(( Mun here. Sorry I been extra slow to reply, I’m usually not that slow like ever.
I am caught up with both a nasty cold and a sinusitis and three costumes and a backdrop to finish for Halloween. On top of work. I kinda want to die here.
So If I owe you a tag, please please poke me so I can remember who I owe a tag to.
I really hope to get better over the weekend and reply to everyone then. ))
Event 3 (( Semi- open? Anyone can jump in I guess ))
Maureen was frowning. Not that it was unusual, but there she still was, making a face and being annoyed.
She still had the nagging feeling that someone been tempering with the voting process in some way. It was ridiculous. She didn’t remember anything yet again. Even then, the Strex employees within the council had not enough traction to push such a thing through.
Night Vale watches after their own, after all. The fact that the latest vote went against Night Valians, that wasn’t typical at all. Ridiculous authoritarian laws were one thing, but it never lead to more than a session of HBO and a good night sleep in the shaft. That and a bit of shaking about, blindfolded, in an unmarked car. At least the SSP was nice enough to leave you within a block or two of your home.
She stopped by the Flynn’s house on her way to college. She left a bag on the porch. In the bag there was a book and in the book there was a bookmark. The bookmark had the detailed and properly labeled cross section of an eye printed on it. This was written underneat: “People always should watch, think you can keep an eye on us? ”
To Cecil, she sent a text message again:
(TXT) MEJKIP!
(TXT) TI LIIB RU DERFIP RFI LODFR SEJI MEPR UC RFI ZUYLZOJ UYRQOBI UC OR. RFOQ OQ DIRROLD POBOZYJUYQ. OC OR'Q RFOQ IEQV RU KEHI YQ DU EDEOLQR UYP UTL, O TELLE HLUT FUT RFIV BU OR ELB TFIL OR FEMMILQ.
(TXT) O'K QU KEB ER RFOQ QFOR. QIPOUYQJV.
And to Vithya another text message:
(TXT) Need info for a school project. Do certain beings capable of flight always create interference or can they modulate it? If they can’t modulate it, what is the minimum average of beings needed for an interruption of a couple hours longs (let’s say 3 )? If they can, how long can they modulate the process for? Does it take more or less beings in such a case?
If no one else was getting things in motion, then so be it. She’ll deal with that. At least she got some time to feed pizza to the turtles on her way to class.
Maureen was at home, for one of those rare time, trying to finish yet another college assignment (when do they ever stopped anyways). But instead of concentrating on the task at hand, she was fidgeting. Recent events had her on her toes and well lack of sleep wasn’t helping either.
She poked at her phone and decided to call an old friend.
(Text: ) Is that phone number still working? Do, well you know, you guys actually keep cells? If you reply I guess that would be a yes.
[txt] Most of us do actually but many people forget that we can
[txt] Nice to hear from you Maureen; is something wrong however??
It was very nice to hear from her dear friend! But, there must’ve been a reason right? Oh gosh, she hoped Maureen wasn’t in trouble of some kind!
The cellphone buzzed and Maureen smiled, before rolling her eyes as her mother yelled from downstair at one of her sibbling. Again.
(txt) It probably has something to do with the fact that we’re not supposed to acknowledge you guys… But you know, when did I ever quite followed the rules?
(txt) Well, unless you count Palmer still sending me his fics at 3am for corrections on days opf exams, nothing too serious. I guess I’m just worried by some things. :S But then who isn’t, right?
She was happy to see Vithya reply, she quite honestly had not expected this. Old habits are hard to kill after all and there was only so many chainsaws she could afford in a day.
[txt] As far as Im concerned so long as the ssp does not take you away you should be fine <3
[txt] Is he still doing that? Fanfic edits is something I definitely do not miss.
[txt] Things though? I suppose theres always things you should be worried in Night Vale n others you should not; which in particular?
Vithya wondered if it had to do with the council rulings? The angel had only so much power over things after all.
(Txt) Well yeah. I guess I’ll have to be careful then. :)
(Txt) He is! AS if I was the only intern/ex-intern who’s good enough to do it anymore. :/ Well, at least I’m off the hook for the month, or so he tells me. But it’s still annoying af. I mean, I have my own papers to take care of and they don’t really write themselves. I wish they could though. @_@
(Txt) Yeah, well remember voting for anything on the Council thing lately? Because I can’t :S Usually I would be fine with it, but some people seem to push their agenda ahead that way. :S :S
Event 2 1/2
“And I thought I was living on the edge with my pure caffeine bars.” Terra chuckled with a shake of her head. “I make them myself and the first time I had one I didn’t sleep for a week. I’ve watered down the intensity since then…”
“All in the life of an intern! Well ex-intern… But still a college student so it’s the same really. You should try to trade recipe with Palmer then. Maybe with the both combined you’ll be able to power a small nuclear reactor. I know I could use that myself sometimes.“
Terra dug through her pocket, pulling out a oatmeal bar in a small plastic bag. “Let me know if it helps stave off the gourd cravings.” She chuckled.
Maureen took the bag and nodded.
“I’ll definitely let you know. If anything I’ll probably ask you for the recipe down the line.” She replied with a smile.
Notes From Council Meeting 15⅞
First things first - Mayor Dana would like to apologize for her… fit last Tuesday. She claims that she was “just having a bad day,” and that she “didn’t mean any harm.” Her overriding democracy was simply the result of a temporary lapse in judgement caused by outside stress, and not at all a precedent for future mayoral rulings. She cites page 1,254, paragraph 3 of the Night Vale Legal Code, which states that “having a bad day” is a reasonable excuse for any and all crimes committed during said day, no matter their severity or lasting psychological consequences. “It won’t happen again,” her most recent note promises. “Nope. Never again.”
Last Wednesday, turtles began to appear on top of the city’s manhole covers, disrupting traffic and making it impossible to get City Machinery from one end of the city to the other. As turtles have recently become an endangered species, the City Council could do nothing but hope that they would eventually leave of their own volition. Because of this, Street Cleaning Day has been postponed until someone figures out a way to get those damn turtles out of here.
The Council would like to issue a warrant for members of the organization known as ‘Keep Night Vale Weird,’ or KNVW (as they like to sign their notes). It was brought to our attention that their attacks have been impeding certain civic actions, such as Street Cleaning Day and proper worship at the Church of the Smiling God. Although we cannot say which council member brought up this motion, said council member would also like to ask if there is anyone who knows how to remove moths from buildings. Any citizen who can come forward with information or names that result in successful obtainment of members of KNVW will be granted Stop Sign Immunity for a lifetime. Stay alert, citizens.

Halloween/Horror ||Starter Sentences||
"Did you hear about the werewolf/vampire/witch roaming around this town on Halloween night?"
"I heard that she murdered her whole family and stuffed them all down in the basement."
"Let's go to the haunted house! Oh, please, please, please, please?!"
"I don't get scared. I'm practically fearless."
"Is... Is that blood on the walls?!"
"We have to get out of here! Don't you see that the people who once lived here don't want us?!"
"Get that thing out of here, dammit! It's fucking creepy, and rumor has it that it's haunted!"
"Well, if you're so scared, then why don't you go home to your mommy?"
"Oh, for fuck's sake, it's just a damn cemetery! 'Ooh, there are dead people buried underground, what if one of them reaches up and pulls me down into hell?' Grow the fuck up."
"Hey, look, a creepy doll/stuffed animal."
"I've watched 'The Conjuring' before, and that doll looks exactly like Annabelle."
"It's just a stupid ritual. Nothing will happen."
"Wanna play (insert scary ritual here)?"
*He stares at her, starry-eyes and smiling* Really?? Fo-for me? *blushes* Maureen, could it be that you’re really just a big sweetie??
“Sure whatever.” she replied, handing the cookie over.
“No. I’m not a sweetie. I’m nobody’s sweetie. I… I just don’t want it anymore, it’s really creeping me out! If anything, it’s just because food is a terrible thing to waste” she huffed.
Eugene digs into the cookie, making happy food noises. “Thank you so so much!! Well, I think you’re a sweetie!” he licked his fingers of frosting and giggled.
Maureen had her arms across her chest, looking sideways and pouting.
“Not a sweetie...” she mumbled.
=n=;;;;;;;
(σ゚∀゚)σ (( snrk )) (( can't ask from a side blog but it's for Maureen because her mun is a giant dork ))
Eugene shrieks and jumps as hands make contact with his sides. “Eehehenono!!” He squirms and jerks away from the foreign hands with all his might. “Uncle!! Uncle!! I give up!”
She snorts and chuckled.
“Nobody expect the Night Vale inquisition, don’t they? Maybe their rebellion sometimes though…” she added smugly. She gave a faux thoughtful look at Eugene.
“Maybe that’s the trick to defeat you guys? Unh, who knew it would be that easy?”
“Oh, yes.” Eugene stuck his tongue out at her. “You found us out! All the people in the Bluffs are extremely ticklish….Not!” at that, he retaliated by poking her side.
Maureen screeched rather loudly at the poke and looked at Eugene with wide eyes and a frown that was actually more fake and amused than real.
“Oh no. You shouldn’t have done that. You’re asking for it! You should know that I survived the NVCR internship! I can survive anything!”
And she dived right back to tickle him.
“Well Listeners…. The City Council meeting is finished, and the laws…. have indeed come into effect. If you have any thoughts in regards to these recent events, please, don’t hesitate to contact the radio station, provided you can reach us before the everlasting Void reaches us all. But until then…. the Weather.”
Maureen was at the White Sand, eating a lobster ice cream and putting the finishing touch on an assignment, when she heard Cecil on the radio. She frowned.
She pulled out her phone and frowned some more before sending a text.
(txt): I don’t remember voting for any of this… We really gotta do this? All that Strex thing all over again? @n@ Well I guess I could get you back for the orange juice if it comes to that though :U
Cecil was quick to lunge and catch his phone as it tried to buzz off the table. Opening the message, he only had to glance over it before he was typing out a response.
[TXT: Maureen] It is law now, as aggravating as it is.
[TXT: Maureen] I SAID I WAS SORRY ABOUT THE ORANGE JUICE O:
Maureen chuckled as she read the replied.
(Txt) I’ll never forget anything Cecil, never. Even less the terrible fics I had to correct. >:D
Seriously though, if you or your scientist got a brilliant idea to deal with that, we could use it :s. I don’t really want a repeat of last year…
ask-nightvales-voice:
[TXT: Maureen] Pleeeeaaaaassseee Maureen! I won’t email you any more fics for a month!
[TXT: Maureen] But I will let you know if we come up with anything
[TXT: Maureen] Believe me, I don’t want a repeat performance either
Maureen had to laugh at the three short texts. She could read Cecil’s desperate tone of Cecil at the idea of losing his last copy editor. Her job here was done... Mwahahaha... (Txt) *Long suffering sigh* Fine, but in a month and not before that. If you send me anything fic related until next month I delete it. (Txt) Maybe some emergency signal? Although I'd feel better talking about this in private if we do anything. I feel they might tighten their surveillance compared to last time :S
[TXT: Maureen] I swear on my microphone I won’t send you even a headcanon.
[TXT: Maureen] Agreed. An emergency signal and an in person meeting would be the best.
Maureen snorted and shook her head.
(txt) Tsh, headcanons are fine, I guess. It’s not like you would be able to help yoursel anyways and at least I don’t have to act on those.
(txt) I could meet you at the station? I still have access privileges right?

Event 2 1/2
“Why would anyone flavour a coffee with a gourd? Is it a gourd? I think it’s a type of gourd…” Terra frowned, shrugging her shoulders as she walked away from town hall. “I should research gourds tonight…”
“Are other gourds banned too^ Because that would suck.“ Maureen mentioned as she was reading the notice. She was frowning, as it was usuallly usual with her. She also gave a very pointed look at Terra.
“Because it’s an experience.
It’s not so much the gourd itself than what surrounds it, mind you. Quite literally. But you know it’s like such a warm taste and well…. It just also makes the time spending writing papers that much easier.“
“I’ve never viewed coffee as an experience, personally. And I prefer caffeine bars myself.” She mumbled, turning back towards her. “Perhaps you could try tea? The aroma of certain teas are quite extraordinary.”
"I tried tea and as much as I like the variety of flavors, the caffeine boost is not the same. Same with bars and such. I kinda miss being an intern for that; Cecil had a killer coffee recipe. Like, it seriously injured an intern, I think it was intern Maria or something? Also, actually killed another one. You wouldn't sleep through a class with that though once you know how to wrangle it out of the coffee pot. The particular seasonal flavoring is just the icing on the cake, like same as all those tea flavors. And it's not the same thing thing without it!"
“Uncle!! Uncle!! I give up!”
Maureen is trying very hard to keep her >:( face although it slowly turns into this >:D as she keeps tickling for a few moments more.
He pulls away and hugs his stomach, letting out a few residual giggles even though she stopped tickling. He stays curled up for a little bit longer before sitting back up.
“I didn’t expect that!” he pouts.
She snorts and chuckled.
“Nobody expect the Night Vale inquisition, don’t they? Maybe their rebellion sometimes though…” she added smugly. She gave a faux thoughtful look at Eugene.

Event 2 1/2
There is no city newsletter for this week. The Town Hall does not open, and none of the usual screeching can be heard from inside.
Instead, Tuesday evening, there is a note - written in crayon on a crumpled piece of college ruled paper - that reads:
Of course, due to the lack of municipal leadership, Street Cleaning day will once again have to be postponed until this Thursday. The council apologizes for any inconvenience. They don’t know what’s wrong with Dana either.
I will fight you Dana, I will. As an fellow ex-intern and ex-student you know how this is much needed at this time of the year. D:< >:C
And this particular version is like the best thing of the season before the sparkle shit, mint flavored horrors of the holidays.
As if the creepy smiling cookies wasn’t enough. >:C >:C >:C
Maureen was at home, for one of those rare time, trying to finish yet another college assignment (when do they ever stopped anyways). But instead of concentrating on the task at hand, she was fidgeting. Recent events had her on her toes and well lack of sleep wasn't helping either.
