There was a slight ringing in Jaden’s ears as he came to, his mind hazy. The more he awakened, the more aware he was of his surroundings. The room he was in was very dark, only lit by a few candles and the surface beneath him was hard and cold as the air around him. The ringing in his ears gave way to the sound of low murmurs that slowly formed words. It sounded like some sort of chanting. Feeling uneasy and confused, Jaden tried to sit up, but his body felt heavy and his arms and legs were bound with chains. What was going on? A feeling of panic began to set in and he started to protest his situation, but couldn’t find the words to speak.

Suddenly the chants began to grow in volume and intensity and Jaden began to feel pain spread through his body. He let out a scream as he felt like his body was being ripped apart from the inside, though no physical harm was being done. The feeling was coming from deep down in his soul. It was like someone was trying to rip it in half or rip out his heart by trying to separate him from Yubel and he could feel her being pulled away. Why would someone want to separate them after all he had gone through to unite them? “Yubel!” he screamed, reaching out for the other. The more they tried to reach each other, the further away Yubel became.

He let out another scream as more pain ran through him, his eyes flashing from brown to golden yellow and back again, but he was no longer on the strange stone table. He was sitting up in bed, panting heavily and tears streaming down his face. “Yu-Yubel?” He called out softly, his voice shaking. His horrid nightmare had been so vivid and felt so real, he was afraid he had actually lost Yubel.

Yubel was hovering over the boy, a fearful look on her face. He looked so terrified and she was absolutely helpless. She had been calling and calling but the boy was in too deep a sleep to be roused by her voice. And she was even more scared by that fact... Usually he would respond to her... He would open his eyes and look at her, and usually she could save him from his nightmares, but this one was different. She couldn’t help him at all. She was utterly helpless and she felt horrible about it- about being forced to watch Jaden call for her and struggle to escape the darkness he was enveloped in.  “Jaden, are you alright?” Yubel pressed her hands to his cheeks, cupping his face and pressing a warm kiss to his forehead. She adored the boy and would protect him in any way she could

Cue Jaden finally pulling out Yubel’s card, waving it a little in the open air before giving it a light, sweet peck of a kiss. Perhaps that would get through to the cranky spirit.

Looking up from the card still held at face level, he blinked slowly. “I’ll try. I really will.”

{ ✗ } ▬ A gasp was heard from Yubel, mouth being covered and cheeks flushing before the spirit gave a low grumble, words unclear. But Yubel seemed pleased with his answer and his actions, at least for the time being.

The piercing gaze had softened, being replaced with a flustered pout.  "You always say that..."  A statement that was, technically true but understandably so. After all this was Jaden... If he didn't talk about dueling, it would be pretty uncomfortable to see him so different.

"Now now, don’t be like that." Flashing the spirit a tender smile, a hazy look clouded his chocolate eyes. Jaden discreetly reached for her card. "You matter a lot to me, Yubel…”

{ ✗ } ▬ "Then stop ignoring me when I try to talk to you about something that isn't dueling!" The spirit chided, brow furrowing and heterochromic gaze narrowing in suspicion of the boy's tender smile.

Arms wrapped around Judai, bringing him into a soothing embrace and a clawed hand brushed through his hair, Yubel planting a kiss on his forehead. The spirit held her tongue, finding it easier to comfort the boy when she remained speechless.

Hurt and lost, Judai felt alone until the embrace remembered him - his guardian would always be around. Finding solace in the embrace, he was fighting back the tears

{ ✗ } ▬ For what seemed like eternity, Yubel held Judai- content to simply listen to the boy's soft breathing and indulge in his warmth. Yubel nosed into Judai's hair, breathing in his scent and placing another kiss on his head. "Judai, if you need to cry... Please do. It'll hurt a lot less." A fluttering sound signaled that Yubel had wrapped her wings around Judai, a shield to protect him from the rest of the world.

He wanted to smile at her, for her. To see Yubel so miserable broke his heart, but it would be cruel giving her false hope. It didn’t mean that he didn’t wanted to comfort her.

Stepping closer, he silently embraced her letting her cry if she wanted so or merely feel his warmth, his love.

{ ✗ } ▬ Yubel held tightly to Judai, never wanting to let go. She was so happy that she had him and she didn't want that to change. A smile flickered on her lips, dual-tinted hues focusing on Judai for a moment before she rested her head on his, arms wrapping around him and holding him close. Feeling his heart beat, she knew she was alive and that she was going to be happy, even if she and Judai were not together in the romantic sense.  Surprisingly, the fall was softer than she thought... Perhaps it was because, though she was not with him, she was still with him. And even if there wasn't that romantic love, they still knew that they meant the world and more to each other. Yubel knew that Judai didn't like seeing her in pain. She had to reassure him that she was not hurting... That he hadn't done anything wrong. "Judai... I'm alright. Just keep smiling for me?" Her voice as warm, soft and her lips pressed a light kiss on the top of his head, face nuzzled into brunet locks.

His eyes widened with the sudden intimate contact

Judai’s mind wanted desperately think of something, but he was completely dazed by the kiss. This beautiful, incredibly strong gesture which bring two lovers together. Unfortunately it was the wrong type of love. His love for her transcended lifetimes, they are now together for all eternity as their boundless love gave him strength in a hopeless moment and allowed him to produce a small miracle - and who knows how many others it is going to allow?

The word he was looking for was one unknown to him Agape The unconditional love, a bond so deep that cannot be truly translated into English. A selfless, spiritual love of the soul, the ultimate form of love according to some beliefs.

Actually, the traveler never felt the romantic love before for some reason and it never bothered him maybe except for now. As it became clear she wouldn’t stop it on her own, Judai gently touched her shoulders and pushed their bodies away.

Words were failing him, his usually sharp mind was failing him. How to put it without hurting her? Judai loved her so much, cared so much about her and the last thing he wanted is to hurt her even more than he already did.

{ ✗ } ▬ Yubel knew that she had done something wrong, instantly regretting the kiss. She stepped away from Judai, turning her back on him. "I'm the one who should be sorry." She had pushed him and made him suffer and now she was just adding more burdens to him. "I... I don't know what got into me." Yubel didn't want Judai to see her tears. She didn't want him to worry that he had hurt her. Because, as much as Yubel felt like she was going to shatter into pieces, she knew that Judai would be there for her.  No matter what happened, he'd be there with her and they'd always be together. She knew that she had no right to be hurt or sad. Yubel was being selfish and was reaping the consequences of that greed. Swallowing hard, Yubel forced the tears away and turned to face Judai. "I shouldn't have done that. It was clear that I was pushing you and I should have taken the hint." The apology never felt like enough. Yubel wanted to apologize again and again and it felt like she could say it until the end of the world, but it wouldn't be good enough to make it up to Judai. There was nothing that could make it up to Judai.
