DREW FORGETTER
GENEVIEVE O’MALLEY
HELENA BOOGIE
LIAM GREYBACK
𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 | @untimelytales : roo king !
“HELLO, are you another mind worker?” Drew approaches the other, hesitating only slightly since he’s sure he’s never seen them before. Maybe he’s in another part of Riley’s body? The forgetter has never really ventured outside of the long term memory area and even when he tried to explore with Ice, it was never really far enough that he didn’t know where he was. Now, though -- now he has absolutely no idea. This has never crossed Riley’s mind nor has it ever graced the shelves of memories. He’s somewhere new, somewhere unfamiliar and he doesn’t like it.
“What part of Riley do you belong to? I’m supposed to be with the other forgetters but I haven’t seen them anywhere.” Drew wonders if they’re already talking about his absence, if they think him being gone is somehow his fault. The thought only makes him want to go back even more and the concern in trying to find the exit is quickly increasing.
“Or do you know which way is to headquarters? I think that’ll be the fastest way.”
𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 | @sweetillusicn : vasilisa chernabog !
THERE’S a rather sweet smell that filter through the night air. Drew follows it, remembering that Riley’s associated that specific scent with something so tasty that Joy herself would clamer on about it from headquarters. He disregards any notions of danger and even bypasses his confusion of just where he is at the moment. Right now, his goal is to find whatever that thing is and maybe it’ll bring him back to Riley’s long term memory.
His hunt leads him to a store-front. It’s filled with others but they pay him no mind as he navigates his way through a crowd. He’s almost got it, he’s sure of it, and in his haste, he ends up bumping against someone.
“I’m sorry,” Drew is quick to apologize, eyes finally focusing on the person in front of him. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you somehow?”

Despite the shadow that the other’s presence cast, Mara was somewhat surprised by the sound of the other’s voice. A brow was arched as they allowed their gaze to flicker upward, head tilting to the side in amusement. “It was just a joke. But, you do look like someone likely to hang out with worms. With that attitude, I wouldn’t be surprised if said worms were your only friends.” A chuckle fell from their lips as they allowed their gaze to drop back down toward the sketchbook, already scrutinizing the half-finished piece.
“Then again, worms in rotten logs as friends would be more than I’ve ever had.” Her nose scrunched up slightly at the admission. Her steady hand resumed its sketching before they shook their head in reply to the question posed, “No, I’m not from here. But I’m not sure where we are. Looks like every other boring town in America so it’s hard to guess a specific location.” They rambled. “What about you? Where are you from?” They had already met several people from unexpected places and couldn’t help but feel a twinge of curiosity.
-
SEEING as how she was a bag of insects like her father not more than twenty-four hours ago, Helena nods in agreement though the glare is still prominent on her face. “A joke is supposed to be funny,” she points out, but leaves out the fact that she usually doesn’t find anything funny. “And worms are much better company than most creatures I’ve met and that’s starting to include you.” She takes a peek at the sketchbook though she tries to hide her curiosity with a sneer. “What’s that supposed to be?” Oogie’s only ever found art in the games he conducts and Helena doubts that art appreciation would ever deem her a more respectable daughter.
“You have awful friends then.” She says this like it’s a fact as if she didn’t just meet this person moments prior. Worms in rotten logs are the worst ones. They’re too selfish, always keeping the most rancid part of the wood for themselves. The ones found under rocks are much better.
Confusion mixes in with relief at the other’s denial. Helena’s sure her father wouldn’t have gathered forces outside of Halloween Town and so where does that leave her now? “I’m from --,” she pauses. It could be a trap. It isn’t far fetched for Oogie to deceive her to getting even. “ -- from where you said. Amer . . . something. You trying to get out of here? I need a body -- er, someone to come help me find the exit. You in?”

THERE’S something familiar about her, something important. His eyes rake over her person and there’s something screaming at Drew that he knows her, that she’s someone important but the thoughts are too fast, too fleeting to grasp. There’s a magnetic pull; drawn in by someone he’s sure he’s never seen before. Surely if he had, she would live deep in his own subconscious but now, he feels nothing but a niggling itch under his own skin.
I’ve met you before, he wants to say. I feel like I’ve known you my whole life. But surely that’s absurd. Drew can’t drop this onto an unsuspecting stranger, not when he’s also trying to make sense of where he is and how he got here. And yet, there’s something deep in his being that calls out to her. You feel like an old friend.
“Hello,” he manages to throw out instead. “My name is Drew. Can you tell me where I am?”
𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 | @uuponastarr : lynette roche !
THE apple looks shinier up close; red pigment saturated in reality more than it can ever be in memories. Drew inspects the fruit, turning it over in his hand and marveling silently at how solid it feels. Mind workers don’t need food -- not the way humans do anyway -- and it looks like he’s given a chance to experience it firsthand. The excitement stays contained; his face gives nothing away but those that truly know the man could see the slight tremor as he handles the apple.
Drew stares at it a beat longer than necessary before taking his first bite. The flavor bursts in his tongue, his eyes widening in surprise at the attack on his palate. He tries to school his features back to a somewhat neutral expression. Does Riley always feel like this when eating?
“It’s juicier than I thought it would be,” he nods towards his companion. Hopefully, Drew doesn’t make himself look strange by experiencing a whole new sensation. It’s bad enough to find himself somewhere he doesn’t know; it would be even worse to find someone and ultimately end up scaring them away. “Have you ever tried this before?”

wilhelm took in a deep breath, not expecting to find himself in such a place. had a spell gone wrong? they’d been getting too greedy with the spells he was trying to perfect lately, so it could have been entirely possible that he’d made a mistake during the process. but, this place was in no way recognisable. he quickly decided that blending in and acting as aloof as possible would save his skin before they could make a more well-thought out move. he decided he would try to perform a spell by memory – whether or not he would be able to accurately recall the steps were to be seen – and needed a few ingredients. “you’re not entirely fond of your hair, are you?” they asked, his face deadpan but his tone hinting to something a bit more devious. “hair always grows back, so it wouldn’t be an entire loss for you to lose just a lock of it. perhaps a haircut would better suit you,” he suggested. @scatteredstart
DREW runs his fingers through his hair, surprised that it would be as soft as it is. Somehow it doesn’t fully compute that he is in this body now, but this person seems to ask about it with more interest than he does. “Would it hurt?” He’s seen enough memories of Riley during her toddler days to be a bit wary of people going for a cut. He remembers the way she wailed, remembers that it was one of the earliest memories he was made to forget.
“It’s just that . . . I just got this hair and I don’t know. I can give you a piece by the end if you’d like?” His curiosity runs rampant; wonders what the other would need it for. He doesn’t recall Riley ever asking anyone the same. And so he asks, “Are you going to use it for something?”

toby was used to finding himself in rather sticky situations before ( trouble came about as naturally to the young prince as breathing ) but even this was new for him. one moment he was on the outskirts of corona, atop his mare luna’s, back, and the next, he was somewhere entirely different. The dark-haired prince wasted no time using his unusual circumstances as a chance to explore his new surroundings, wandering through town until he ultimately found himself in the woods right on the outskirts of town. while wandering amongst the trees, the young prince heard a pair of footsteps echo from behind him instantly putting toby on high alert. his mother had always wandered him and his siblings about kidnappers, and until then the thought of one sneaking up behind him had never even crossed mind. without any hesitation toby spun around to meet the face of the person behind him his heart leaping out of his chest in the process. luckily, they didn’t look like a kidnapper, in fact they looked just as lost as he did. easing up a little toby shook his head in response.
“ hey, warn someone before sneaking up on them would you? “ he replied, a touch of playfulness sneaking into his tone.
GEN stands on two legs -- two -- with her fur gone, replaced with human skin. She tries calling out for her mother but her tongue feels too smooth, her teeth less sharp. Come now, Genevieve. There must be a simple explanation for all of this. Her surroundings surely aren’t the streets of Paris and there doesn’t seem to be anyone around. She’s just about to lay back on the ground and possibly wake herself from this odd fever dream when she senses movement paces away.
Without much of a plan, Gen follows the man and tries to think of how to ask for help without sounding a little insane. It’s when she finally finds the courage to actually speak up does the stranger turn to face her head on.
“I wasn’t sneaking up on you . . . okay maybe I was but I’m just trying to gather my thoughts, okay? Give me a minute!” She takes a moment, steadies herself, before getting distracted once more by just how long her fingers are. “I’m human,” she breathes out. “Do you know how?”
Bex could have sworn that this whole thing was some kind of practical joke. One of her siblings or cousins or whoever got their hands on something that could zap her somewhere, and any minute they’d finish their laugh and bring her back. So, she waited, and waited, and waited, and… She was still here. Why the hell was she still here? She looked around and saw that a couple other people seemed just as confused as she was, and she started walking toward the closest person. “ Does anyone have any idea what’s going on around here? ”

IN the midst of her adrenaline fuel, Helena hasn’t even stopped to notice her change in appearance. She looks . . . almost human. It’s a trick, a cruel trick that her father has somehow concocted. He is the epitome of nightmares after all. It wouldn’t be surprising to learn that he has taken his punishment of her growing success to a whole other level.
The panic starts to set in and it’s because of this that her knives stay sheathed when approached by a stranger. “It’s Oogie’s doing.” Helena’s voice sounds different to her ears; it’s the sound of a girl who is tired of running from hell. “You’re part of it, aren’t you? You’re just a figment of my imagination. How long until dad gets tired and offs me for good?”

THERE’S NOT A LOT that takes Margo for a throw. She’s not even so much confused as to what has happened — she wakes up from inebriated stupors all the time. It just usually happens she’s somewhere she at the very least mildly recognizes. Not in an unfamiliar alleyway, and definitely not in a town they’ve never seen before. There’s a sigh as she checks her watch, which for some reason was frozen at the exact time she remembered deciding to leave a party the night before. Perhaps they smashed it onto something on her way into the mystery city. She stumbles to her feet, brushing hair from her forehead out of her way. ❝ Does anyone have any idea when the next bus for New York leaves … or like, a train or some shit? ❞ They’re talking vaguely, hoping anyone that might be around will have an answer.
HIS wand twirls between his fingers, eyebrows pinched in concentration. “I’m not in Paris, London, or Rome / Take me right the fuck back home.” Nothing. Not even a spark. Hell, Liam was hoping that it would -- at the very least -- burn some brows off. “Hmm maybe . . . getting lost ain’t so pretty / drag my ass back to my city.” Liam swears his magic mocks him from within. How did he win the tournament again?
Pacing and muttering to himself, the wizard hopes that he’s not giving off any creeper vibes. Or fight me vibes. He’s not prepped for either. Liam’s just about to take another swing at a spell when New York reaches his ears.
“Hey!” He follows the voice, runs towards it like a maniac. “What borough are you from?”

oddie was taken aback for a moment, not sure how to react to the other’s hurt bottom. but, when he started to make a joke, they took it as a sign to laugh. “i wouldn’t ask to see it so publicly. i know it is a thing to be kept private, so i would ask to look somewhere more… indoors,” they clarified. they looked up at the mentioned tree, trying to judge the distance. they thought he got off pretty easy considering he could have landed wrong and broken something, but they saved him from that lecture. “you’re very calm about your shoulder – have you done this before?” they asked, carefully reaching out to feel his shoulder first to assess how to go ahead.
“i’m not worried about screaming – just your discomfort. take a deep breath for me and lay down. please, try not to tense up,” they instructed, taking a firm hold of the arm as they waited for the other to follow through. carefully, they raised it and followed the milch technique of relocating the shoulder – a much calmer and less violent way of doing so. of course, the sickening click could not be avoided, nor the internal feeling.
-
LIAM eyes the person, wonders if he’s being made fun of, and figures that the worst that they can do is actually break his arm in half so that should be the least of his worries. Still, he huffs as if insulted because it’s a very fine ass that should be made public for the good of the people. “Not always. Sometimes you just gotta let it all out for everyone to see. Sharing is caring, you know? Love thy neighbor. All that good jazz.”
The pain radiates from his limbs but Liam’s trying not to be a weenie about it. Internally he is screaming for death but he just met this person and that probably wouldn’t be a good way to start off a friendship. “I fell out of a moving car once. Does that count?”
There’s something to be said with the way Liam doesn’t even question the other. He stays put and tries to think of happy thoughts. A BLT with extra crispy bacon. Dogs chasing their own tails. Butterflies in the -- Sweet mother mercy. The snap is audible enough that an audience in a slam poetry contest would be proud and in an instant, the feeling of his arm comes in full force. “Am I dead,” his voice is hoarse but after a moment of not feeling eternal hell-fire, he readjusts his position. “Thanks for that . . . uh, shit. You just go around popping shoulders without introducing yourself first? The name’s Liam, by the way. Or guy who was almost James Franco-d, 127 hours style.”

“Well, aye dunno ‘bout you, but at least tha’ foods good,” Leith muttered, far from princely, around his mouthful of fruit pie. In his other hand, a dainty patisserie, something French, and something that looked far from anything familiar perched between his fingers. He’d lurked in the woods as long as his stomach allowed – but eventually, came back wandering the streets of the town, plucking items of display from the shoppe windows. “Oi - do you know what this is called? or even what’s in it?” Pointing at another fancily decorated mini-cake on display, he shot the passerby a curious gaze.
HELENA wants to stab him. Hell, she’d probably do it just to get some peace and quiet but she resists the temptation. Something tells her to wait until she has an inkling of what the fuck is going on around here. Instead, she takes a piece of the display the man points at and shoves it in her mouth with no regard as to whether it’s poisoned or not. Oogie’s too prideful to take her out via cake.
She promptly spits out the too-sweet pastry. “What the fuck? That tastes like every Halloween candy ever.” As if it’s his fault, Helena directs her glare at the man, arms crossing in irritation. “You always talk with your mouth full? That’s disgusting.” Gaze narrows onto the food pinched between his fingers, contemplating whether it’s worth it to mug the guy for something to eat. “Is there anything good around here?”
"By god," he whispered in awe to himself as he sipped at the drink he had made himself in the theater he'd found himself in. It was bright and yet abandoned. When he happened upon the whirring object, he pressed on the levers attached to it. and out came ice crashing down. And the the whizzy fizzy drinks that sounded like rushing water even when it was still in a puddle. Rozen had somehow figured to pour the liquid into one of the paper goblets sat on the side of the machine. "Ahhh," he sighed, quite undignified. If his mother could see him now. "Have you ever had anything more splendid?" he asked the person who had walked into the carpeted hall. "Come join me," he invited happily.
NO one can say that Liam doesn’t think with his head. He does. In fact, he’s doing so now as he makes a new-found friend who apparently has never seen a soda fountain. Maybe it’s a west coast thing. There’s no denying he’s a little perturbed that the guy speaks like Shakespeare in the Park, but he hasn’t attacked Liam yet and if he does, he’s sure he can use Sprite as a weapon somehow.
“Try mixing them,” he offers. “Coke and Cherry Fanta is basically cherry Coke with twice the sugar.” Liam approaches the man, snagging a cup of his own. “You think this place has Rocky Horror? Wait . . . is this whole thing some kind of Rocky Horror fever dream? Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m just disappointed I didn’t get enough time to go get a corset to be Frankie.”

panic wasn’t one of the various emotions that mara experienced when they realized they had suddenly been transported to some unknown place. confusion? yes. but after the initial shock and disbelief, their emotions shifted toward relief. she had found herself longing for some sort of escape and this seemed to be the closest thing she would ever get to such. she wasn’t entirely sure how long they were going to be stuck here, so they fully intended to enjoy themselves while she could. she had brought a blanket that she found in one of the stores along with a sketchbook to the park in town, enjoying the feeling of sunshine warming their skin. her lips pursed in concentration as the pencil moved freely across the page, doing a quick sketch of the main street in the distance. though mara’s attention was drawn away as a shadow clouded some of the light. a sigh of exasperation escaped them, not bothering to look up at the other. “is there something you need or are you just an asshole? i know i’m pretty, but there’s no reason to stand there and stare.”
THE fact that she’s still alive is a cause of concern for Helena. Her father’s only defeat has been in the hands of Jack Skellington and she’s not optimistic enough to believe that she’s escaped his clutches that easily. Her new surroundings feel like, on some level, her very own purgatory and it’s the paranoia that sits in Helena’s blood that’s grounding her to the reality that she hasn’t died yet.
Helena figures stocking up for supplies would be the smart thing to do but in the midst of ransacking a store, she’s come to face another. Their cavalier -- in Helena’s eyes anyway -- way of going about and picking up a blanket has her interests piqued so she follows them out. Helena’s not one to be impressed by mundanity but the whirlwind of emotions in her head at being thrown into something new has her flabbergasted at the sight of someone simply drawing as if their world hasn’t upended itself.
“You from around here?” The question is the first thing she thinks of as she stands over the other, the need of answers fueling her ire. “Bit full of yourself, aren’t you? Don’t worry. I’ve seen prettier worms in rotten logs.”
oddie was keeping mostly to themselves, enjoying the invigoratingly warm coffee they’d ordered – who knew that food and drink could be so enjoyable! but, that would explain why humans loved them so much. they were mostly people watching when they noticed someone wince in pain, or what they suspected was pain. and, though it wasn’t any of their business, they could help but reach out in case it was something they could help with. they mentally prepared themselves for rejection regardless. “um, excuse me,” they said softly, clearing their throat slightly. words were so strange to use when they weren’t the ones they were pre-programmed to use. “are you alright? you seem a bit uncomfortable. if you’re hurt, i could look over the issue if you’d like. i would like to think i’m quite good at dealing with such issues,” they offered, gently eager. @scatteredstart
PERHAPS Liam should be a little more careful considering he has the survival skills of a goldfish. Still, that doesn’t stop him from attempting to climb the tallest tree he can find to overlook the city. He’s still not quite sure how he fell from the first branch he got his footing on but the ache on his elbow thankfully isn’t bad enough to deem his arm broken.
He’s caught unawares by a stranger offering aid and lost or not, Liam’s not going to turn down a look over on his supposed injuries. “I hurt my ass,” is what comes out because first impressions matter. “Not that I want you to look at my ass because I’m not gonna flash you like that . . . for free, at least,” he’s quick to rectify. “But I fell off that tree and I’m pretty sure it’s not broken but I’m gonna need you to pop my shoulder just in case. Don’t worry I won’t scream. Gag me if you gotta.”
