nothing for awhile, taylor is on an extended break
secret fourth thing
toy story 5...5 holes in the fence btw
“Inspired by the rootin’ tootin’ cowgirl Jessie’s ongoing journey in ‘Toy Story 5’ that began back in ‘Toy Story 2,’ ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ also marks a return to Taylor Swift’s country roots, blending styles that have defined her record-breaking career as a songwriter and artist.”

unfortunately i can never hate on a "power of friendship" narrative no matter how corny because the thing is it's literally real
what if there was a red string of fate tying us together and it was made of star-eating microorganisms that were killing our respective solar systems
i bet the world was told the tale of how ryland grace heroically stepped up and sacrificed himself as the science specialist after the explosion. i bet his students were told that their teacher bravely chose to die to save them, all of them. ryland grace, the savior of earth.
no one will ever know he was dragged kicking and screaming. no one will ever see the cctv footage of him running, screaming, begging for his life.
the story they will be told of ryland grace, the savior of the universe, will be a bold faced lie.
and no one will know he did willingly sacrifice himself to save rocky.
no one will know he could have come home. no one will know he finally found his purpose amongst the stars.
one of the funniest and saddest parts of project hail mary is that stratt absolutely did kidnap a guy to send off to die in space without hesitation but also made sure to pack all his funky t-shirts and favorite sweater and his crochet earth ball and his favorite coffee settings so!
Let him have one nap in normal gravity please
ohhh my god.
project hail mary has it all. amnesia trope. petty academics. platonic soulmates. narratively justified retro-futurism. red string of fate. a bird may love a fish, but where will they live / then I shall have to make you wings. also a competent woman committing so many crimes in order to save the world and bringing the protagonist with her everywhere because he is her AND I QUOTE "little science lapdog". book of all time
Rocky learns that Grace is only in his late thirties/early forties and has a mini heart attack where he instinctively goes “oh fuck that’s a baby. That’s a baby?” because thirty to forty year olds on Erid have the maturity of the average human pre-teen, probably. Of course Rocky understands that Grace is a fully mature individual for his species, it’s just tough to swallow sometimes, especially when Grace spends so much time tripping over himself and being stupid and not sleeping etc etc. just. That urge to protect your best friend in the whole world is heightened by how fragile he is, and how young he seems to you sometimes despite your better senses
the fact that 99% of project hail mary fan art is grace hugging rocky in his little orb. or ditching the orb altogether and they hug For Real. something something it’s so human to hug. hugs are so important to us. hugs are the pinnacle of sharing love and gratitude with someone else and we want grace and rocky to share that love and gratitude with each other so badly. we want rocky to understand the gravity of what a human hug means. squishing my barbie’s together despite their opposing environments and making the human and eridian express their happiness through intertwined limbs dammit!!!!
The similarities in how Grace interacts with Rocky and Stratt in the movie are actually so striking. They’re narrative foils, and their similarities show how Grace relates to people he gets close to.
When Grace first meets both of them, he tries to run away. They both end up racing him/chasing him down.
Stratt’s first words to Grace are “knock-knock”. Grace and Rocky’s first greeting is a knock on a wall.
Stratt and Rocky are both established to be bad at jokes, and have a very literal way of speaking.
Grace calls both Rocky and Stratt “mysterious”.
Grace asks Stratt: "Can I think about it?" She replies: "You have three hours." Grace asks Rocky: "Can I think about it?" He replies: "Yes. Think about it long time." (Addition from @inkyrainstorms)
Stratt takes Grace away from his environment to help solve the problem. Rocky leaves behind his environment to join Grace in his.
Drew Goddard you can write one heck of a screenplay.
Whatever you do, don't think about what happens to Grace's biodome after he dies. Don't think about it becoming a monument to the first inter-planetary friendship. Don't think about the generations of Eridian scientists who will visit it to learn about Earth and prepare for visits when they work out the whole space-travel thing outside of an extinction-level emergency.
Any whatever you do, do NOT think about the little Eridian schoolkids who go there on class trips and play in the water in their special exo-suits and listen to lessons that Grace pre recorded while he was still alive and become inspired to be biologists and astronauts and teachers themselves.
Don't imagine Rocky joining them, so that he can hear his old friend teaching children about the wonders of science once more and pretend, just for a moment, that he's still there with them.
