Single...

I cannot believe Alceste broke-up with me! I do admit, I  have wronged Alceste; but I didn’t want to move away, and forget the entirety of existence of the human race! Oh well, I am only twenty-one, and there are other suitors out there waiting for me.

You should not be surprised Celimene. You were an example of almost everything Alceste hated.  "The traits [Alceste] most abhor[ed] [were] bearable in this lady [he] adore[d]" (that's you!). He was, "so blind with love that [he] can't find them? Or did [he] contrive, in [your] case, not to mind them?" (Act 1 Scene 1).  You really should have seen this coming, no love can last between two with morals as different as yours and Alceste's.  If there is one lesson that all us aristocrats should have learned, it is that love can make anyone blind and forget their beliefs/position. Now look at Alceste, he is off along, and wants to stay that way.

Out of everyone in my life, Eliante is the only one that is not certifiably crazy.  Celimene is going back and forth between men, gossiping, professing her love.  Celimene's suitors can never be trusted, though most showed a sign of sanity when they decided to stop purusing Celimene after her letter becomes public.  Alceste want's to now go live by himself and be a hermit for the rest of his life after fluctuating between Celimene and my Eliante. But in the end she is my Eliante, "my heat's most cherished goals, for which I'd gladly give my life and soul" (Act 5, Scene 8). Finally Alceste is still a dear friend in need of my help. "Come [Eliante], let's do everything we can to change the mind of this unhappy man" (Act 5, Scene 8).

Celimene.. how could you do this to me.. We need to talk.

I’ll not forgive her; it’s gone too far for that; my mind’s made up; I’ll kill myself before I waste my hopes upon her any more. Ah, here she is. My wrath intensifies. I shall confront her with her tricks and lies, and crush her utterly, and bring you then a heart no longer slave to Celimene. (Act 4, Scene 2)

Cheer up Alceste. "Sill, in a letter, appearances may deceive; This may not be so bad as you believe" (Act 4, Scene 2). I just professed my love for Eliante and finished telling her, "if those to should marry, and so remove all chance that he will off you his love, then I’ll declare my own, and hope to see your gracious favor pass from him to me…I’d be happy to be second best" (Act 4, Scene 1). This was hard for me to say. You are now trying to make her feel bad for you so she will pursue you.  No doubt I wish you and your love life well.  But if you left Eliante for me, that sure would be swell.

I’m betting my money that Celimene will love me, for I have just made a risky bargain with blunt ole Alceste.  May the best man win (me) the heart of Miss Celimene.  This might be a start to a beautiful relationship or an end to a non- existing one.  May the odds be ever in my favor (hmmm that has a nice ring to it don’t you think?)  (via clitceli4everlove)

I am very confused.  You state that the other suitors of Celimene must, “abandon hope," if she admits her love for someone else.  Celimene told Alceste, "you know you have my love.”  That seems to me that she is confessing her love for Alceste. According to your so called treaty, you now must “abandon hope.” I am just trying to defend Alceste and do what think is right for Celimene. Plus if Alceste ends up with Celimene, my beautiful Eliante will be all mine.

Oh how naive of you Philinte.  Although I respect your great attitude and do hope that you and Eliante work out, for I can see you two as a nice couple.  You say that I need to “abandon hope”, but rumors blow around this town like the snow in the winter.  How am I to believe someone who is so close with thy enemy.  I am first going to make Acaste realize that he must “abandon hope”, and then I will deal with Alceste.

No man with pride and dignity would continue chasing after a girl after she said he, "is the last man on earth for whom I could feel any affection" (Act 5 Scene 4). Come on Clitandre, let's put our differences aside.  I know you will come to your senses and give up on Celimene.  After that, hopefully we can be friends.

How do you maintain to have such a happy mojo all the time? Also, I'm quite impressed that you haven't fallen for Celimene. Although on the bright side that creates one less man who is competing for her attention, so you man are lucky. Since we aren't enemies, maybe we can be friends? You seem to be close to Alceste, and maybe together we can stop his bitterness and attempts at trying to steal my lady.

A positive attitude results in a positive outcome.  I think everyone deserves what they want.  I can see us becoming friends, though it may take me awhile to get past your "long nails...embroidered hose...ribbons...and bows."  My dearest friend is Alceste and I know you both quarrel often. I would prefer he gets what he wants, Celimene, though I know you suit her too.  I'll give our friendship a try, and so should you.

This is a great article on when lying is good. I am 100% on its side.  We can help people avoid pain and suffering by just telling them a little lie.  Social situations can also be less awkward with lies, not huge or major ones that could lead to trouble.  Just small lies to ease through daily life.

My boy Alceste has not been getting along with Celimene lately.  I fear that he may be lost without anyone.  Though my love for you is deep, Alceste is a great guy. You would be lucky to have him, as he would be lucky to have you. Just a possibility.

I believe that we all should embody this idea of respect.  It is simply the right thing to do, if someone is polite to you, you return it.  Remember you never know what that person has gone through.  Let's all just make the world a nicer place.
