Diary of Daybreak
[--Entry ???--]
We’ve been at war for…a minute. Like, a good long minute. Like, that kind of “minute” that seems longer than it is ‘cause you’re watching the hand tick each individual second off one at a time. And you think you’re counting down to some kind of end, and even if you’re hoping for the good kind of end, you’re not sure you’d mind the bad kind so much as long as it does, in fact, end. But you’re not counting down. You’re counting up. You’re counting to sixty. Then one-twenty. Then you lose count because you had to stop looking at the clock and start shooting again.
I don’t think any of us actually want to fight, either. Except maybe Trish. She really likes that big bazooka. Thing’s ridiculous. It’s as tall as she is!
What was I talking about? Oh, yeah.
The Sciftans invaded Ortuxia about twenty-nine years ago. Or, according to Dad, three Earth years. He also said he might’ve lost track of time, and it’s not like we can cross-reference with a planet that doesn’t exist anymore. So not sure if the Earth years are super accurate, but it’s my diary and I’ll use all the Earth words I want, dangit.
Dad also says these guys look like “dogs” and the fact that we look like “cats” is a little ironic, but I have no idea what either of those things are.
We don’t know anything about these guys. Only that they call themselves “Sciftans” and that they’re not from anywhere on Ortuxia.
I wish they’d just go away.
At first I was curious. Wanted to know what they wanted from us, where they were from, why they were here. We could’ve all been friends. But now we’re just tired. Guavato’s always been anxiety incarnate. But after their bio dad was killed in the first attack… Well, they never really liked that dickbag. But I don’t think they wanted him to die, either. And that’s to say nothing of the rest of our team. We’ve all got our issues.
I’m afraid this war’s gonna tear my friends–however few I have–and my family apart. I know…it’s far from over. I just hope one day I’ll be counting down to an end.
Any end.
[--Entry end--]
Rossco may be the sharpshooter, but she also has some sick bladed tonfa.

Snowflake might seem like a pushover, but you get him mad enough...well, you probably won’t live long enough to register the change in his expression.

Snowflake’s mace is actually a battleaxe when it’s fully powered on. However, Snowflake is more of a pacifist, so he uses it more like a mace.
You can only push a pacifist so far before he snaps, though.

Meet Snowflake! Don't let his size fool you--this longhaired, long-limbed tom is the gentlest soldier you'll ever meet. You may find yourself wondering if he's even suited for war. He's certainly wondering the same thing!
Although, if you make fun of his wobbly jaw, you may get your lights punched out. His team may be dysfunctional, but they all agree on one thing: No one fucks with Snowflake.

The collection of songs that’s basically my inspiration for Terminal Void. I like to brainstorm important story beats to the music that YouTube’s algorithm throws at me during work, and I save my favorites to a curated playlist for later listening. None of these songs are affiliated with Terminal Void, officially or otherwise, but if you give it a listen you might just hear what I’m trying to go for with this story.

Despite being half-Ortuxan with no concept of Earthan college, Daybreak is your typical frat guy.
Guavato’s having none of it.
