I know this is high key triflin...

But part of me is excited to watch everyone get their hopes crushed as they realize that participating in the 2-party system doesn't lead to revolution. They've been insisting so smugly that I can't wait to watch them eat their words. Won't make the world any better and I don't have a plan other than socialism, but hey I'm allowed to be this way if they're allowed to be that way.

Hey do y'all fucks remember two years ago when just before the election all these “don’t vote both parties are bad” or “vote independent!” Posts were going around and then Trump won and now two weeks before midterms there’s all these “don’t bother voting, revolution is the only way!” And “your vote isn’t gonna matter and is an ineffective way to protest” posts are going around? Yeah knock that shit right the fuck off, don’t fall for it and get your ass to the polls, we are not doing this again.

Vote blue. Theres no other option. Theres no other party that is going to be in power other than republicans or democrats. VOTE. BLUE.

There are absolutely other options.

1. Independent Party (though they also often have issues with racism)

2. Form your own political party, PAC, ballot initiatives (not easy, but real and potentially effective if you still want to work within the system)

3. Form stronger communities so that regardless of whether we get Racism (tm) or Racism Lite (tm), people are taking care of each other.

4. Invest in ways of existing that enhance the ability to imagine what freedom truly looks like instead of resigning to the 2 party system being the only possibility for governance now and forever (nothing lasts forever, look at the Roman empire)

5. Vote within the 2 party system AND try 2, 3, and 4 since it only takes a few fucking minutes to vote

#y'all are depressing as fuck #like the culmination of the Movement for Black Lives was voting in Black ppl?#we had a whole Black mayor and folks on city council #and they are no less white supremacist in their actions and ideology

Is such a fucking vague rallying cry. Vote for who? For what? For which interests? People who will use my community and refuse to represent us? People who still for some goddamn reason think that "tough on crime" is anything but a racist dogwhistle? Issues that will only help resourced whites? If the two party system is all that ppl are willing to imagine then what's the point? I'm fucking tired of ppl. If you wanna vote, fine. If not, fine. What are you doing the rest of the year? Empowering the people you shamed through misguided ideology/need for a check? Organizing teach ins about political awareness and political power? Buying a bus pass for somebody? Watching somebody's kids for free? Creating a scholarship? Helping niggas get jobs? Connecting ppl without resources to ppl with resources?

No? None of that shit? Just handing power over to a small group of ppl who probably don't represent you and your interests (if you even really know yourself and your interests) and expecting them to get it right? Okay. That's fine. Just keep that same energy next time you feel inspired to talk down to disenfranchised ppl about participating in a system that gives no fucks whether we live or (often enjoys watching us) die.

I can't wait for the election to be over so y'all can shut the fuck up about voting and not actually do shit else in the intervening months and years
