Pedra was a little shocked to see someone else in the hallway. She would have sworn that she had been alone. At first she wanted to shake her head and tell the stranger to leave. She could figure it out on her own if she really needed to, but she didn’t want to. It was her pride that wanted to tell the man to go away.
“Si… No… Kind of…. Encantos es muy dificil….” Pedra’s frustration was getting the better of her. She wasn’t remembering many of the English words that she needed. She didn’t believe that the stranger would really understand what she was saying, but she was hoping he did.
The language barrier that she had put on herself by going to an English speaking school was starting to get to her. She was a native Spanish speaker. She could have went to a Spanish or a Mexican school, but she chose an English one. A school that she was trying her hardest to learn from, but it didn’t seem to work as well as she had hoped.
Jaq’s brow furrowed ever so slightly as he read the frustration that was painted so obviously on the student’s face. He remembered being in her position at some point or another in his academic life. He too would isolate himself from everyone else and try to forward himself with his work, refusing help form anyone who came his way because he was the type of person who felt most accomplished when coming to a conclusion himself.
Luckily for him, Jaq had taken some Spanish before and during some of his early time at Hogwarts for fear of not being cultured enough. Though he was practically awful at speaking it, he understood it fairly well. “Charms?” He began, as if looking for confirmation. “Huh, Charms was one of my better classes when I was a student here. Would you like some help?” He asked, gesturing to the empty spot against the wall beside the student.
After a moment, Jaq sat himself down, back to the wall before shifting the upper half of his body towards the girl with a friendly smile. “I’m Jaq.” He pronounced with a hearty smile, outstretching his hand towards her. “Uh, Soy Jaq?” He reiterated in Spanish to try and be a bit more relatable. “What’s your name?”
