No more dreaming like a girl So in love with the wrong world
Dreaming State || Aluwyn & Willow
"You're Cecilia." She muttered to herself, standing in front of the mirror, in Cecilia's apartment in Brooklyn. "You're a librarian and you don't know Willow, except maybe you've heard tell of her abilities, because she's worthy of that. Of course she is." She adjusted her bra and slipped on a dress over her shoulders. She could get to know Willow in ways she'd never had the chance to do before now, and that was good. So so very good. She pressed her fingers into her forehead, in a vain attempt to allay any nerves that seemed to be arriving. How very human, to be worried about things such as those. How human, how foolish, how awful.
She slipped on a pair of simple flats. This was nothing more than a gathering of friends, though she deserved to have her Willow back, she had to be careful. Finding her had almost been too easy, and Aluwyn was aware that she couldn't hope to have everything else work as smoothly as the search had gone. Because she had to be human now, though Willow was deserving of more than some foolish human. Because she was more than that, and Aluwyn had been one of the first ones to show her such things. And she knew that she would show it to her a thousand times more if that was what it took.
She rolled her tongue around in her mouth and grabbed one of Cecilia's bags from the posts in the hallway and made her way out of the apartment and to the metro station. Cecilia seemed to have one of those monthly passes that allowed as many swipes and rides as one desired without having to pay any extra money to refill the card. When the time came to do that, Aluwyn knew she'd have to figure out just how to go about doing that, but until then she could venture to wherever she pleased with no trouble at all.
And the power that allotted felt so good. There were clearly ways to gain power as a human, and while they were not nearly as satisfying as the powers she had as a goddess, but they existed, and that was all that mattered, in the end. Power was power was power, and if Aluwyn had it, she intended to use it, and use it damn well. A small smile crept on her face as she boarded the train and found a spot next to a woman who had bags of books surrounding her and a man who smelled like fresh cotton.
She only had two stops before 4th Avenue, and so she took a deep breath and shot Willow a text --- 'be there soon' and settled back against the seat, watching how all the humans conversed and interacted with one another. Thinking that they were the very best in the world. Oh, how silly they were, how little they really knew. She gave a small shake of her head, letting her hair fall around her shoulders.
One more stop.
And then the doors opened and the automated voice on the train informed the passengers that this was the stop for 4th Avenue. Aluwyn exited the train, clutching her bag close to her body as she made her way up the stairs and back into the sunlit world.
Applegate café was right across the street from the train stop and she noticed a flash of red hair right outside the entrance. This was it, this was the big moment and she took a deep breath and made her way across the street.
"Willow?" She called out. "It's me, Cecilia." A careful smile crossed her face. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."

[pm] Me neither!
[pm] Excellent.
[pm] Oh, I, um…well, okay. I guess that’s okay. Yeah, yeah. That’s definitely okay.
Yes! We can! I’d like that. Getting to know you better. And stuff. Yeah.
[pm] Perfect, Willow. I can't wait.
[pm] And you can choose the location.
Anywhere you please. I’ll even pay, how does that sound?
[pm] What? Oh, no, you don’t have to! Really!
Umm, how about the Applegate Cafe? The one on 4th? They have really good muffins, I go there almost every morning.
[pm] Consider it a "thanks for chilling with me" present, hm? It's okay to use that expression, isn't it?
That sounds good. Perfect, even. :) We can get to know each other more.
temporaljubilation replied to your post: [pm] Do you want to grab lunch sometime this week?
[pm] How does Tuesday sound?
[pm] Perfect! Yes! Tuesday sounds perfect.
[pm] And you can choose the location.
Anywhere you please. I'll even pay, how does that sound?
[pm] Of course. I can be reached at [insert number here].
You do that, Willow. I’ll speak with you soon.
[pm] Thanks. Talk to you soon, Cecilia.
[pm] Talk to you soon, too, Willow.
[pm] Perhaps indeed.
I’m glad you’re safe as well.
[pm] Look, I gotta go now, but I’ll talk to you later, okay? Do you have a cellphone number I can reach you at? You know, in case the internet isn’t working or I can’t get online? I’ve gotta go do the helping people thing now.
[pm] Of course. I can be reached at [insert number here].
You do that, Willow. I'll speak with you soon.
[pm] I feel that way about you as well. It’s odd, but sometimes you meet someone and you just feel as though you’ve known them for such a long time. Life’s funny that way.
[pm] Maybe we knew each other in a past life, I heard that’s what that means. Not that I really believe in that kinda stuff. It’s ironic, really, that I don’t…
Either way, I’m glad you’re safe.
[pm] Perhaps indeed.
I'm glad you're safe as well.
[pm] Thanks.
Sometimes, yea, I suppose.
I will. And, it’s weird— I mean, I haven’t known you very long, but I feel like, I dunno, I have? I’m sorry, that was weird to say. I…Sometimes I think the world might have been better off without me, but I’m here now, and there’s really no way to find out, so I just, you know…give it my all.
[pm] I feel that way about you as well. It's odd, but sometimes you meet someone and you just feel as though you've known them for such a long time. Life's funny that way.
[pm] I’m so sorry.
But—I’m glad you’re fine. I’m sorry you knew people in the building.
It’s awful if you have to lose someone you care for in any way—-that’s happened to me before, and it’s not fun, not good, all around negative.
Just let me know if you need anything.
[pm] Well, the head counts still going on, so here’s to hoping.
It is, yeah. I— I’m sorry you’ve lost someone.
I will, thank you. Just— stay safe for now, okay? Who knows if there’s more bombs somewhere, or something.
[pm] Hoping all the hopes there are.
It's okay. What's lost can be found sometimes.
I promise to, so long as you do as well, Willow. Your life is worth it, and while I'm sure you're capable and aware, the world needs you.
willow-the-red replied to your post: [pm] Are you okay? Please tell me you weren’t anywhere in the city when the explosion happened. And if you weren’t, there was an explosion in the city. Are you okay?
[pm] Oh, good. I’m so glad. I just know that the library is close to where it happened and….I’m glad you’re okay. I’m fine…relatively. Not injured, at least. But I— I knew a lot of people in that building. I was elsewhere when it happened though.
[pm] I'm so sorry.
But--I'm glad you're fine. I'm sorry you knew people in the building.
It's awful if you have to lose someone you care for in any way---that's happened to me before, and it's not fun, not good, all around negative.

[pm] Are you okay? Please tell me you weren't anywhere in the city when the explosion happened. And if you weren't, there was an explosion in the city. Are you okay?
[pm] I'm fine, don't worry.
I was in the city, but I was not in an area that was majorly affected.
Are you okay, Willow? Do you need anything?

Do you think Manhattan is still safe even after all the bombings that have been happening?
I don't know.
I hope so, but I don't know.
Oh, pleasure’s all mine. Thank you.
And alright, I will. That sounds great. Once things settle down a bit, and the whole city’s not on red alert, I will. Stay safe?
You're welcome.
I promise. You stay safe too, Willow. And let me know if there is anything you need at all.
