This design is a re-rendering of 1887 illustration from a book entitled “Phallic worship : an outline of the worship of the generative organs, as being, or as representing, the Divine Creator, with suggestions as to the influence of the phallic idea on religious creeds, ceremonies, customs and symbolism, past and present” (now that’s a book title!)

When I this saw sketch I immediately thought of The Exorcist and the scenes in Regan’s shadowy room (…and a film whose poster features one of the greatest uses of a shadow every). This is what inspired this design. ENJOY.
