“Things have actually been rather quiet recently...a lot less intruders...have people actually been running off to smash Neffy in the profit instead of trying to kill Tubemen for a change?”
Syb quietly thinking to herself that Lotus never called off that hit squad even though Tyl made that deal...
She’s been lucky so far
"So what are the chances of the Grineer to stop calling me the White Devil whenever I enter a room?"
“Maybe when you join the Grineer? But, to be fair, that’d only stop the Drekar. Can’t help you for the others!”
pastelgodmag:
Voxx waved her hand a bit, gesturing to the data pad at her hip.
❝ We can continue this discussion at a later date. Now then, this ship has been secured yes? Right, good. And the data is also quite secured? ❞
She turned to the Crewmen who held up data chips with confidence.Holding out her palm, the Crewmen delivered the data as so. She’ll have to… Review, this data to make sure it was worth while to the Board. None the less they trekked forward, they were quite close to the hangar given her impeccable path-finding skills. Or in this case, her map. Another glance towards the Crewmen and she could safely assume they didn’t suspect her of a thing. Good, the less questions she has to answer for the better.
A turn to the right and up a few ramps later and there’s the docking bay. Normally Exol would be waiting here with Voxx’s liset, but this time around she arrived on a Obelisk. She felt a bit… Saddened, having to depart from her new found comrade so soon, but such is life with a job like their’s. Hopefully perhaps she’ll get to see him again. It almost makes her wish for a peace treaty. But her HATE for literally every other Grineer ever severely out weighs that thought.
He nodded, a smirk hidden from view. Who knew what this treasure trove of data could hold with encryption levels that were this high. Vergas was going to spend the next few days digging through this at least. Maybe some time to talk with Voxx as he works? He’d have to see.
The hangar held a Grineer fighter waiting for its pilot to return. Vergas wasn’t skilled at fighting in it, but he could at least take off and land when he needed to infiltrate quietly, that’s what mattered most. He opened a panel on the side, pushing a button before closing it, a ladder extending for him to climb up into the cockpit as he holstered his pistol.
The Grineer took several steps up the ladder, stopping to look back at Voxx. He wanted to say something more...personal as a farewell. The Crewmen that followed them made that rather impossible, so he gave her a slight nod. “My thanks for your generosity.” He stepped into the cockpit, hitting a button within to retract the ladder as he buckled his harness and started the engines. When the crewmen weren’t looking he managed to sneak her a slight wave as the canopy closed.
Once everything was powered on, the fighter lifted off the ground and the landing gear retracted as he departed through the tunnel out into space, headed towards where he needed to go to meet up with a Corvette to take him back to Uranus. “Commandant, mission complete, headed back now,” he commed Syb, something he told her he would do once he was done.
<<”That took a little long, Vergas. What happened?“>>
“Well...I think I made a friend.”
<<”A friend?”>>
“I’ll explain when I get back home. I don’t think you’d believe me if I told you over the radio without the helmet camera to back it up.”
pastelgodmag:
❝ I’ll keep you posted then. ❞
Voxx stopped completely, looking over at the Drekar. He… Thought she looked nice? She’s gotten compliments here and there from a few Tenno back when she would still collaborate with other Warframes, but outside of that Corpus and the like never seem to notice her ever changing appearance. Corpus never ‘valued’ fashion the same way Warframes did. But to have someone outside of the Corpus and even the Tenno pay HER a compliment? One that wasn’t just a short lived ‘you look nice’? She was… Mildly surprised, but it wasn’t without it’s gratitude.
❝ Oh- thank you. I put a lot of work into my appearance, I just find it a little… Repetitive, to just go around wearing the same clothes and whatnot. Crewmen and the board alike value fashion but in a sense that it remains FUNCTIONAL.So they rarely wear anything outside of their normal uniforms. I, I don’t see the point of that. If you have the money, why not treat yourself a little? It’s why I wear so many different skins. I just think it looks nice, and it’s a good expressive outlet. Are Grineer the same? They seem to wear just their regular uniforms. I’m not well versed in the fashion nuances of your faction but I am vaguely aware that Grineer accessories… Exist, for Tenno. ❞
She did find it quite peculiar that with as many faction-themed accessories and skins, the factions themselves never seem to diverge from their uniforms.
Though as much as she enjoyed the conversation, she started to hear Corpus shouting behind her. Ah, the Crewmen must be finishing up copying all that intel. They had the ship secured under their will and enough information to make even Frohd Bek pleased. Gotta pretend she wasn’t getting along with a Grineer real quick or else they might tattle on her.
❝ Where’s your ship located anyways? We’re pretty much done here now, gotta report back to our command. ❞
His armor wasn’t anything unique with the chameleon camouflage off, leaving him with Drekar camouflage, with areas of blue and black on it. There was a Drekar blue Grineer insignia on his chest and pauldrons, small enough to only be viewed up close, not exactly obvious from far off.
“The Drekar are transforming a bit, not within the eye of Tenno usually. Sure there’s not a lot of money to spare on personal fashion, Tyl does what he can for us. You might be a bit surprised at what I wear off duty.” He chuckled, “But, yeah, some Grineer items exist, or are easily adapted by Tenno, I suppose. I see more customization from the things Tenno made themselves that the Commandant points out.”
He turned when he saw the Corpus yelling growing closer he figured it would be best to look a bit deceitful himself as well. He was definitely warming up to Voxx. “Should be in the hangar bay up here and to the right.” His voice then turned to a whisper to keep the others from hearing, “Shame we were interrupted...”
pastelgodmag:
Delicate fingers took the datapad, conjuring her own in return. While most data pads and by extension commlinks were quite standard, Voxx made quite the effort to personally guy her’s from Luxor- a Corpus manufacturing corporation. In turn her technology styles a Corpus design. She likes to keep up the aesthetic as much as she does her devotion.
❝There was no reason to shoot you really. But hey, maybe we can do a little helping each other out in the future. The board tends to like to keep tabs on Grineer vessels carrying… S e n s i t i v e, information. If you get what i’m saying. Don’t worry about them, though. I won’t tell them anything, don’t need the board getting suspicious. ❞
Voxx’s frame was quite… Different than most. She is an adamant participator of the Fashion Frame movement, causing her appearance to change quite often. However today she decided for one of her more… Defaulted looks, one she tends to fall back on. The armor that adorned her looked leathery, a matte finish almost. However it still remained as hard as steel. Her helmet was a wide glass, ferrofluid swirling in it. Adorning her calves and shoulders were holograms, Corpus written all over. And her most prized possession, her Opulas robe. It was quite the fashion statement to wear the garments of the man who kills your kind for his own morbid curiosity, in her opinion.
This is one nice datapad...he slipped it away after looking it over. The Corpus made some good stuff, he had to hand that to them. He used a Corpus rifle, after all.
That changing appearance definitely said something about Voxx, though. Sybilla had her tastes, but she never changed her warframe once it was set aside from adding some Grineer plating to her warframe once she was part of the Drekar...and yet now she has a fancy new suit. Voxx here...he’s never seen another warframe up close without being in harm’s way. He liked her looks, even if it was rather Corpus.
Was a definite contrast to his Drekar camouflage mixed in with gray and marine blue. This armor had more use than combat though, it was what kept him alive in the frigid temperatures the backups and servers had to be kept in now. Bad enough he was based on the standard Grineer template with improvements, but he didn’t need frostbite.
“Yes, wouldn’t want the Board getting suspicious of our conversations or any other meetings we might have. Though, yes, if it benefits what we’re doing, I don’t see why we can’t work together in the future.” He scratched the back of his neck despite that being covered by armor, “If you don’t mind me saying as well, Voxx, your appearance is...interesting. You look quite fine for a warframe, even if you do have that Corpus aesthetic. It’s...rather fitting, given who you are. Adds to your frame.”
pastelgodmag:
Voxx was surprised, looking back to the Grineer. Talk more? She was… Never inclined to talk to Grineer really. She wasn’t Head of Grineer Relations after all. She had no reason to converse with such but… This Grineer? He’s shown enough brain cells to be capable of holding a decent conversation. She could make an exception, just this once.
Okay she lied. Clem was also a Grineer she enjoyed the company of, a friend of Darvo is a friend of her. A friend of any Corpus is a friend of her’s, really. And that’s what made her so different.
Not only did she work for the Corpus, she also worked for rogue agents outside of the Corpus. While Corpus only in technicality, they didn’t exactly obey by the doctrine anymore. Darvo, a merchant who often times then not employ Voxx’s help to retrieve goods from derelict ships was someone who Voxx trusted. Another would be the Perrin Sequence. Before working for the board, she was working for Ergo Glast, and even then she still worked for Ergo Glast. But it was a double edged sword, she had to make sure her missions doesn’t interfere or out her to the board and vice versa. But it was a balancing act she was quite good at, having been unseen so far by the eyes of the Corpus.
❝You know what?As long as you don’t out me to my SUPERIORS, then sure. I don’t normally like to keep in contact with Grineer for… Obvious reasons, but as you said it yourself, you also seem different. And well, more or less capable of holding a decent conversation at least. ❞
Would this benefit her in anyway? Maybe. When it comes down to it, if she were to develop this into a close knitted friendship, perhaps she can use it to her advantage in some way. Find out information no other Corpus can. It would give her an edge for sure. But right now, this was merely just keeping correspondence with a new… Colleague.
Vergas took out a small datapad and typed in some information on it, direct access to his radio and personal terminal back on Uranus. After double checking it was right he held it out to her to take as he took a few steps closer to her.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t do that. I don’t even know who to contact even if I wanted to. I wouldn’t even want to. You didn’t shoot me when you had the chance and force me to run for it.” He was just genuinely a nice guy even if he was a Grineer. Tyl did something...that much is obvious.
He was curious about seeing a Tenno up close without being massacred, and he’s only been able to examine Syb’s own Mesa Prime in such a way. He gave Voxx a once over to look over her colors and aesthetic. Can’t help that a computer nerd is curious and that a warframe is one of the most advanced mixtures of biology and machinery out there.
pastelgodmag:
She gave a small nod. A Warframe who worked for the Grineer? Doesn’t surprise her. She doesn’t understand why a Warframe would pledge allegiance to those twin tyrants but she shrugged it off. It wasn’t her place to criticize a Grineer for being a Grineer. Only killing them. She rolled her shoulders a bit as she rested her Supra on one, the most relaxed she’s been this entire mission it seemed.
❝ Voxx, you can call me Voxx. I’m… A lot of things. I’m mostly a Corpus enforcer, when I’m not guarding or keeping watch of board members I’m either commander of an outpost, ship or assisting in a hostile takeover like this. ❞
To say she was a high ranking Corpus would be… An overstatement. She wasn’t HIGH on the pecking order when it came to who could order who. But when it came to the working class of Corpus, she was top dog. They all reported to HER. And she reported to Frohd Bek or otherwise. She didn’t mind however, crewmen were a lot more easier to handle than sleazy business men like the Board.
She was surprised this Grineer was even being polite at all. She SUPPOSED with his name she could stop calling him ‘Drekar’ or dog now. Either way, this whole run of events have been the closest she’s been to being c i v i l with a Grineer, if only more of them could be this civil on a day to day basis. But she knew at the end of the day the Grineer wouldn’t be caught dead trying to form a mutual benefit between both factions, and even then Tyl Regor had something up his sleeves to try and wipe the Corpus from the face of the Origin System. She won’t let that happen though.
Oh if only Voxx had ended up meeting Dragoslava or even the Commandant herself. The former was Grineer only by a technicality and not in the least bit genetically, and Syb went without saying. Good thing it wasn’t, the former’s not the best with tech being more of a medic and a former Tenno might be more inclined to bash Voxx over the head with the butt of her rifle. Syb’s surprised him before, though, so there’s no telling.
She might be surprised with Tyl’s secret plans, but this isn’t the time nor place to reveal any of that. Vergas’ pistol was down by his side but still in hand. He didn’t seem worried about being shot in the back at all. The frame was rather trustworthy.
“Voxx, huh? I like the name.” She couldn’t see it but he was smiling a bit behind the helmet. That even surprised him internally given her involvement with that whole debacle with his siblings...he had time to look into this and discover the truth at the very least. “Would you want to...talk some more after all this? I might have some more questions about what happened with my siblings. I can’t tell you anything sensitive, mind you, but...you seem...different from other Corpus. I don’t know why.”
pastelgodmag:
EVEN she couldn’t see the appeal of Nef Anyo’s case, but she’s already said her grievances about the filthy conman enough.
❝ The Tenno and the Lotus… The Tenno are unfortunate and stubborn victims. They refuse to see the LOTUS for what she truly is and in some ways, I pity them. To be so blind to a tyrant like her… She uses the Tenno to fight battles that are neither their own. She keeps secrets from them under the guise of that ‘motherly protection’ but I like to believe it’s to lull them further into this false sense of security she’s made for them. And all for what? So that she can have soldiers to whittle down the factions of the Origin system? Corpus or Grineer, the Tenno shouldn’t be fighting their battles. Though what makes me so different is I CHOSE what team to fight for. The Tenno are mere neutral adversaries. When it comes down to it all, who would be left in the solar system aside from mindless slaves to the Lotus, what would she do then? Would she cast away the Tenno seeing their use as done for? I didn’t want to wait around for that, personally. It’s why I call myself Corpus, not Tenno. ❞
Her duty to the Corpus was through a number of different factors. What started as her merely appreciating the Corpus aesthetic turned to her adopting their doctrine. Money, power, control. They were morals that something deep down within her resonated with. Perhaps it was whatever past she was raised with, before the Old War, but she isn’t quite sure. Her memories have never been entirely there.
She paused for a moment and looked at the Drekar next to her. That… Was tricky to answer.
❝ It’s… A topic I don’t like to discuss, frankly enough. Let’s just say each Warframe is different. ❞
DESPITE her allegiance, the fact that Alad V cut open numerous Warframes to see what made them tick still left a bad taste in her theoretical mouth. She was not a Tenno, but she was still a warframe and the fact that he could of just pinned her down at any moment and used her as a science experiment when he was still with them? It was an unpleasant feeling. One she didn’t like to indulge onto strangers. She was dispelling enough about herself as is, she was getting a bit too open at this rate. Especially with a Drekar Grineer.
❝ As far as I’m concerned, I don’t have a beating heart. ❞
“Sounds a lot like what the Commandant said.” In fact...the Mag’s explanation was eerily similar... “She calls Lotus a warlord, manipulative, hopes more Tenno come to their senses. Like you, she chose her side, and she prefers to be called Grineer, she hates being called a Tenno. She’s a good friend, I’m glad she’s on our side.”
Warframes different? Would make sense...Syb’s Mesa Prime is a useless hunk of metal and Helminth flesh unless she’s occupying it..and that’s rare these days as she found an alternative. So what was so special about this Mag? He was curious, wanted to know, but he wasn’t going to push it.
“Well, at the very least, what can I call you? Corpus or skoom don’t really seem too...appropriate.” He’s not sure why he’s suddenly so amiable even though she was involved with the whole incident long ago. But, there was some truth to her words. He wanted to find out more about this, and interestingly about this intriguing figure he was working with.
“I’m Sub Lieutenant Vergas, spec ops, but, I’m just a computer nerd when I’m not doing...this.”
pastelgodmag:
❝ Nef Anyo, yes. His spite for Alad outweighed his common sense- if he had any that is. As for how he maintains his position with the Corpus board? Manipulation. Unlike Vay Hek, Nef is a special kind of idiot. An idiot who realizes how obscene his plans are but manages to make them work. He can appeal to people’s greed, people’s lack of self worth. Hell, when hi pitched the idea of Bursas to the board, they loved it. They weren’t aware that it was even a ponzi scheme. He convinced the most gullible of people in the Origin system to sink millions of credits into this with promise that they’d make their money back. He merely pocketed each credit and used it to create combat Bursas. ❞
❝ Everybody has a god. The Ostrons had the Unum, the Corpus see the Orokin as such. Even the Myconians who Nef tried to make bank off of saw the Infestation as some kind of higher being. Nef Anyo? He’s trying to play into those religious subscripts. Trying to appeal to everyone’s faith through the Void. And that’s how it works. People believed him through faith and religion. To an outsider it seems foolish, anyone could see right through it. But those who are at such a low in their life that they turn to religion as their last salvation? Nef Anyo can easily manipulate them. It’s the first rule of a conman, never pick a target who’s smart. Because smart targets will waste your time. ❞
She was… Surprised to hear that even some Grineer despised Vay Hek as much as she and the Corpus did. Well, most of the solar system despised Vay Hek. the Councillor was annoying to everyone, even his own Grineer it seemed. If Grineer insiders wanted to take down Vay Hek themselves? She won’t stop them. Infighting leaves less work for her to take care of when it comes to the ultimate Corpus vs. Grineer showdown.
As for Nef Anyo, oh did she hate him. Most Corpus did not, his wealth made it so. A Corpus aristocrat, Nef Anyo was held to a pedestal not unlike the Board, but his own. He even had his own ‘Order of Profit’ that he made as a religious congregation, no doubt some mere scheme to keep Solaris folk on Venus in line. While most didn’t mind and might even revered him, she just wanted to watch him rot. If not because of his mere hypocrisy and stupidity, but because of what he tried to do to Alad V.
If Tyl’s plans had anything to say about it, that showdown would be less Grineer v Corpus and more Tubemen v Corpus. The Old Grineer needed to go, but until he can get the numbers they need, it was useless to fight any side. Best to gather resources and build for the upcoming battle. After that? It would be open war when Tyl moves to annex another planet.
“That bastard. He sounds worse than that legless parrot in his manipulation and deceit. What idiotic Tenno in their right mind would support such a madman? For what? Money? Or do they hate us Grineer so much that they are willing to kill even the defenseless to win? That Lotus of theirs with her lies and treachery. I was told about her...she’s just as dangerous as Neffy or Hek.”
He took a breath, oh what Syb had told them about the Lotus from her own experience...so many wicked beings in control of every faction. How this needed to change. His mind suddenly thought to something the Mag had said earlier. “Before, you said you didn’t have a physical heart. Are you not a human underneath that frame, or is there more to you? Is there something I’m not seeing?”
pastelgodmag:
Walking back towards the entrance, Voxx did the same thing she did with the other Crewman. Sent them in with a chip to also copy the data inside the empty vault. Leaving just the two of them to clear out the area and go on their separate ways. She could just kill Vergas then and there and nobody would be the wiser, not like these Corpus cared in the first place. But again, honor is one hell of a moral code. Walking down the last stretch of hallway, Voxx gazed upon the Grineer architecture. Archaic and rough. Not her style of course, she preferred the more clean and slick nature of Corpus aesthetics. It was then she was brought back to the question before hand. What did Alad V want with Tyl Regor’s research. Letting out a soft sigh, the frame looked back towards the Drekar.
❝ To answer your… Previous, question. Alad V was… Sick. If you don’t know, Alad V was responsible for the Zanuka program, a Proxy initiative to hybridize Warframe parts to robotics. It worked initially, but due to the fact that Alad was retrieving these Warframes from Grineer sanctioned areas, it caused a lot of problems for the Board. It got to the point where as far as I know Frohd Bek, head chairman of the Corpus board, managed to write off Alad and leave his seat vacant. This in turn cut his funding and Alad V had to… Make do with what he had. ❞
❝ He wanted to experiment on biological technology. And to do that he saw… Potential in the Technocyte virus- the Infestation. I thought he was a fool. But he went off the radar for some few months germinating his plans. Nobody knew what became of him until he resurfaced under the influence of the Technocyte hivemind. Eventually Alad V managed to get a hold of himself enough to realize how damaging the infestation was to him and… Wanted to cure himself of the ailment. He found this cure in Tyl Regor’s research. If it could stop the Grineer from deteriorating, could it theoretically stop Alad V from being consumed. And… He was right. The cure Alad V conjured from Tyl’s lab notes. It worked. ❞
She paused for a moment, diverting eye contact.
❝ On the same token however, Nef Anyo knew how dangerous Alad V would be if he could go back to being. Well, himself. Dangerous in the sense that Alad V would jeopardize Nef Anyo’s position. So Nef opted to enlist the help of the Tenno of trashing the labs to the point where they’d be unsalvageable and Alad V would be left to rot. That didn’t seem to be the case since enough of us ran through the labs quick enough to get the notes before Nef Anyo’s supporters could destroy them. Really, I should give my thanks to Regor. Without his meddling with your, the Grineer’s, genetics. Alad V wouldn’t have been cured of his Infestation. I don’t know what he’s doing nowadays, ever since then he’s been… Silent, off the radar. Perhaps for good. He is a fugitive at this rate after jeopardizing dozens of Corpus ships and outposts with his ‘Mutalist Empire’ nonsense. But that’s the long and the short of it. It wasn’t because our hatred for Grineer. It wasn’t because we felt threatened by Tyl Regor. Alad V was sick, and we just wanted to cure him. And Nef Anyo couldn’t allow that happening. Because his two braincells realized how quickly his facade would crumble have Alad V bounced back from his infection. ❞
❝ You can tell that to Regor. All of this was cycles ago, so nothing I say holds up to current times. Nef Anyo’s off doing something redundant, Alad V is off the radar for good. I don’t know where the stolen notes and research is. But that’s just my side of the story. ❞
Well, somebody would be, the Drekar would be, and there’d be a former Tenno who’d come looking for him. She had no qualms killing anyone who got in her way, Vergas liked her; worked with her personally to increase security in the labs to include automated cannons too. Who better to bolster security than a Tenno?
“The copying...I became aware of them after I returned and reviewed the data integrity everywhere. But, you’re saying It was that imbecile of a ‘void preacher’ that’s responsible for ordering the deaths of my siblings?” This was all on his helmet footage. He could show Tyl later, aside from telling him about this. Seems they have a mutual foe?
He couldn’t speak for Tyl...but maybe he could forgive some of the Tenno, at least some of those who were with Alad if this is true. Combat casualties were to be expected, even in Tyl’s plans for the future of the Grineer that would pit Tubemen against Old Grineer. The advantage was Tyl’s, they had to keep it. He had more cause to desire justice against those who killed his siblings in their tubes than others who were doing their jobs.
“What I don’t get...how does someone so stupid like Nef Anyo get so high up in the Corpus hierarchy? He sounds just as bad for you as Vay Hek is for us. Why doesn’t anyone just...get rid of him? A good many of us would be rather happy to see Hek drop dead or put a bullet in his face ourselves.”
pastelgodmag:
Voxx was taken aback for a moment. Were… Were they not aware of what happened? What the the attack actually was for? Leave it to Regor to keep out the details of a Corpus reasoning. No matter, she’ll explain it after they’re through with this vault. With her precaution Crush, most of the vault wardens were dead. Which made for easy access for her. Taking out scanners along the way, she stood in front of a console, one that blocked the entry way to an elevator. Easy enough she figured.
An elevator console wasn’t the hardest part of the vault, of course. It was always the actual data console that caused the problems. Next time she gets on a research galleons perhaps she should bring more Tech than Crewmen. None the less by the time they arrived at the vault, the placed seemed to be swarming with eximi and wardens. Great.
❝ Aww, didn’t expect to get such a warm welcoming party! ❞
There was sarcasm in her voice as she bore her Supra, unleashing onto the group of enemies. They were a tough bunch, but as long as she kept her shields in check, they can wipe them out no problem. Polarizes here, Crushes there. The polarize itself could strip a normal Grineer of it’s armor, but tougher enemies like this? Not so much. Crush however, it was most essential too her. It provided her with the most minimal of protection, but still protection none the less. Overshields.
The Supra was a powerful assault rifle, fast firing speed as well as multishot too boot. However that meant it ate at her ammo quite faster than most guns. It was no Dual Cestra, but it sure ate her ammo reserves. A dull click paused the frame, glancing down at the empty weapon. Ykip. Pky ko pkeye jeakopy kate yuyk ykippy ayyo peyeptapiop?!
She hissed to herself in Corpus, a default whenever she’s stressed. Switching to her Mara Detron, she realized the weapon would be it’s most efficient close range. Another groan and she gripped the sidearm tightly, rushing in and taking pot shots at all the Grineer in her sight.
Though she took quite the beating, her Mara Detron was a secret weapon of her’s. Modded with at least four different kinds of elemental procs, technically. If you could exploding enemies causing magnetic damage as an elemental proc. It made quick work of each Eximus and warden, leaving an empty console free for the picking.
Not so much on Alad’s motivations...Tyl had a feeling both were out to stop his work. At least that was the conclusion he came to. Nef’s would be obvious...but how does someone so stupid get so much power in the Corpus? Then again, the Grineer could say the same thing about Hek, nobody with a brain liked him in the least. There’d be a big Drekar party if Hek was one day found dead, that’d be the most likely outcome.
Elevator consoles were never really encrypted well...yes...something to remember for later. Once they descended he’d help the Mag out with his own rifle after going prone. Even he eventually ran out despite firing in bursts. He quickly drew his sidearm, a Tenno-built Magnus and fired. Too bad he didn’t pack as much ammo as he could for the rifle.
Syb modded this thing for him with some explosive damage and was it being helpful right about now. Once they were all dead he reloaded his pistol, picked up his rifle, and moved over to the console, stepping over a couple of dead Wardens as he went. It took about a minute and a half to do the usual hacking, copying, and opening up the last of the area doors. He walked back over after he was done with that.
pastelgodmag:
❝ Why do it? ❞
Her voice was quite calm. She knew she stepped over a line the moment she mentioned the tubemen attack. But she was absolute in her reasoning, perhaps Tyl Regor wasn’t being violent, yet. But she didn’t attack that lab because of Tyl Regor’s plans specifically.
❝ I didn’t do it because of Tyl Regor. I didn’t do it because of whatever plan he was conjuring up in those labs. I did it to save a dear friend of mine. I apologize about your siblings, truly. I tried my best to spare them. I may be Corpus but I try not to kill those who cannot defend themselves. But to keep the integrity of my mission and not… Get caught, I had to do things I would rather not do in any other circumstance. ❞
She did sound a bit remorseful, she wasn’t lying when she said she tried to spare these tubemen. In any other circumstance she would of slaughtered a facility of Grineer, but even so. It was her job.
❝ Unlike those in support of. Ech. Nef Anyo. All I was told to do was get copies of Tyl’s research so that Alad V could cure himself of his ailment. I was just doing my job, I’m loyal to my cause as you are to your’s, and you’re damn fucking lucky I didn’t just shoot you on the spot back there. Call me heartless all you want, it was never proven I had a physical one in the first place. As much as I hold disdain for the Grineer. the Tubemen operation was honestly the most conflicted I’ve felt working for the Corpus in a very long time. Feel free to despise me, as I said before. This partnership is only temporary and I can assure you after we’re done here I’ll be going back to controlling more ships and labs in the name of profit. And you can go back to doing whatever dirty work Tyl Regor needs from you. ❞
She hissed at the other, clenching her Supra in both hands. Hadn’t she held such discipline, she’d shoot the Grineer where he stood. She didn’t need these files, and the less witnesses the better. But Tenno honor held her back from turning her back on an ally, no matter how dysfunctional and temporary it was. Weren’t for the laws of these lands…
❝ Now unless you want to fight your way through groups of Corpus yourself, the faster you hack the doors, the faster you get back to your ship and you can plot your revenge or whatnot against us. ❞
He’s rather thankful he suggested backups to Tyl earlier...even if there’s now such massive stores of data on cryogenic climate controlled mainframes in the labs. It was his job to keep those safe...so...wait, Alad? Nef?
“Wait, what?” He paused before starting on the panel, “You may need to explain this before I depart. What the hell would Alad want with research relating to Grineer genetics and genetic diversity? Nef Anyo? That idiot can go die in a hole for all any of us care. We were told that those under him were far more brutal.” He wanted to hear the Corpus side of the story...what the hell was going on that led to that?
The door opened and he grabbed his Dera off his back. Answers had to wait, they still had a job to do, and if anything, at least the Tubemen were honorable. Seemed this war would keep going on...Tyl’s worst fear. Would he ever get a break?

Mag was quiet for a moment… Perhaps she could see it through that perspective. But even then her prejudice against the deteriorating faction wouldn’t change. There were exceptions, there was always exceptions. Corpus hated Grineer. And Grineer hated Corpus. She was a Corpus. She hated Grineer. But even then, there were exceptions to that rule. Like the fact beforehand, she was Tenno. Though now she even hated the word being uttered about her person.
The Kavor and Steel Meridian were quite exceptions. She didn’t like lending her help to the Kavor unless it benefited her in some way. And rarely did it. Steel Meridian on the other hand? She might consider helping Cressa Tal one day if she could cease sending a bunch of robotic meat balls after her every waking moment. Grineer have done nothing but inconvenience her at every turn no matter how ‘different’ they are. Except for this one. Again, there was always an exception.
She could tell he was trying to explain it in a delicate way. Perhaps he was under a protocol, maybe he just didn’t want her to know too much. She could always use that information against him, deliver it to the board, crush whatever spark Tyl Regor is trying to nurture in these tubemen. Smart.
❝ I highly doubt that the Manics were, but they sure were a pain in my side when Alad V asked me to go into those labs. I thought the damage that I and the Tenno caused would of crippled Tyl Regor for years to come, but he sprung back almost immediately. It was then that I realized that I shouldn’t underestimate Grineer that can think. ❞
Her walking slowed to a stop as the softly glowing yellow terminal met her vision. Ah, the vault. She could hear the faint grumble of Grineer on the other side, someone must of been waiting for them. A small huff left the frame as she walked up to the door, even if she couldn’t shoot her target, she had other ways of dealing with camping Grineer.
She took a deep breathe, raising her left hand. The ground began to shake subtly, pebbles levitating into the air and taking on a golden hue. The circled around the prime as her other hand joined in the air, one the other side, the pained yelps of Grineer could be heard as cracks echoed from behind the door, her hands meeting each other in a clash. She was silent before a moment, glancing down to see some blood pooling from a crack in the door, pleased with her performance, she stood back and gestured to the console.
It took every ounce of willpower he had to not stop dead in his tracks when the warframe mentioned being among those who attacked the labs...he wasn’t on Uranus, he was busy learning the technical skills he needed with computers, but many of his brothers and sisters...Mk 1 Tubemen, as well as Manics and the Mk 1.5s Tyl made as control clones for his science...murdered by the Tenno...Tenno like this one.
Before he starts working on the console, he turns and looks right at the Mag, weapon on his back for now. He wanted to get one thing out of the way before he did anything else.
“Why? Why do it? Tyl wasn’t even doing anything overly aggressive against the Tenno or the Corpus. So many of my brothers and sisters died in their tubes, defenseless.” He gestured to himself, “I’m one of them. I wasn’t in my tubes at the time, or even on Uranus, I was busy learning this and getting a commission as an officer. My...siblings...”
He choked back a mix of rage and sadness, one fist clenched, “We don’t even murder Corpus youth, yet we received this treatment...I thought some Tenno would be different, but so far I only met one and she’s with us.”

She merely stood idle, keeping watch of the doorway as the Grineer worked his magic. Whatever were hidden in these vaults must of been very important to Tyl Regor. Perhaps this Galleon got a hold of some Orokin secrets again, Void knows what the Grineer had been doing ever since Captain Vor flew too close to the sun- or in this case, an Orokin tower. None the less before she knew it the Drekar was done and they could move on. Giving a quick nod, Voxx made her way back to the front of the vault, before stopping by the two crewmen who stood post.
Procuring a device from her hip, she handed over to the leftmost Corpus, speaking quietly. It was easy to infer just what they were saying as moment after the Crewmen disappeared into the vault after them. Getting their own copy of the files probably.
❝ And then there were three. The last vault should be up ahead, perhaps we’ll get lucky and the way will already be cleared for us… Hm, Say Drekar. How come you exhibit more… How should I say… Mmm. Intelligence than most Grineer? I’m sure someone of your expertise can realize how utterly one track-minded normal foot soldiers and even some of these… Well, commanders are. I mean, they’re all so predictable, so… Hell bent on just causing destruction and expansion. No further goal, no clear end. But you? Tyl Regor seems to be up to something. How did he manage ‘this’? ❞
It was mere curiosity that finally spilled from her mouth. She didn’t like Grineer, that much was apparent. They were all savage dogs in her mind. A combination of Corpus viewset as well as the general verdict she came too as her time as a rogue Tenno agent. She vowed never to work with a Grineer as long as she stood, but this? Merely an exception. At least the Grineer wasn’t some half brained imbecile. The walk to the last vault wasn’t long, but probably enough to sate her curiosity for the remainder of this unusual ‘partnership’.
He watched the one crewman walk off before he walked with the Mag and the other crewman. So she was curious? Who wouldn’t be? Grineer don’t exactly have the best reputation given the stupidity of the Old Grineer coupled with bloodthirsty commanders. Tyl was...different, had foresight, could think logically.
Even if he didn’t have the best of morality about him...he and the others developed a sense of it over time, affirmed in it with the arrival of their own Tenno in his employ. The Grineer were bound to have their bright future thanks to Tyl’s work and if his plans succeeded, Tyl could do as much science as he wanted until the myriad or organ transfers finally fail and he goes the way of all things flesh.
What could he say? He needed to say something but not betray their plans, Tyl’s intentions...He kept quiet for a few moments before he finally spoke up.
“I hope you don’t think the Manics were the true end result of what he was after. They were a mere stepping stone...as am I. Tyl values intelligence, the ability to think, Maybe it’s just the Drekar, but you may be surprised if you got to know us that we’re not all mindless drones. Look at Steel Meridian and the Kavor, and they’re Old Grineer. We have opinions, our own thoughts...I can’t make excuses for the others, but I do know the Drekar. Can’t keep us down forever.”
Hopefully that was sufficient. It’d be hard to explain motive otherwise without revealing their plot...and he wasn’t going to do that.

She should learn to appreciate the importance of tech guys. Grineer seemed to have their own version in the form of… Well, the one in front of her. But there was also Corpus Tech who’s job is… Exactly this. They cover the technical aspect for the Corpus. Fixing anything that’s broke, decoding any files they recover. Hacking into files they need to recover. Perhaps she should give them a pat on the back when she gets back to Neptune.
Speaking of, he seemed to have made quick work of the door’s lockdown protocol, opening the entrance right up for them. Taking one cautionary look behind herself, the Mag began trotting into the vault. She was familiar with Grineer vaults, sure. She was a lot more versed in Corpus vaults however. Sometimes you just had to sneak into an old outpost and steal some data for the Board. Enough of that though, everything that they were doing here is optional at this point but it at least ensured her a clean sweep of the place.
The frame was quiet, surveying the area. There should be patrollers around the area, just a quick head shot and-
She nearly yelped, crouching down behind a barrier and merely escaping the line of a Sensor Regulator. She didn’t even realize she was holding her breath when a wheeze finally escaped her person. That was… Way too close. What was also close was the quiet grunts of a Bombard near her position. This place was just crawling in them now weren’t they? She let out a disgruntled sigh as she peaked over the wall. Good, the sensor moved. Now… Line up the shot…
❝ Coasts clear now, let’s get that data quick. ❞
She made her way through the doorway, cracking the sensor on the way through. She made careful sure to not step on the corpse of the Bombard that just laid there.
He timed his sprint, sliding through the door after the sensor regulator moved its vision away from where he needed to go. As he stood and stepped over the dead Bombard, he moved over to the console placing his Dera on his back.
Furious typing ensued as he worked to crack the computer’s encryption. At least he didn’t need to activate his optical camouflage, better to save it for later. Once the encryption was broken, he inserted another device to copy the data while he started typing further, shutting down the sensor regulators nearby and unlocking the next area.
Once he got the ping the copying was done, he withdrew the device and stashed it, logging out of the terminal. Best to leave no trace after all. “Done, turned that stupid sensor off and opened up the next area. Ready when you are.” He took the Dera off his back, ready to go again.
Should be one more vault, and then helping to make sure everybody else on the ship is dead so he can leave. The Corpus may get the data as well, but it was a small price to pay to make sure Tyl gets it.
