a drag path etched in the surface, as evidence I left there on purpose...
fix me

can you? can you? can you find me?
I dug my heels into the gravel... as evidence for you to unravel a drag path etched in the surface.
can you find me?
~ do you see what this has cost me to leave this trail? are you willing to follow it without me having to explain myself again? You would please hurry... Please, please, please ~
Saskia wasn't even sure if she wanted to understand, even if she was actually able to. Perhaps it was better off for everyone if she didn't understand, the world would probably implode if she actually had a clue what was happening. It's like that age old quote; if ignorance is bliss, she must be one happy fucking idiot.
Leaning over, she took Nico's hand to give it a gentle squeeze. "It's okay, I'm sorry for not really understanding things; I know I'm not really helping things," she gave him a soft smile before letting his hand go before looking down at the table.
"Fuck no," she laughed, fidgeting with the sleeve on her jacket. "I feel like words aren't real anymore since I've had to look at the same ones over and over, it's so frustrating. Are you ready?"
Head shook lightly. There was never much of a chance of Nico's word vomit being translated into comprehension. He hardly understood it himself, pages upon pages filled with worry and lamenting of the unknown as he attempted to make sense of the fragility of life and what lay beyond it- or if there was anything at all.
He fixes a smile on his lips, shrugging. He rarely had trouble with his studies within the confines of the curriculum. At least it was a distraction from his own mind which kept him under lock and key at night. “Ready or not.” He replies, tapping his pen against the table. “I’ll be happy once they’re over. I know the material, but exams tend to psyche me out. The pressure surrounding the actual tests is worse than taking them. I know it’s not any different than a regular test, but for whatever reason its weight feels heavier.”
"It's ok, you don't have to thank me... I just, well, I'm not sure why you called me." Dex replied, watching the other for a few moments as he allowed him to explain what it was that was bothering him. Whatever it was that was going on, it was certainly serious and that made him worried. Because... "What is it I can do to help you? I mean, I absolutely will do whatever I can, but I just don't really know what I can do."
"I don't know... I realize it's asking a lot, and I wouldn't have gone to you if I had another avenue but..." Nills, for once, was at a loss for words. "You work alongside the authorities." Almost poised as a question, his inflection raises at the end of his sentence. "I just don't know what to do, and I don't think I can go to the police without..." incriminating not only himself but Nico. "It was a decade ago, but it feels like so much longer." Every day, every hour, it was nearly impossible not to imagine the visage of Keons's silhouette gripping the skull of the man Nills had been in love with. "We were young, and I didn't know what to do. I'd take the fall, but I know they would dig deeper. I can't let Nico be charged for this too. If I turn myself in, if I go to the police and admit to assisting in the murder of ListoSiden, I just need to be sure that Nico would be left alone and protected from whatever Keons might be planning."

Muse: Dex Farrington. 32-36. 911 Dispatcher (and dog dad)
The snapping of fingers and someone distantly saying his name was what brought him out of his trance, and Dex blinked a few times, turning towards them with a slightly baffled expression on his features.
"Ah, shit- sorry. I kinda missed everything you just said, didn't I?"
Fingers stall in the air before dropping to the table with a smile. "Nothing I'm not used to with my students." The physics professor replies, settling into his chair. "I said, thank you for meeting me... I wasn't sure who else to go to..." and frankly, he's still not sure if this is the right thing to do. The hairs on the back of his neck have been in a perpetual state of shock, catching glimpses of Keons in his periphery for weeks.
"I uhm... Well, it's a pretty long story to get into, but I'm pretty sure my old college... friend... is going to kill me or another friend of ours." He swallows, eyes not quite meeting Dex's, "Again."
Very interesting. I’m not so sure I fully agree with Keons, but some questions didn’t have any answers he fully agreed with. BUT. It’s very interesting how he is Recklessly, and his counterpart in the Tetrad is Nills: Carefully. Which is why they never have meshed well and both of their obsession towards Listo is presented but stems from opposite desires: adoration and jealousy. And Listo’s and Nico’s- the other side of the coin, is carefully and casually. 😭 but totally makes sense by Nills and Nico are the same… but Listo is one who will choose passion of his studies over the mundane of love of another any day. The sweetest, kindest person in the world, but not the best to love. 🥴
Nills:
Carefully, like a gentle rain on dry Earth
You've been left beaten down and by someone you really trusted and loved, so now love doesn't come easy for you. You want it to. You want to love and be loved, but you're not sure you remember how. So you need someone else to take the lead. They have to be gentle and sweet and patient. They have to watch out for you, and make sure youre doing okay, because most days you feel a little fragile, if not totally shattered. But someone will come along who will put those pieces back together again.
ListoSiden:
Casually, the same way you love to breathe
You want someone who will see your favorite flower and will give it to you, without even thinking about it. You want someone who will remember all the little details about you, the things so seemingly unimportant but that matter more than you thought they did. You want someone who will still be there, thirty years down the line, holding your hand while the two of you do two separate things. You want the intimacy of being known by someone who makes you feel safe. You don't want expensive dinners or grand proposals. You want someone who will love you consistently.
Nico:
Carefully, like a gentle rain on dry Earth
You've been left beaten down and by someone you really trusted and loved, so now love doesn't come easy for you. You want it to. You want to love and be loved, but you're not sure you remember how. So you need someone else to take the lead. They have to be gentle and sweet and patient. They have to watch out for you, and make sure youre doing okay, because most days you feel a little fragile, if not totally shattered. But someone will come along who will put those pieces back together again.
Keons:
Recklessly, like a horse running as fast as he can
You've been told that the way you love can never last, and that heartbreak is inevitable. But you don't want to love carefully. You want to love with reckless abandon. You want to love with everything you have, and you want to be loved the same way. You don't want them to worry about tomorrow. Make today worth living for.
"Once again, you lied to my face." - surprise me hehe gimme angsty angstttt heheh
"I withheld the truth purposefully, a prevarication, but at no point was there any mendacity shared." Keons replies casually, a shrug lifting unamused shoulders. "If you intend to castigate me, have the evidence to back up your accusations.”
With hands tucked nervously in his pockets, Nico stand a step behind Keons. “Nills is okay, I promise. And ListoSiden. Some experiments take longer than others…” bordering on two weeks was a lengthy experiment to continue, but everyone had been in agreement that this could throw the doors of discovery wide open if successful. Hence why they had waited until after finals to begin. Now that they were bordering the end of winter break, it was time for Keons and Nico to begin worrying about breaking the experiment early… they needn’t worry quite yet. Though hiding the true nature behind where and what Nills and Listo were doing was becoming difficult.
Nico continued, “Keons and I have been monitoring their progress and are closely tracking their health. As of yet, there is no reason for concern.” He smiles, an attempt to diffuse the tension clinging in the air. “If something were wrong, believe me, I would let you know.”
Yara smiled and his fingers gently wrapping around her wrist and worked. Sweat beaded on her brow as she focused every last ounce of her energy on reimagining the cells in his body reforming. Healing was more scientific than people realised but she supposed that's why all those years ago people were so quick to put those on the pyre for having that superior intellect or inquisitive mind.
She felt sharp pain shooting up her finger tips, down her arms and blossoming on her at the very place she was healing him. Being careful to make sure she was breathing she looked up at Listo. This kind of pain wasn't something anyone should experience so regularly and so she would suffer it with him.
The minutes stretched on and her arms grew shaky but she did not stop until she saw the last of the deep purple turn into a dull yellow before smoothing into his skin. Her arms dropped to her sides as she took a deep breath and tried to not let too much of her fatigue show. "There. How does that feel?" Yara's body ached but she knew there would be no visible sign. Her tonic would soon kick in to ease the ghost of her discomfort.
It was a marvel of mystery. Magic thrumming through her fingertips and cycling it through his chest. Its influence working in tandem with white blood cells to speed the process of regeneration and restore the skin's coloration. A tingling hum erupts and vibrates through a body so eager to accept and study the effects during the process. Though he does not mean to stare, he finds him entranced by her face. He wishes to consume every minuscule detail she offers. Questions burn at the tip of his tongue with each passing session, though they are tempered to the best of his ability to preserve respective boundaries.
The slow dissipation of magic circulates through his body, and he is left with a sense of calm not just emotionally but throughout his entire body. No aches. No pain. No discomfort. Just peace. One day, he will unravel the mystery of it all. Until then, he taps a slow rhythm upon his chest to the beat of his steady heart. He nods, taking what is the first breath without pain since their latest experiment.
"Much better. Thank you, Miss Rios. It's always a pleasure to see you; not only because of your gracious generosity. How are the circumstances of this world treating you?" ListoSiden smiles, reclothing himself with his shirt.
