[i also forgot to mention that i LOVED the scene where margot went to see hannibal and he had to persuade her to go through with killing mason; because she thought mason was going to permit her to have a child after all - the fact that she still had some semblance of love or trust for her brother and some reluctance to sever their bond absolutely DESTROYED ME because i’ve been writing about this all along. and i loved the stuff adapted from the novel (hannibal offering to take the fall for her, alana ripping out his hair for evidence, etc) i just wish we’d had more interactions with hannibal and margot really]

[just popping in after forever to say i got around to watching digestivo just now and i’m both happy and mad about it---]

---happy that mason got what he deserved, in basically the same manner as the book, happy with most of the stuff between mason and margot, happy with marlana.

MAD that fuller finally decided to reuse that whole uterus idea that he didn’t do in season 2 and make it even worse with the surrogate and the dead baby. personally, i found that scene pretty upsetting and though i believe mason would totally sink that low, i also don’t think it was quite... necessary? it seems the only reason the writers shoehorned it in was to give margot an instant catalyst for killing mason then and there, which of course i understand from a storytelling standpoint, but it just felt like another needless blow for her, after everything. i mean, we KNOW mason is gross and irredeemable already, it’s not like anyone was on the fence about that.

otherwise i didn’t mind how it turned out, though i still have a lot of issues with the season as a whole - it’s a shame it took this long to get an episode which moved forward with the action.

sidenote: interesting that they completely upped the incestual implications with joe anderson’s mason, it’s kind of nice (?) to see that all my ugly headcanons are justified. EW.

I’m betting they fully intended to air this scene and had to cut it at the last minute for Standards and Practices reasons. If they couldn’t use anything more suggestive than “button stitching,” I’m guessing S&P decreed this implication of oral sex was Just Too Much and they couldn’t rejigger the scene without those lines in a way that made sense.

The reason I think it was a last minute cut is two-fold. 

First, they released these stills of Margot prior to the episode. I’ve always been confused why we never saw her this way. Her comfortable position, not wearing one of her protective neck pieces, would go well with a Margot who thinks she’s taken control.

Second, in the “previously on” for the next episode, we hear the voice over of Hannibal saying “Was Will aware of your intention to get pregnant?” This use of dialogue that wasn’t aired (plus seeing Alana say that Freddie was investigating Will and Hannibal committing murders together in the same segment) is unique in the previously on format. So I think they’d already cut that, assuming the scene was in, and didn’t have time/budget/inclination to remove it before the next episode aired. 

Now I want to know why we didn’t get this in the cut scenes on the DVD, and what they put in to replace it.
