Really one of my most strongly held beliefs is that it’s deeply unhealthy and soul-stunting for children to only consume media the world’s most coddling and judgemental adults determined was ‘age-appropriate’, and watching stuff that would horrify your parents behind their back should be encouraged and rewarded.
remembering the bleak state of politics regarding children in wider society that when people say "you were mistreated by your parents as a child" 90% of the time its supposed to be an insult towards your character and not an appeal of sympathy
The way that "we're all faggots in the eyes of the state" is used to shut up trans women is I think particularly upsetting/offensive to me because, at least ime, that was not the context the phrase was originally used in. The warning expressed by "we're all faggots" was not and should not be some generic message about in-fighting and call to ignore intracommunity oppression. The way I first saw it used (and used it personally) was as a response to assimilationist queers, a reminder that no matter how much they try to distance themselves from the bad gays, to conform to society's expectations and desires, or how many of their queer siblings they throw under the bus, it will never be enough. The right wing will never be satisfied, because at the end of the day they don't care how respectable you are, they only care that you're a faggot. That's all you will ever be to them. Their mission is to barr us from public life, to eliminate us through state violence and legal disappearing tricks. Eventually you will run out of people to use as shields, and only then, when it is too late, will you have realized the awful truth. We are never going to be able to politely convince bigots not to hate us. The only option we have is to organize to protect the most vulnerable queer people and refuse to compromise on that.

hey man how you doing? ah yeah no it's just when I speak out loud I can write just fine
Hi im scared animal and welcome to my corner
how do i say "horror novels these days are too woke" without sounding like a right winger. what i mean is: this one is about a woman serial killer who kills Bad Men, that one is about ~anticapitalist activists~, this one is ~queer~, that one is about *spins wheel* someone dealing with the ghosts of their immigrant roots, all of them are about intergenerational traumaaaaa. okay. cool. but is it good though. is it fucking scary
something something, losing the ability to convey horror through abstraction, through metaphor, through symbolism, through allegory, through raw unexamined un-psychiatrized feeling. if the real horror is.... dun dun dun! the patriarchy then i just feel preached to. don't use fiction as a vehicle for Saying Something About Society. write with total vulnerability and then see what it says. it will be probably be far more interesting and horrifying than what if the monster was uhh my mom's abuse or whatever. this brand of new horror writers are all so terrified of actually disclosing anything about themselves. it's like if an instagram infographic performance was a mediocre contemporary novel
YOU ARE MAKING THE TEXT DO THE WORK OF ANALYSIS!!!!!!!
This essay came out a few years back and touches on some of the things you're talking about, it's good.

Haaaate when people reblog criticism of the family as a social unit where violence and oppression run free with "you mean the nuclear family. Other societies have different ways of organizing kinship groups-" ALL DEFINITIONS OF FAMILY. EVERY SINGLE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FAMILY.

thanks for making time for an interview for this managerial role overseeing the microsoft 365 team. what really stood out to us about you - and what rocketed you to the top of our list - was that part in your cover letter where you described yourself as a “sick fuck” who “would stop at nothing to see the microsoft 365 suite of products reduced to a functionless, pale imitation of their 2007-era predecessors” and that the user should “toil fruitlessly as they navigate a completely bewildering interface while being forced to ruminate on how they own nothing and instead rent increasingly expensive useless vapor.” when would you be available to start?
