In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Anastasiia Strashko is a passionate student from Ukraine currently pursuing her studies at Nagasaki University. Driven by a deep commitment to fostering global connections, Anastasiia brings a unique perspective shaped by her experiences bridging Eastern European and Japanese cultures.

Having navigated the challenges of adapting to life far from home, Anastasiia has become a vocal advocate for international dialogue, resilience, and the power of education to transcend borders. Her journey is marked by a dedication to community engagement, intercultural exchange, and supporting fellow students in finding their voices abroad.

At TEDxDejima, Anastasiia will share her story of transformation—exploring how embracing diversity and overcoming adversity can spark personal growth and inspire collective action. Through her talk, she aims to encourage others to build bridges across cultures, celebrate differences, and contribute to a more connected world.

非営利団体 TEDxDejima（テッド・エックス・デジマ，代表金谷一朗）は2025年8月11日に講演イベント「TEDxDejima（テッド・エックス・デジマ）」を実施します．

TEDxDejima は米国 TED（テッド）本部の承認を受けて活動する団体です．

TEDxDejima の母体である米国TEDは「よいアイデアを広めよう (Ideas Worth Spreading)」「アイデアはすべてを変える（Ideas Change Everything）」を理念とする非営利団体です．41年前，カリフォルニアで4日間の講演会として始まって以来，世界を変えるアイデアを様々な活動で支援するまでに至りました．

TEDx とは，TED の「よいアイデアを広めよう」の精神に基づいて世界各地で独自に運営されているプログラムです．各地の人々が一緒になって TED 本体と同様の体験を共有することが出来ます．この各地で独自に運営されるイベントは「TEDx」と呼ばれています．「x」は独自に運営されている，ということを示しています．米国 TED 本部は TEDx プログラムのために全般的な手引きを提供していますが，個々の TEDx のイベントは（定められた規則と規制の元で）独自に運営されています．

Let's learn a foreign language for diversity! | Kumi Hoffmann | TEDxDejimaStudio

Kumi, a member of the original crew of NHK's ‘Let's Play in English’, encourages young people in Japan to learn foreign languages, because if you learn a foreign language, you can learn about the culture of that country. And learning about culture is the first step towards accepting diversity. Kumi, who was a member of the original crew for NHK's ‘Let's Play in English’, has worked as a news reporter, sports commentator, FM radio DJ, and MC for international conferences, and has also spent time in Germany, South Africa, the UK, and Russia. Being a teacher means inspiring your students | Takuro Maekawa | TEDxDejimaED

Takuro Maekawa, an English teacher at a high school in Nagasaki Prefecture, talks about the appeal of being a teacher. He continues to inspire his students through his teaching and theatre activities. His powerful message will encourage you to choose a career as a teacher. Nagasaki high school English teacher Takuro Maekawa is using the power of theatre to give his students a new sense of hope. Many of his students, inspired by him, are opening new doors in their lives and society. Maekawa introduces the appeal of teaching as a profession. Asami Terajima chose to become a battlefield journalist during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Through The Kyiv Independent, she continues to tell the truth about the battlefield. Asami Terajima is a reporter at the Kyiv Independent. She previously worked as a business reporter for the Kyiv Post focusing on international trade, infrastructure, investment and energy. Originally from Japan, Terajima moved to Ukraine during childhood and completed her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at William Woods University in Missouri, U.S.A. She is the winner of the 2023 George Weidenfeld Prize, awarded for “excellent investigative and courageous research activities” as part of Germany’s prestigious Axel Springer Prize. Born in Nagasaki and currently a senior at Nagasaki University. She was a student with a lot of inferiority complexes. With a desire to "change herself," she became involved in nuclear abolition and peace activities as a high school student. In university, she was inspired by the wider world through her experiences as a member of the Nagasaki Youth Delegation and One Young World Ambassador. Since then, she has been thinking, learning, and acting to change the high hurdles in social issues and peace activities. She enjoys meeting people the most and struggles to make a difference every day.

長崎出身で、現在長崎大学の4年生。コンプレックスまみれの学生時代。「自分を変えたい」という想いから、高校生で核廃絶運動や平和活動に携わる。大学ではナガサキユース代表団やOne Young World Ambassadorとしての経験を通じ、広い世界に刺激を受ける。以後、社会問題・平和活動におけるハードルの高さを変えるべく、考え、学び、行動を続けている。「人」との出会いをいちばんの楽しみに、日々奮闘中。
