Carmilla rolled beneath the sheets, flipped herself messily onto her front so as to cower away from the sunlight peeking through the half drawn drapes that dared to cast a solitary stripe of daylight along her slumbering person. The desire to avoid the invading light was nothing strange to her, no matter how much sheâd come to enjoy the warmth of it on her skin as she basked in it.
Human or not, she supposed sheâd never be a morning kind of person, and the sporadic nightmares that had kept her tossing and turning ever since the day her mother had ascended could always attest to the fact.
    âIts disturbing.â
Ever since leaving Silas, many things had changed. Without either really needing to ask where the other wanted to go, Paris went from being a dreamland to reality in the blink of an eye. Their current place of residence was somewhere Carmilla used to stay (or so the journalist assumed), and even though the ex-vampire called it âless than idealâ, Laura begged to differ. Another thing that had changed was her schedule; despite the supernatural chaos that Silas essentially breathed, classes helped to form some kind of pattern: when to wake up, when to be somewhere. Now though, with almost nothing to stop her from sheer laziness, she found herself more than happy to basically follow her girlfriendâs sleeping patterns.
Carmilla, however, (thankfully), had not changed. Not...entirely, at least. Despite all the challenges and obstacles faced with being human, she was still as grumpy and overdramatic as always. Who knew complaining as often as Carm did could become something--dare she say-- cute?
âDownright unsettling.â Laura murmurs with a tired chuckle, barely suppressing a yawn before shifting herself so she could properly see and be amused by her girlfriendâs reaction. As odd as it would probably sound if voiced, she didnât really mind Carmillaâs complaints. Yes, a good majority of it was eye roll worthy, but it was part of a side that had been buried deep beneath the layers of defense and snark that had been built throughout the centuries. Now, Carm could focus on the important things--like complain about the amount of tourists invading her favorite cafe, for example.Â
âIf it bothers you that much, Iâd advise staying indoors all day-â She paused, a smirk beginning to appear. â-as torturous as that might be.â
