Ah, right. Parallel universes and whatnot. But he was so cute, and she was so used to seeing him as a soft little angelâŠÂ
No, no. Garlude. This was a distinguished Kirby. a grown-up Kirby. Be mature.
âWe can go get ice cream, if thatâs whatâd youâd like? Would you?â
Or, keep talking to him like a little kid. I guess that works, too.
He wouldâve gotten on her case for continuing to treat him like that, but now she was offering him food so the context had shifted.
âYeah, Iâd like that. That sounds good.â
He looked down at the ground, then at her. He waggled his nubs at her.
âCarry me.â
Heâd whined. Yes, he was a very mature Kirby who was very much an adult. Which is why he wanted to be carried. Maybe he was purposefully taking advantage of her willingness to treat him like a child, or maybe it was his ego telling him he didnât want to walk everywhere.
Despite just a second ago he wouldâve fought her for touching him, here it was very different.
Garlude happily scoops Kirby into her arms and skips along the grassy path. Good lord, the dramatic irony is stifling. In no time at all, sheâs purchased and procured two lovely sea-salt ice cream bars, handing one to the evil-filled creampuff.
âWould you like me to-?â She fumbles with the paper covering her own treat, and then reminds herself that this Kirby is different than hers.
In a whole lot more ways than one.
x @terrorinmauve
âIâm not a baby, lady, donât to talk to me like Iâm a baby because Iâm not a baby.â
Seeing as how Grape was not used to Kirby talking, he assumed the two had never met before. He let her pat him, closing his eyes momentarily and keeping any discomfort to himself at being touched. Because this was Grape weâre talking about here, he felt especially uncomfortable in her presence. He knew she was a threat to him.
âAnd no, it tastes bad. Iâm hungry, though, so.â
Ah, right. Parallel universes and whatnot. But he was so cute, and she was so used to seeing him as a soft little angel...Â
No, no. Garlude. This was a distinguished Kirby. a grown-up Kirby. Be mature.

Or, keep talking to him like a little kid. I guess that works, too.
[terrorinmauve] "What are you doing all the way out here?" Oh boy, it's Grape. Of course, to Kirby, she's just 'Garlude'. Have fun explaining yourself!
Hi Grape.
By the way, heâs now eating grass. Well, trying to eat grass. Heâs like.. Gumming at grass. He gets a piece into his mouth with his tongue and he immediately scrunches his face in disgust.
âIâm doing very important things.â
Was his response.
Garlude squeals. âAww! You can talk! Thatâs adorable!â
She doesn't even question why heâs imitating a drunk cow, she just thinks at this squishy little marshmallow is the most goddamn precious thing in the galaxy.
"Does it taste good?â Oh god, sheâs babytalking him. Garlude extended her hand for a gentle patpat atop the puffâs head.

The salesman grinned and from behind his back he presented to her with a catalog.
âA choice I wasnât expecting of you, but none the less I am more then happy to help you select the perfect demon beast companion.â He handed it to her, and turned it to a page that showed off a demon beast with a bright crystal eye surrounded by different gem stones.
âMay I suggest this lovely demon beast called Radiant? I think they would be a perfect fit for you~â
Radiant⊠didnât look like any of the monsters that Nightmare had had previously. Hell, she didnât even think he would have ever wanted made a monster like this, unless he was trying to make some sort of creature that preyed on high-society types.
Besides, he already had the company itself to con the rich. But Garlude remained stone-cold as she stared at the page.Â
âShe does look quite intimidating.â the warrior said, tapping a finger to her chin. âThough Iâm not sure how confident I can be on the purchase without a test run.â
âOf course~ This way please.â The salesman turned and motioned for her to follow. He walked to the back of the store, and now Garlude could see a long hairless tail that swished lightly as he walked. He lead her to a hallway with multiple and stopped in front of one.
He opened the door revealing a large training room. He lead her inside, and closed the door. âHow would you prefer this demo to run Ms.Garlude? I can have Radiant simply show off their abilities, or since I know how you knights are, you can spare them too. Itâs your call madame~â He made a box apear in his hands and opened it to reveal the crystal eye surrounded by the different gemstones.
âRadiant, come out and greet our guestâ The crystal glowed and lifted into the air. The other gemstones rose with them and surrounded them.
âSo what will it be?~â
âA demoâs fine,â Garlude said. âIâve had enough fights to last me a good millennium.â
And besides, If Customer Service was busy gushing about his new monster to her, then she could scope out this place for little pink puffballs undeterred. Trying to divert suspicion, she calmly handed back the catalog and gave an innocent smile.
âI expect to be impressed.â

"I like you, alive girl."
Garlude, still with curlers in her hair and her sleep-mask half on, walks right back into her room and emerges with a broom.
âOut. Out of this house.â

Radiant... didnât look like any of the monsters that Nightmare had had previously. Hell, she didnât even think he would have ever wanted made a monster like this, unless he was trying to make some sort of creature that preyed on high-society types.
Besides, he already had the company itself to con the rich. But Garlude remained stone-cold as she stared at the page.Â

"..." Silence was the only thing that Knuckle Joe was emitting as he stared at the Star Warrior before him..He opened his pendant, not believing the person it belonged to was standing in front of him. It...It couldn't be.. "...Dad?" Somebody must have a sick and twisted mind to pull a prank like this.. ||@multirightbackatyou. A little something while I work on your ask! â||
âJoe!â
Jack was head over heels excited. Damn, Meta Knight hadnâtbeen wrong about them being⊠absent for a while. Heâd grown up so much already.Oh man, the things he could tell him, all about the GSA, and the battles he and his team went through, andeverything!Â
Though, it was a little strange. Didnât Meta Knight advise that theyshouldnât meet so soon, and that there shouldâve been a little more time tomellow out before they dropped the news?He chose to ignore these red flags, maybe he was just overthinking.Â
Nerves and all that.
Knuckle Joe..was skeptical about this. What if this was a monster from NME pretending to be his father. It wouldnât be impossible. They made monsters as powerful as Masher for crying out loud, and there had been many times heâd seem his dad, but they were only in dreams that turned to nightmares.
â..How do I know youâre real, huh?â Could you blame Joe for not believing it was his real father? All that Joe knew is that heâs been dead for years. Was Meta Knight lying about that? What was that guy trying to cover up?!
Of course.
Yeah, he was beginning to see the drawbacks of this situation. But, hey! He noticed that Joe still had his medallion; so Meta Knight had been true on his word and given it to him. There- there still was that going for this situation! Just need to de-escalate it.
âJoey, look,â He takes a half-step forward, not wanting to freak out the tween any more than he already did. âWhatever youâre thinking, itâs not nearly as bad as you think! Thereâs a really long, really big explanation to this whole thing, but you have to listen to me first.â
@terrorinmauve liked for a starter!
The demon glaced up from the documents in his hand to the fornt of the shop as a customer walked in. He studied the newcomer closely, certain he had seen her before. It took a moment for his memory to recall, and then he smiled.
âWelcome~ I must say I wasnât expecting a warrior of your background to find this place.â The salesman man stood, not bothering to shift his form to his smaller size, and towered over the star warrior at 8 ft as he walked over to her. He bowed formally and held a hand out for her to shake.
âRegurdless Iâll take this meeting as a blessing. Their is certainly a lack of talented warriors since the war, annd Iâd hate to see that small percent drop furthur.â His voice was smooth and alluring as if he where courting her rather then doing business.
âSo, How may I be of assistance to you Ms.Garlude?â
Wow.
Those sure are a pair of hooves, huh?
Garlude stood frozen in place, staring up at the fuchsia salesman. She definitely liked the new suit and the change of pace, but she still wasnât going to let him off the hook so easily. Kirby had wandered off, and a little shop of horrors such as this seemed like the perfect puffball trap.
Time to play it subtle.
âAny new monsters in stock?â

"I feel like my life is missing something, Grape." Nightmare sounds as genuine as someone being not genuine at all can sound. "I think I know what it is. It's peanut butter. So hand it over. I know you have some, you're just hiding it from me."
âI donât know what youâre talking about.â

Stabbed? How can someone overlook being stabbed?Â
Oh, right. He could.
Looks like Jecra had him down to a T already.
âYeah, this rockâs a little lonely with only me around. Good to meet ya!â He claps Jecraâs hand into a locked handshake and grins. Firm grip, too. âIf itâs all the same to you, I could make it up to ya. Kawasakiâs grub isnât high-class, but itâs the least I could do after nearly chopping you like a log.â
Jecra resists the urge to squeak when Jack grabs his hand.
âOh, thatâsâ You donât have to do that, itâs no big deal really. Buuuut~âŠâ He tilts his head back and forth, pretending like he needs a moment to consider the offer. Heâs already made up his mind that he definitely wants to accept. âItâd be rude of me to turn you down, wouldnât it? I mean, food sounds great, Iâm starving.â
Jecra makes a motion with a cheery, âAfter you!â He doesnât want to admit he still doesnât know where everything in town is, so he figures he can just play it off like heâd rather follow than lead. The two of them may be right by Kawasakiâs, but he sure doesnât know that.
âCan do.â Jack rounded the corner towards the modest corner restraint with the blue banner. âYo! Kawasaki!â he yelled as they walked through the front door.
He almost immediately came out of the kitchen, his hands still full of dirty plates. âLong time no see, Jack! Howâve youâŠâ
The orange chef practically dropped all the dishes in his arms when he whoâd come in. His expression still remains the same; a half open mouth and glassy eyed stare at the duo, until he shook it off.
âGosh! I didnât know you had a brother!â he giggled. âWhat can I get you both?â
Stunned but relieved at Kawasakiâs lack of a reaction, Jack sat down, pulled up a chair, and narrowed his eyes at the menu. He knew a few languages, but Cappyese was a bit rusty. He scanned the page until he found a bowl of noodles that looked suitable.
âHowâs about this?â
terrorinmauveâ:
Number One: this guy seemed more annoyed that heâd been threatened, rather than worried. Was this a daily occurrence in Cappy Town? It sure seemed like it, what with Dedede appointing 5 different Captains of the Guard.
Number Two: he called himself Jecra. The Universal Code version of his name. Dioss was already a complex language to learn, and Jecra was usually the only word that fit into peopleâs heads. It was the pseudonym heâd unintentionally taken on and was known by, what with the weird conversion into opposing characters. Maybe this was just some innocent costumed onlooker.
âŠwho he just pulled a sword on. Meta Knight would never let him hear the end of this.
âSorry, pal. Got a little carried away,â He put his sword back in itâs sheath, but kept his hand on the hilt, just in case. âCrazy things have been goinâ on around here, and suffice to say, weâre all a little on edge. The nameâs Jack.â
Ah, yes. The accentâs on full display now. Wonder how Jecraâs going to respond to that.
As Jack sheathed his sword, Jecra let go of the breath he didnât realize he was holding. Maybe he was a little nervous about the sword to his throat after all. He folded his ears back as he relaxed a bit, stepping back from the armed man just for safetyâs sake.
âDonât worry about it, Iâm used to it. Thereâs this guy I know, who keeps threatening me and Iâve been stabbed a time or two andââ Jecra stops himself and shakes his head, waving his hand quickly. âNever mind, thatâs not important.â
He flicks his ears curiously and looks the other man over. Itâs so, so strange how similar Jack looks to him, but maybe itâs just a coincidence. The galaxy is huge, surely he isnât the only one with that messy, dirty blond hair, that violet skin, that mask, that outfit⊠Actually, thatâs beyond weird.
Well, itâs whatever, he supposes. Weird or not, he should at least try to be friendly. Smiling brightly, Jecra holds his hand out to Jack. âNice to meet you, Jack! Not often I see another Elven so far from home!â
Stabbed? How can someone overlook being stabbed?Â
Oh, right. He could.
Looks like Jecra had him down to a T already.

@nightmaresindreamland
âWait, wait!â
Garlude pulled out an umbrella, comically sized and covered in purple gingham.
âOkay, Iâm ready.â
@starlight-knight
Squint.
Garlude had told him that there would be some more colorful faces in town. But he hadnât expected this. If he didnât know any better, heâd think this was some kind of costumed performer in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Whatâd Tiff call it, again? Cat-ploy? Caps lay?
But the way he carries himself, the way he talks, the way he acts⊠itâs like looking in a mirror, except not. He feels a bit like Yamikage, perched up high in a tree and examining the guy. When the other him walked into an adjacent alleyway between Bookemâs jail and Kawasakiâs restaurant, he leapt down before him with a dull clatter and a murderous glare in his eyes. Great, now he really felt like Yamikage.
Jack raises his sword to the copyâs throat. âWho the hell are you, and why do you look just like me?â
The sudden appearance of⊠Himself? startles Jecra as he stops with a jolt, but the brief panic fades when the other man brandishes a sword at him. He rolls his eyes and sighs loudly. Itâs too early for this.
The Elven man thinks for a moment, unsure what course of action to take in this situation. Heâs not really in the proper position to run or disarm this⊠Double. Maybe he can talk this guy down.
âHey, hey, chill out, no need for that. My name is Jeaâ Jecra, everyone calls me Jecra,â he says, lifting his hands slowly. âIâve been told I look like a number of famous people.â Heâs laughing, but its forced, his annoyance at being threatened again beginning to show through.
âJokes aside, maybe I should ask you the same question! I mean, Iâd say you look familiar but thatâd be an understatement!â
Number One: this guy seemed more annoyed that heâd been threatened, rather than worried. Was this a daily occurrence in Cappy Town? It sure seemed like it, what with Dedede appointing 5 different Captains of the Guard.
