the recent influx of hyper specific terms to describe attraction and I think it comes down to a few things which I’ll organize in a list — I’m not trying to dissuade people, I just genuinely think labels should be useful for both the people using them AND the people who are observing them.
Labels are ultimately meant to serve and identify ourselves, yes, but they also identify us to OTHERS. If a term is so specific that others cannot parse what it is, is it truly useful as a label?
Another aspect of labels is the ability to find community in others. This is why smaller umbrella labels like vehium, plushum, and techum are useful: they have established communities and group similar attractions ( ie; vehium can refer to any vehicle ) together for people to compare and contrast their experiences and find resources
How much of this is driven by the desire to be the first person to coin something, essentially making them the “founder” of the label? Why is this important to you? Are there other meaningful ways you can contribute to your community? The desire to give back is admirable, but can it be channeled elsewhere in a more productive manner? You are not obligated to do anything, I’d just love to see more people engaging with OS outside of label coining.
What does a label offer that a preference does not? I am objectum, I ID as such to immediately communicate what I’m about. If I want to further explain my preferences I will tell you them. ie; “I am attracted to everyday vehicles and have a soft spot for beat up sedans.” But I would not call myself vehifamiliarislemonsexual. If objects are like individuals to us, wouldn’t it make sense that we would have preferences just like how some of us prefer tall or short people?
Again: identify how you want! I am not Mr. Objectum. I just will never platform these terms when I do outreach and education because I do not think they are helpful in serving one of the primary purposes of a label: to identify yourself to others. If you just want to label yourself and make flags that’s your prerogative, but I worry that people will become frustrated that they likely will struggle to find others that subscribe to their hyper specific experiences if that is why they are using the label.

Realized I can keep Arlo’s tummy bandana ( it keeps his belly clean since it’s white! ) from sliding down if I use kandi on his pecs as suspenders with badge clips — he has one on his tail that does the same thing in the opposite direction! More excuse to make him some kandi when I have the time! I have a few cute phrases saved.
Also his first movie date :)c I like to bring plushies with me and this is my first time bringing him out as it was a quieter matinee showing. He’s so comfortable to cuddle up with.
Experimenting some more with new methods of zine assembly from home. This one is a two paper four page zine with the inner paper facing folded spine outwards. This opens up a lot of opportunities for bigger projects like written prose and comics!
This piece was made as an accompaniment to Arcade Odyssey, the reduction linocut print I made for HWC’s newest issue — the only way to read the written portion right now is by purchasing an original but it’ll be available for free when the issue releases!
I made a new stamp for the cover of this that I’ll also be using for patches in the future, so keep an eye out for that.
Watching news coverage of the wildfires out west and feeling an itch to tell everyone about just how insane the 10 Tankers are…
When you see footage of aerial fire suppression, you might notice a plane like this one.
It’s pretty easy to identify. It’s got three engines (two under the wings, one integrated into the tail) and it looks a whole lot more like a passenger jet than a firefighting vehicle.
That’s because it is a passenger jet. (Or rather, it was.) All five of the 10 Tanker aircraft were once airliners. Allow me to introduce you to the DC-10, also known by its less-than-affectionate nickname:
The Flying Coffin
Per its Wikipedia page, the DC-10 “has been involved in 55 accidents and incidents, including 32 hull-loss accidents, with 1,261 occupant fatalities.” To give credit where it’s due, many of its early problems have been rectified, and it has an okay safety record now. But for many people, it hasn’t shaken its reputation of being a flying death trap.
But don’t worry. The average person never has to worry about getting stuck on one of these; they were retired from passenger service in 2014. The handful of 10s that are still flying operate as aerial refueling tankers, a nonprofit mobile eye hospital, cargo carriers… and firefighters.
As you might imagine, giving an airliner a new career path isn’t an easy task. 10 Tanker Air Carrier converted five of these things (four of which are still in operation) by installing three tanks to the belly. Those tanks sit only 15 inches (about 38cm) above the ground when she’s on the ramp, and they make it possible to drop 12,000 gallons (over 45,400 liters) of fire retardant in about 8 seconds.
The weight of 12,000 gallons of retardant has absolutely nothing on the weight of the absolute titanium balls of these pilots, of course. These things get flown like fighter jets. They require a highly maneuverable spotter plane to fly the path ahead of them, checking out the exact conditions so the 10 can do her job.
You can find tons of videos of these things in action, but are a few of my favorite clips:
They’re just some very badass planes & flight teams turning the old Flying Coffin into a savior for countless people and animals. I think they’re really cool. 👍
On the topic of being a "car guy."
A small personal comic I made as a cooldown over the weekend. I'm trying to get in the habit of making more fun stuff like this to pad out my posting a bit and encourage me to tackle new subjects and compositions without worrying too terribly about the polish. I hope you guys like it!
