Dysphoric mania (or maybe mental illness in general) sucks because I started crying while dying my hair two different colors on New Year's Eve because a guy I like didn't want to hang out with me like he said he would. So my solution was to take about twice the amount of seroquel I usually take.

I will always be an advocate for prioritizing basic data and statistics in high schools over calculus

95% of the population will get more use out of a basic data and statistics class than a calculus class. Almost everyone comes into contact with data and statistics in their everyday lives.

I've taken several research/data centered classes in college. There's so much people don't realize about the ways statistics can be biased. It's a topics my methods class spent weeks on.

People need to know what makes a good, representative sample. How to spot a bad sample. The different types of sampling. What's the difference in a stratified sample vs a systematic sample? A snowball sample vs a cluster sample? A random vs a convince sample?

How can the sample population bias research? How can the way the research is being conducted bias it? Who's more likely to engage in a phone survey over a mail-in survey? How can research be regionally biased? Confirmation bias? Funding bias?

How is the information being presented to you? What kind of graph/chart is it using? What is the graph used for? What is it trying to tell you? is it well constructed? Do the visuals match the information being presented? Is this the right kind of graph for the information being presented?

What is the difference in the mean, median, and mode? Which one is more accurate? How might the mean sway someone one way and the median or mode sway them another?

Are the statistics being presented in an accurate way? How can you check? How are the statistics being worded? How might an article, ad, news network, etc present the same statistics in different ways to push their own bias?

People come across statistics everyday that influence the way they see the world. They influence how people think, what people believe. They influence how people vote.

A lot of these things people don't know- or think about until they're told about them.

Everyone needs to know how to properly interpret data and statistics, and how the spot good statistics vs bad statistics.

As someone who spent a lot of time in high school working with the parents who volunteered at school events, in my experience most of them don't give a shit about you.

As soon as you're out of earshot they'll shit talk you worse than the plastics at lunch. They act all nice and sweet up front, like they're in it for the kids. WRONG!! They're in it for brownie points. To be able to brag about all the volunteer work they do.

Sometimes you'll stumble across on who genuinely cares about the kids and watching after them and helping them, but 98% of parent volunteers hate the children
