You sit in the doorway of the Homestead, breathing in the cool, silent atmosphere of the pre-dawn Glade. The sun is just beginning to crest the massive stone walls--the first beams of its light land on the Runners, who are performing their daily stretching regimen in preparation for the day.

A warm, savory smell wafts through the air--Frypan's already down in the kitchen, whipping up a big, hearty breakfast to quell the wave of hungry Gladers that are sure to be lining up soon. You feel your own stomach beginning to gurgle, and you're not sure whether it's the thought of Fry's hash browns or just the fact that you skipped supper.

A rumble echoes through the Maze, the ancient-sounding roar of shifting stone, and the Doors begin to open. The Runners are already off, not a second to waste, Minho leading the pack. There's something comforting about their routine, the way they set off like clockwork each morning. That's part of why you get up before dawn, to give yourself a sense of regularity--to forget, for a moment, that you're a prisoner to these walls.

Dawn is breaking now, rays of sunlight poking into your eyes, making you squint. You can hear the stirrings of waking Gladers already--the day is about to begin. You take a deep breath, casting one last look over the peaceful Glade, and then turn and retreat within the Homestead.

oh the headcanons are headcanoning.

imo, Thomas would be either Hermes (fast, steals sometimes, often tricks WICKED) or Nike (good at literally everything for some reason. (could also be attributed to Hermes kids w the Jack Of All Trades thing they got goin on))

Teresa would be Apollo with her whole doctor thing, but book Teresa would be some sort of Athena or Hephaestus kid, with the whole "smart and freakishly good with coding" stuff

Gally would also be a Hephaestus kid, as he was a builder, and built strongly. though Ares is also a good pick with how aggressive/defensive he was, and the fact that he aided in the 'war' against WICKED almost as soon as he got out

Newt & Sonya would be children of Melpomene, as their entire lives were intertwined with tragedy, theyre the fandoms 'muses', and Sonya's relatively unnoticed

Aris would be Athena, as he's the "smart one with a plan" in the movies and the first to notice whats wrong with WICKED's complex, and in the books hes extremely smart and good at combat (from what little of him fighting we see in tst)

we dont get enough of Harriet for me to really decide about her, so id either go with Ares or Aphrodite's war domain

Frypan would be Hebe, as he seems the most nurturing, and cooking could be seen as a way he takes care of the other kids. and with pjo's child of Hebe powers (quick regen), they could be an excuse why he never really gets injured

Chuck would also be either a child of Hermes or Hebe, as hes playful and decently good at pranks (trickery domain), and hes also the child. and he never grows past being a child (rip) so.

Minho would be either Zeus (with the whole A7: The Leader), but i feel like that disrupts the lightning strike scenes because the only children of Zeus we see are immune to lightning, but he could be exempt from that, or Nike, as hes extremely competitive and good at almost everything, if not everything. though i do also really like the Ares! Minho idea

Brenda i feel like would also be either Apollo because she was a nurse in the books, or Ares or Aphrodite's war aspect again. Especially with the whole seduction thing she had in the tst books

Jorge imo would be Hephaestus, because one of the first scenes we see of him is him building/tinkering with radios. could also be Zeus with the whole leader thing he had before the Gladers and because hes a pilot

Vince would be Ares no doubt

then again all of them could be ares, considering theyre all soldiers and we almost never see most of them as anything but

in the TMR book, it shows Chuck telling Thomas news lf Ben's banishment, and says thats he's probably off to tell the other Gladers about it. So messenger

He's also the one who stays with Thomas the most, and tells him the most information, gets him food a couple times, all that jazz. so hospitality for travelers (because lets be real, the Maze was just somewhere Thomas was traveling. it was never a final destination for him, and was never meant to be one)

+ chucks pranks, which all of these adds up to Chuck being a Hermes kid!! though Hebe is also a very enjoyable amd sad idea
