You were dressed in your favorite items for the evening while the wind blew in your face. The last thing you remember him doing for you was a gentle kiss before he left for business. You wanted to cry out of defeat while sighing. He sincerely promised that you two will be there on this memorable day. Sadly, he didn't show up. It was nine in the evening when you looked at the time. You murmured, "Archons, where is he?" to yourself.
You shed a few tears as you cast a dejected glance out the window. You brushed away your tears and scoffed before going to your room to get dressed. You sensed powerful arms encircling your waist as you got ready. You turned around and gasped as you saw your beloved without his eyepatch. "Let's go down, shall we? I bought you something you've been eyeing for a long time now. My apologies, my darling. Unfortunately, we had business today and my meeting went longer than I anticipated. Rest assured, I didn't forget your birthday." He stated as you laughed softly stating that you thought he wouldn't return.
"I feel wounded, don't tell me you lost hope? I know how much important your birthday is to you, it's been a long time since we celebrated anything with just the two of us..." He continued, placing a soft kiss on your lips and guiding you to the kitchen.
You huffed angrily as you filled the maids in on everything. "Archons, he's so..! Argh! I do realize his job in preserving our nation, but can't he at least set it aside even just for a minute for me? Am I truly that unimportant to him?" You said as one of the maids refused, "Impossible, my lady. You are the most significant thing that has ever occurred to him. You brought life to his terrible life and well, awful disaster." You thought about her remarks before groaning, "So why then?"
You puffed while discreetly sobbing while they consoled you with their words. Soon, you looked up to see your beloved leaning against the wall, taking off his mask as he spoke, "Do you truly think so lowly of me?" The man takes off his coat and motions for the maids to have privacy. Soon, he added, "I'm sincerely sorry, dear. I made you feel that way. Don't ever forget how important you are to me."
"I just cleared everything as fast as possible and bought you a ring. One of the finest rings. I know that you perhaps don't care about money and that's... what I love about you. I truly love you, beloved, and I apologize." He stated, kissing your forehead as you engulfed him in a hug.
It was running late and your lover hasn't arrived yet. He told you that he would go see his family but you were starting to get worried. "Oh dear, I'm starting to doubt that he's coming." You spoke to yourself as he laughed, "Is that so?" You turned around to see him arrive with his brother, Teucer.
"What? He wanted to see you. You're his favorite, y'know." Soon, your worried state had disappeared as you ran to hug Teucer as Ajax rolled his eyes. "What's this, hm? Favoritism?" You laughed softly and went ahead to kiss your lover. "Anyway, I bought you flowers, cake, and Teucer's handmade toy! He wanted to give that to you..."
"Thank you, Teucer." You spoke as Teucer nodded happily and ran around the house, leaving you and your lover in private. "You loved me at my worst, (name). It's only right if I celebrate this day together with you." He spoke as he continued, "One day, will you marry me and become my wife?" He stated as you nodded, "Of course, Ajax. I swear we'll be together 'till the end." You stated as he leaned in and kissed your lips so gently. "Ew!" Teucer yelled as Childe ran after the boy.
Xiao was either fighting for Rex Lapis or rather doing something. Worried for your lover, he came home rather late. "Where were you?" You huffed as he glared at you. "What do you mean? I'm fighting for Rex Lapis and the people of Liyue." He stated, crossing his arms. "Xiao, please. I know you are loyal to him, but what about me? You swore this would be our day! It's my birthday, does that mean anything to you?!" You slightly raised your voice as he hesitantly yelled, "Birthdays are pointless for adeptis. Let alone, you having one only brings you near to death!"
Your eyes widen as your eyes were continuously watering. "How could you say that?!" You yelled back, slamming the door. The yaksha knew what he did wrong and yet, he was somehow scared that he'll lose you, like any other. Disappointed, he vanished into thin air.
It's been days since you've last seen your lover no matter how many times you called his name. Sighing sadly, you turned back as you felt someone holding your wrist. "Please, forgive me... I.." You didn't let him finish his sentence as you suddenly hugged the poor boy. "Oh, Xiao. I'm sorry..." He stood silently as he started again. "No, I should be the one to apologize. Birthdays are... special to mortals. I understood the importance of it. And so, I shall cherish it as well for your sake. I also made almond tofu with the traveler, and Rex Lapis has thought me more about mortals." He ended, hugging you tighter.
It was rather late and you were disappointed in your lover for coming home late. At this point, you didn't care for your birthday. Your eyes were tired and so were you in general. You collapsed in the couch as you heard the door creak. "Where have you been? Do you know how worried I was?" You spoke as he stood silently, injured.
"Archons, what happened to you?" You mumbled as he chuckled silently, "Don't mind it." He started as you raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean?! You're injured!" You yelled in panic as he raised his voice slightly in a harsh tone, "I said, don't mind it." Whimpering silently, you sighed. "Scaramouche, please let me do this for you." He scoffed at your words, "Don't pity me. There's nothing to worry about. You've done enough already. I feel indebted to you."
"I'm your lover, Scaramouche. It's only right if I do this for you, Kuzu." You stated as he huffed, "I said don't pity me! That isn't so hard, is it?!" He yelled, harshly grabbing your wrist. "Kunikuzushi, put my wrist down."
His breath hitched as he gently let go of your wrist, "Sorry..." He mumbled, "I just, remembered her." You lovingly held his cheek as you smiled softly, "I love you for who you are. There's no need to feel in debt to me." You spoke as he suddenly gave you a necklace, you looked up to see him embarrased. Scars and blush on his beautiful face, "I love you as well. So, take it. This is something that reminded me of you, as dark as I may be and as cruel as I am, you loved me. And so, I shall do the same to you." He spoke, softly kissing you, and soon, you felt a hand wrapped around your waist.
