What I find so refreshing about the Incredibles is how much like a real family they are. Dash and Violet argue about who has babysitting duty, and try to unload their baby brother onto one another. Helen and Bob disagree, argue, and fight. Jack Jack drives them all up the wall with frustration. Despite all this, they support and love one another unconditionally, which shines through the screen beautifully. Even though they’re a superhero family, I can see my own family dynamic in them. It’s a testament to the love and care the writers put into developing them as a family, and I just really appreciate it.

I think the reason why Kylo is so hard to sympathize with his because the character Finn exists.

Kylo was born with wealth, privilege, a loving family, and Force powers. Finn was an enslaved child soldier with no family and nobody who cared about him.

Kylo may have been influenced by Snoke but he was also influenced by Luke, Leia, Han, and Jedi values. Finn grew up hearing nothing but First Order propaganda.

Yet when the time came for them to make a choice Finn made the right one and Kylo made the wrong one. Finn chose not to murder innocent people while Kylo did multiple times.

Seriously. Kids don’t have the bigotries adults do until adults teach them. It’s incredibly easy to explain being, say, trans to a kid. They get it and move on.
