I too enjoy hurting and abusing characters in fiction very much but could we not have thought of a word that sounds slightly less stupid than Whump about it.

"Guy" and "man" have different connotations with adjectival nouns. Like "tree guy" = arborist but "tree man" = he lives in a tree, or maybe he is a tree.

Thane is sincerely not the best person for cunning. He can be clever and he definetly have his rare moments of cunning. However, 9 times out of 10, Thane will be straightforward and honest with you and I think that is one of the reasons he liked the most by people.
