Question for those of you who've read vigilantes - I've been thinking a lot about Aizawa and Koichi again today, and I'm curious about how you all interpret Aizawa's conversation with Koichi in chapters 59 & 65 in terms of like... what exactly was it in that moment that made him change his mind and made him decide to become a teacher after all?

It's obvious that Koichi and the future Hopper's cafe members have a big influence on him there, but I'm wondering what exactly that looked like for him internally. Was it that he saw his old dreams with Shirakumo reflected back at him through Koichi and the Naruhata crew? Did something shift around his insecurities about taking responsibility for things/people in that moment, and/or finally feeling like he might have something to offer besides just combat? Something else entirely or a mixture of those reasons?

I'm just interested in how everyone interpreted that scene!

#gonna be a bit nonsensical here so i'm leaving this in the tags LMAO #i'm not very good with words #i definitely think that he saw shirakumo reflected in them #honestly i think shirakumo was his primary motivation for a lot of things #but prior to these chapters i think he took his death as a sort of precautionary tale to not get attached to anything #he already had this idea of not taking in things if you're incapable of properly caring for/about it and it was pretty exacerbated by #their dreams being cut so short #like if he could anticipate that loss or pain and avoid it that would be his solution #which is 🙁🙁 something something avoiding heartache is also a form of it #he does still struggle with all the unhealthy habits he disguises as logic and rationality as a teacher #and the isolation... and the self neglect... and dodging every attempt to talk about shirakumo #but i think after this he realises he can help in a new way #it's still a precautionary tale but where he can prevent others from falling into the same fate shirakumo did #framing his entire mindset around this #“i didn't want them to turn out like you!” “i wanted them to turn out like you!”#to push them along the path of becoming a hero but to save them from self sacrifice #becoming the person that would've saved him and shirakumo back then #SORRY IF A LOT OF THIS IS VERY OBVIOUS STUFF but i do love this guy a lot and am very willing to talk about him forever LMAO #i really adore the way shirakumo's absence is felt so deeply in every aspect of aizawa's character #even one of the main parts of his design #the goggles #were given to him by shirakumo #yes they're a logical addition since they protect his eyes #BUT ALSO #there's a fairly recent audio where yamada and aizawa talk abt his goggles!!#he says they remind him of the fence on that rooftop #sooo so cute i love #shirakumo haunting the narrative time and time again #REALY SORY ABOUT THE LENGTH OF THIS 😭😭😭

People asking why Artemis II matters, lemme tell you

1. First woman to enter deep space, Christina Koch, went as a mission specialist to help test the preventative measures against the radiation that causes cancer in the ships, and primarily affects women. It affects men too but less so. Christina's literally so inspiring to me.

2. This mission and further Artemis missions are testing safety concerns to help push the boundary of what we've been able to explore up to this point. Safety is the primary purpose of the trip. This is the first step to exploring Mars and further planets! Including Europa (my beloved.)

3. Before this, only 24 humans have ever entered deep space. Of that 24, 5 are alive today and they're all in their 90s. We very much needed a newer trip to help confirm or change whatever information we had from years and years ago. Having 4 living testaments of space exploration is a very important part of keeping said exploration alive.

4. Even though it wasn't the primary purpose of the trip, we've gotten so many rare pictures! Including my favorite "Hello, World" taken by commander Reid Wiseman:

It's the second photo EVER to have a fulll illuminated Earth hemisphere, the first being "Blue Marble". All other photos of the Earth have been spliced. Blue Marble was taken during the day and Hello, World was taken at night (the exposure has been lifted for clarity). It's my new favorite photo, it's so beautiful.
