“Orlais is less than it advertises itself to be, mademoiselle - but do not let any Orlesian noble know I said that,” she said with a wink. “They would rather lose everything than agree that Orlais overstates itself. If they knew I thought that…!”
(She’s Fereldan. She already looks down on Orlais. So she’ll like to believe I share her opinion, and therefore like me more, too.)
“ I’m sure the Orlesian nobles would be too busy shoving their faces in Cavier and turkey and– whatever it is that they eat that is so– The point is I won’t tell anyone. Though I’m sure there are a number of people that share our opinions. Do you hate Ferelden? ”

“I do not think so, not zat I can recall. Mais, DuVal is a common enough surname, non?”

He shrugged, smirking. “We are agreed there, don’t worry. Not a lot of people get along with me.”
"Good." The Orlesian nodded firmly. She opened her mouth to say something - something about the avoidance of the whole war topic - but before she could, she heard banging, and jumped. "Maker, do they never give in?" She asked, unsheathing a throwing knife.
“Of course, but the best things have both beauty and function. Your cane holds you up, but it also makes you look more… noble.”
“Oh, pardon my manners, I have not even asked your name and I am commenting on your dress.”
He let out a soft laugh, filled to the brim with mirth as he extended his hand to the woman to shake.
“It’s quite alright, youngling. Ser Atreus Melchor, at your service.”
Ana took his hand in hers and shook it, a smile lighting up her face.
"It is a pleasure to met you, Ser Melchor. I am Anaïs Du Val; you may call me Ana."
“He did. Maker, he was pleased as punch to think he would be rubbing shoulders with the Inquisition. But rather … I had a favour to ask of you, Madame Inquisitor.”
Narya smiled. “Well it’s good someone thinks good about us.” she said. She looked at her and wondered what she might ask from her. “A favor? What kind of favor?” she frowned a bit.” And please, call me Narya.”
"Narya - I was rather hoping if you would consider allowing me to join the Inquisition," she asked. "It is.. of particular personal importance to me to leave home, and I am trained to fight. And I have grown up in places like this-" she gestured the Winter Palace"- so I may be of use to your Spymaster."
“My name is Anaïs Du Val, my lady,” Ana dipped into a slight courtesy. “I do not think I heard your own name being mentioned.”

"Morrigan - what a beautiful name," Ana sighed, wistfully. "Oh, do not mind me. You don't sound Orlesian. Are you from Ferelden, perhaps?"

“Do you plan to dissect me then?” He asked and smirked a little.
"Non," Ana giggled. "I just had questions, messere, nothing more."

“Your Orlesian, so perhaps a wanted notice. Or the butt of a bad joke. Take your pick.”
"Oh - yes, Maric's Shield. Yes - I know now. It is a pleasure to meet you, Ser." It doesn't hurt to be polite, even if they disagree on who should rule Ferelden.
