i guess i find him a little sedate and internal in the book. it feels much more fitting for him to be someone who externalizes stuff any chance he can get because he’s so smothered at home and it invariably comes out nastily because of who he hangs out with—namely richie (vulgar) and stan (sarcastic). i really like the idea that him being super mean and having a horrible mouth is 1. the most effective subconscious method of rebelling against the control of his mother and 2. a direct exhibition of stuff he’s picked up from richie lol
