    Judai had jumped at the chance to technically get his degree while also not having to stay at Duel Academia.  His parents would pay for it too, since this was a very discerning internship program.  All in all, a great way to slack.

     Or so he had thought.  It wasn’t that he was physically tired, he could keep going for a long time after this, but emotionally? Exhausted.  It was fucking tedious cleaning this many windows.

    “Yes sir,” he responded, leaning to the left to reach the spot he had missed.  He wondered what Manjoume and the rest were up to right now, and felt a pang of longing.  If only he could be with them without causing them more harm.  As soon as he left Duel Academia, the feeling that he was going to hurt them badly had lightened up at least a little.

   “Do we have anything else on the schedule, sir?”

  “Multiply...?” his brow furrows.  “I guess I am kind of all over, huh?”  Judai laughs nervously, totally missing the point.

ok rundown of futureverse w/ @teenageesper because i gotta 

yusuke fujiwara has been about 20 for … way too long . soon after departing from duel academy , yusuke learned ( courtesy of honest & clear vice ) that beyond functioning as a bodhisattva , he also functioned as a primordial deity of balance as a middle ground between the light of destruction & gentle darkness . it means he doesn’t grow up , it’s a nightmare . despite promising to come back to visit his loved ones , the anxiety & stress from the knowledge that everyone else would age & eventually die took its toll , preventing yusuke from doing anything more than send letters — 

enter judai yuki , who is in the same predicament due to fusing with yubel . a fellow wandering heart , yusuke decides to tag along with judai , the two forming a close bond that goes fairly quickly from just travel buddies to something more . yusuke finds comfort in the fact that he won’t have to be alone in immortality , which is still not fun , but forever never gets boring with judai at his side . 

notably , yusuke never fell out of love with fubuki ( or ryo for that matter , or any other boy he’d fallen for ) , & sometimes wonders if he could get over his anxiety enough to just enjoy the limited time that he knows he’d have , even if just as a friend . 

yusuke’s travels with judai are mostly funded by his genius mind , constantly inventing or writing or sometimes doing art — & the fact that his parents were ridiculously rich & he’s just had that money sitting in savings since he was a kid , so that on top of the money from other things — 

while he seems pretty homeless , he has the family mansion to return to , & a part of him is scared , but a part of him wants to just form better memories there , maybe to override the sorrows of his childhood .

“I didn’t,” Jun scoffed, pointedly. “But Sho’s been going on about how he’s been taking notes for you since your attendance is even worse than usual, so he’s been trying to get them to you. Not like it’ll help you any.” He shrugged.

That wasn’t all of course. Sure, he and the others didn’t need him for anything specific, but wanting to make sure your friend rival was still alive was a perfectly valid reason to go seek them out. “I’ve been telling him it’s a wasted effort anyway, so feel free to stay down there for all I care.”

            “Shou is?” he blinks at that.  That’s... really nice of him.  He didn’t have to go to that length for someone like Judai.  “Tell him thanks,” he mutters.

             He walks up the beach, close enough to Manjoume.  “You’re right,” Judai stretches his shoulders- he’s pretty sore after all that- and smiles. “My head is pretty empty.”  Not to mention the foreboding feeling that’s been hanging over him recently.  Like something really bad is about to happen again, but he can’t tell what.  Call it instinct, maybe.
