I have a question for you guys? If you donât know me (which you probably donât) I write reviews of dramaâs (when I have time đ„Č) but I was wondering if you would rather see reviews of every episode OR after the whole thing?
Bad Buddy (Thailand)
BL (Boys' Love)
This is going to be a long one so just be prepared. This is one of the best shows I've seen in the BL genre and I've seen almost all of them, especially from Thailand. Like I fell in love with these two so much that I watched edits all week until Friday when the next episode came out. I really don't know what I'm gonna do without them since the show is over now, but here we are. Also, I'm going to add some screenshots I took from some of the scenes I mentioned here, and then at the end, I will put some screenshots of some of my favorite moments. I hope you enjoy this review enough to go watch it yourself. I will try my best not to put spoilers, but that will be really hard so I will just mark where a spoiler will be and you can choose whether you want to continue on or not. I commend anyone who fully reads this LOL
This was amazing, there was nothing toxic about their relationship like some BL's tend to be, they were wholesome and every episode had fluff to the max. The thing I loved most about this show is that they explore sexuality differently than other BLâs in that when Pat is talking to Pran, Pa, and Ink, he says that maybe he had always liked men, but he just realized it now. They have him think about it in a way that isnât âI donât like boys, I just like youâ and that is one of the big reasons I love this. It isn't the norm in these shows and having a character like Pat, who had a crush on a girl since high school, say that is really powerful. I do think he had a crush on her, but the way he felt for Pran was different than his crush on Ink. What I mean is, I think he just had strong feelings for her whereas with Pran he was able to be himself, he was able to smile, joke around and be truly him.
Every emotional scene with them was very good as well, they were able to portray their emotions as the characters so good, it was like you werenât even watching a show. Another big thing I loved was the hospital scene where Pran tells Pat that he doesnât like being called Wifey, he asks Pat if it makes him feel superior and at first, pat was kind of caught off guard, but then he responded by saying that he can call him Wifey instead. Pran did and Pat made a face and kind of cringed, Pran asked how it made him feel and Pat said he understood now. This was so good I really appreciated this scene because it basically combats the toxicity of that word in BLâs.
I loved Pa, Patâs sister, she was so supportive of her brother and Pranâs relationship and even helped them keep their relationship a secret from their parents. She and Patâs chats were amazing and always so deep especially when it came to relationships and stuff. He was even able to open up about Pran with her as well when they first started dating which also was something I loved about her. She didn't care, even though her family was fighting with Pran's, she knew it wasn't their fight and there was no reason to hate the neighbors like their parents do. And the fact that Pa was even so fast to open up about being in love with Ink, Patâs past crush, shows how close they are. She even asked Pat if he was okay if they were together and he said that if they had dated then he would probably be a little upset, but they never went out so he was fine he also added that if he could fall for the neighbor's kid, she could fall for anyone. They respect each other and it shows, her wanting his blessing before making a move on Ink is a lot and Pat having her there to help with Pran and his relationship was everything. They really have each other back as they should, their sibling dynamic is everything. (If you have siblings, you know that not every sibling relationship is like this.)
After writing that, I now realize, Pran never had that, he never had that support system that Pat did. Which I think is part of the reason that he had buried all of his emotions, he had no one to confide in about anything. He had Wai, his best friend, but he hated Pat, so he couldnât exactly feel comfortable talking about him with Wai. It kind of makes me realize too that with Pran not having that, it makes he and Patâs relationship more meaningful and deep because he finally had someone he could lean on when he needed to, someone who could love all of him. His mom basically controlled his life, he had to keep his mouth shut (like not talk back and stuff) and stay focused, which is also a big reason as to why he was the way he was. He had to have his chopsticks the same length, always eats three wontons, keeps his pens straight and in color order, and he never talked back or really even fought. These were things he had control over, things his mom couldn't dominate in his life. When he finally stood up to his mom, she was shocked. Though she had her reasons for her unwillingness to allow Pran and Pat to be together, it had nothing to do with them, it wasn't their fight. She was holding on to something that happened between her and Pat's father, granted what he did was wrong, but this past fight was not about the kids or the business and should not have descended on to them and their lives. Pat's father was a total jerk with what he did to Dessaya (Pran's mom), but I think that keeping it a secret from the kids was unfair to them. **SPOILER** He stole her scholarship and all he did was take over his family business, he didnât even use the scholarship. It was going to be her whole life and he just took it away from her. **END OF SPOILER**Their fight is understandable, but keeping Pat and Pran apart because of something between them wasnât fair especially with how much they ended up loving each other.
In Episode 11, it was literally all fluff, they were being very lovey with each other and had a little fight, but made up quite quickly. They realized they had to go back home eventually and came up with a plan that would be good for everyone. Though they did not discuss this plan, we didn't even know there was a plan, all we knew was that they were about to do something big, "Good luck buddy" is what Pran said. Makes me tear up a bit just thinking about it.
Episode 12âs preview had us scared for the next week, but in reality, what happened was exactly what I thought would happen. **SPOILER**They came up with a plan to stay together, but in secret, they had Pa, Ink, Wai, and Korn help them out so they could stay together without anyone knowing even at school. They stayed together for four years and in the last scene at their parent's houses, Pat falls on the roof and his father flinches and tries to get up and get him. His mom holds him back and tells him to let it be to let him be in his generation or something, to be honest, I didn't really understand that line, but it could be a mistranslation. Then when they were singing and laughing in Pranâs house, Pranâs mom hears them, and she gives his dad a look, but then she eventually smiled. They basically are pretending they donât know that theyâre together, but they know. I think this was good because it showed that their parents have grown up a little and have realized that their fight has nothing to do with their kids and if theyâre happy together they will let them be (This is only my opinion/assumption, don't come at me). **End of Spoiler**
Now, the acting. Chefâs kiss. Ohmâs acting, magnificent as ever. Literally, in every scene he was in, whether he was happy, crying or mad you could feel it, and see it in his eyes and everything he did (body language). His emotional scenes hit hard because his character was very in the moment and he let himself feel the things he was feeling and it showed in his acting. Nanon, everything about him and his acting was fabulous. He was able to show how different Pran was from Pat with how he held back his emotions and kept them buried until it was too much and he would burst. One scene that comes to mind the most is their first kiss on the roof, where Pran walks away crying while Pat smiled afterward.
This showed how different they are, Pat living in the moment, feeling so good about the kiss, how it finally happened, and like a weight was lifted from his chest. While Pran, though he was happy about the kiss he longed for, he was also distraught. In that instant, he was thinking about his family and friends and what they would think if things got serious between them. He didnât want to lose anyone but loved Pat so much that he just let go for a second and let it happen. He walked away because he knew things would get worse if their relationship changed, but he still couldnât deny his longtime feelings for Pat. The moment they stared at each other after the kiss, Pran was in full tears, Pat was smiling, it was the perfect representation of who they are as people.
Anyway, I could literally say so much more about this show, but I don't want to drag this on any longer so I'm going to stop. There are so many scenes, lines, actions, growth, and characters that I love and could go on and on about, but there's just not enough time in the day (or night which is when I wrote this initially) to express how much love and appreciation I have for, not only the show but cast/crew as well!
Ohm and Nanon, their chemistry is unreal, they were so comfortable with each other that all the intimate scenes between them felt natural and I think this is what made it so much better. Shout out to GMMTV for doing it right with this one. I could literally go on and on about what I loved in this show, but it would turn into a book and no one wants to read that. These two are my comfort couple, they make me happy just thinking about how in love they are even after four years. Even Ink and Pa in the end were a long-term couple and I love the GL (Girls' Love) rep in here. The show itself, special shoutout to PâAof the director, he did such an amazing job with this, and literally, the show is golden, if this doesnât get any awards, Iâm rioting. I havenât been this in love with a show ever and I hope for very good things for the show and actors!
I even ordered Pat's Nong Nao doll and the PP earbuds bag (brb while I scream at 8:30 in the morning)
I will give this show a 10/10, if I could give it more I would. I definitely recommend this show if you are a first-time BL watcher, wanna try BL out, or are a veteran BL stan. My friend @chezzit and I are going to have a rewatch marathon tonight and I'm super hype for it!
The Gifted: Graduation (Thailand, 2020)
This series was a continuation of the first season, The Gifted which aired in 2018. It takes place two years after that and the fifteenth gifted class are seniors who tried to keep the school safe from the anti-gifted; a group of people who opposed the gifted program. This season also kept to the original plot of the first season as well, though it seemed to be different, it had many twists and turns that proved otherwise. The senior gifted class helps the new gifted class hone their potentials and a small number of them helped the main cast with their goal. In true 2020 fashion, there was a man-made virus that went around the new gifted and old gifted classes, but do they figure out how to cure it and stop it from spreading? You'll have to watch it for yourself.
*Side note: The gifted class had been stopped for a year, so the story started with the new class standing up and trying to get the program back.
Things I liked/loved:
The acting was amazing, as always from this group and we also got to see more of the ones that kind of got left out in the first season which was cool. I really liked seeing the whole story with Korn because it really showed how much he struggled with the fact that he was now gifted and wanted to end his whole involvement with the program. He hated what he had become which made it really easy to manipulate him, but this made for a really good plot.
I also liked seeing more of the twins and their use of their own potentials which was basically a twin phone. They could literally communicate with each other using their potential, and whatever the one felt, the other had the same reaction like it happened to them as well. It's actually pretty interesting, but not very useful in terms of fighting unless they would use each other as like a twin walkie-talkie. Still love them and their potential though!
There was also the progression the other students had as well with their own potentials like Ohm. He was now able to hide bigger things, people and move them as well and use this to his and his friends' advantage. Grace was now not only able to see people's emotions, but she could read the details of the colors and see what is making that person feel that way. They all had their own progressions, hardships, laughs, and cries, it was amazing seeing how much they all grew in the two years since the first season.
The lighting of the show was pretty much all darkened like the first season, except in the very last scene which I think was a very good move. This showed that the darkness they were fighting was gone and something new and greater was coming. You could feel the warmth the light let in with this scene, between what Pang was saying and the ambiance of the whole thing. I know I felt relief and that the fight was finally over, and it was all going to be better.
Some things about the show:
Everything about this is enjoyed, however, there were a couple things that still make me question though. One was, how did Korn and the group make up because it seemed like they all went back to liking each other as soon as the Korn storyline had ended. It was like they all forgot about it, but maybe they talked offscreen and we are to assume they had a pow-wow with each other and made up. Another thing I didnât get was that Punn went from being super evil to super good again. I know that his potential was basically eating away at his mental state and whatnot, but he also caused a big rift in the group dynamic so it was weird that they were all on good terms again. And the whole thing with Pang, I think that this was more of a friend thing though. It was like after everything with Korn was solved, they all still werenât trusting of Pang, but then a little later they are helping him again. I guess it was because everyone trusted him since he lead them pretty well up until just then, but I donât know. I think these few things could have been touched on a little just so we had a clearer idea of how they got their group talking again. To me, it seemed unfinished with that because we really don't know how they became the well-oiled group again that they were in the beginning.
Some more good stuff (Contains Spoilers!!!! Read at your own risk):
A couple things that made me cry were when Korn gave up his potential, he was so happy to be released from it, and as soon as it was gone, he fell asleep. Everyone seemed so happy for him too, it made me tear up a little because you could feel that relief in the room. The next scene that made me tear up was when Pang confronted Punn during the announcement the ministry was going to make. Pang tackling Punn and saying what he said broke my heart to pieces because he knew that no matter what, they would always be friends. It was a really emotional scene. The last was when Grace gave up her potential as well, this wasnât as emotional, but it made the list because she didnât want her life controlled anymore. It was an emotional scene for her since she felt that she had no command over who she was or what she wanted anymore. Though her potential was useful in winning the battle with the director, in the end, her potential was threatening to become no different by using the threat of the virus and the antidote to control what other people should do concerning the gifted program.
One thing I enjoyed the most in this was the major plot twist that I commend GMMTV for doing! I might watch this series again if Iâm bored, but since it is a mystery drama, watching it again kind of takes the fun out of figuring out the puzzle the first time. You already know whatâs going to happen so whatâs the fun in that, at least in the mystery series.
I will be giving this series an 8/10 because it did leave me with some questions that I would have liked to have answers for, but overall it was an amazing series and I recommend thriller/mystery fans to watch this!
The Gifted (Thailand)
The series was about a group of kids who got into the gifted program, but it was different than what they thought it would be. They found secrets, lies, inequality, and fought for the change they knew needed to happen. Many mysteries were uncovered while other obstacles still remained.
This was so good, I wasnât expecting a lot because it was from 2018 and production has changed so much in four years, but it was amazing. The acting too, there were many awesome actors in this series including, Chimon, Nanon, Gun, JJ & AJ, Fiat and many more. All of them are brilliant actors and seeing them in such a serious role was awesome. The whole vibe of the show was dark, the lighting and everything were tinted so it was darker and showed the type of ambiance the director was hoping for, for this series. I also liked that the story had sub-stories, but also kept to the main story by having moments of trying to find the secret of the school. It was all very well done in my opinion and well worth the watch. It's only 13 episodes, but the amount of information and everything that they fit is unbelievable.
It was so intense at every step, I wanted to keep watching even though I was really tired and couldn't stay up any longer. The ending was very open-ended, which I assumed was because they had another season called The Gifted: Graduation. At first, the plot seemed to be about Wave, the tech wizard as some of the students called him, turning evil because he wanted to be the best. However, the main plot, though present through the whole thing, was about them figuring out what actually happened with Mr. Pom and Chanon. Wave and Pang worked together in the last few episodes in order to get the truth out and get the director fired, but they didnât know what his potential was and it backfired. The director had Pangâs memories erased, but before this whole plan took place, Pang had made a video for himself in case something like that would happen. This made him remember everything that happened and all the rest of the students were waiting in the gifted room for him.
There were many twists and mysteries involved in this show and I loved it, I like how they had a second main plot amongst the first main, it made the story much more interesting to watch. I loved the episodes that showed the kids using their potentials and showing what they did and the effect on them. These episodes also had given insight into what each character was like and who would be on Pang and Waveâs side in the end. Though, some of them didnât get much screen time as others like Joe and Jack, the twins, and Mon and Korn. I think it would have been cool to include them, though the twin's potential didnât really seem useful to the whole plan, same with Korn and Mon.
Notes/Things I didn't like:
The only thing I can say I didn't like was that Mon, Korn, and the twins weren't really included in the main story, they were just kind of there in the background (mostly the twins). But it seems like they will all be part of the next season because all of them were present in the room at the end so we will see.
There really wasnât much I can say that I didnât like because, as always, GMMTV did amazing. I just hope that Nack and Pang can be friends since they didnât remember anything, but I doubt it since Nack wasnât really an essential character. Overall, this show was spectacular and I would definitely watch it again.
I will give this show a 10/10 for quality of production, acting, and storyline(s).
Attention Content Creators
Thereâs a new Situation and because of this Situation I canât even tag anyone to spread the word. I was recently informed that as of about 18 hrs ago at this point (Jan 1st, 1pm EST) NO NEW POSTS are showing up in ANY tag search on ANY browser/app. Iâve checked this to confirm.
Myself and many others have noticed that posts have been taking a very long time to show up in tags these past fews days (my last post took about 5 hrs). Yesterday around 2pm EST staff reported they were aware of the issue and were working on a fix. This new development appears to have started around 7pm EST, which leads me to believe itâs a result of the âfixâ thatâs currently in progress. Unfortunately this has made the already bad situation impossibly worse in the meantime.
I have no idea how long this will be an issue but you may want to hold off on posting any new content until itâs sorted out.
7 Project Episode 3
Proud/Jaidee/Tac: This story started out with Proud finding out that her boyfriend Tac had cheated on her via a picture sent from someone they didn't know. She had a really hard time with the breakup which was understandable because she was so in love with him. We then get to see how Proud met Ozone and Pimdao in class and formed a group with Jaidee who had just changed majors. Jaidee starts to fall for Proud and then Proud fell for Jaidee, they started to hang out more and more which made Tac mad. Though we didnât find out exactly why he got mad until the end and seeing Proud cry like that again was heartbreaking. Her world was shattered TWICE by the people she loved. The way Proud found out too was horrible, but I loved how they did it because it made it that much more emotional. In the end, she had a heartwarming talk with her mom who told her that she should forgive Tac because if she didnât she will never be able to move on with her life. She talked about her dad and how she had blamed him so much he couldn't take it anymore and killed himself. Her mom told her that she felt horrible after that, she had trouble going through life because she was sad all the time, but then she just told herself that she wouldn't be able to move on if she was like that and decided it was best for her to forgive and go forward. Proud asked how she forgets, but she told her that you never forget, but you can't let yourself keep thinking about it. She said that when she gets older she will realize that love is just a single part of life, not the whole thing.
Things I liked:
Her mom was so supportive and I loved that, the way she talked to her, especially in the end, was soft and sweet because she knew she was in pain. It was comforting. The way Proud kind of bottled her emotions, I felt that because it can be hard to talk about something that was so traumatic for you and bring up all the emotional scars it left. Sammyâs acting in this was superb, I loved her in everything she had done previously and this was no exception. Every scene of hers made you feel what she was feeling, for example, her crying scenes made you feel the heartache she felt. The way her hair was messy when she was in a depressed state, the way she held herself while she cried, everything was magnificently done. I also loved the lighting in the episode too, it was kind of dark the whole time, but in the end, when she was talking to her mom, her room was lit up with the sun and everything seemed bright. It made me feel a weight lifted off my shoulders and I wasnât even part of the story. The difference between episodes 2 and 3 is remarkable, itâs hard to believe itâs from the same show. I liked how in the end she didnât really get a couple because she didnât want to be with Tac, and Jaidee caused her more pain after finding out she was the one who ruined her relationship. So even after she and Jaidee had kissed, they didnât get together because Proud was still hurt about the whole thing. However, she did get a phone call from her and it looked like she was about to answer it so it made me think that she was going to forgive her like Tac, but I'm not sure whether or not she will choose to be with her or not. I think the fact that she didn't end up with anyone really helped with the story because having her not be with either of them showed that you donât always get the ending you think.
Things I didn't like/notes:
I think the one thing I had a problem with was how Tac went about trying to talk to Proud. He was trying to get her alone, which I get because he didnât want to say that Jaidee was the one who broke them up, but he was like grabbing her and following her and it just didnât feel good to me. I know that Proud didnât want to listen, but I think he could have gone about it differently than cause her physical harm.
Other than that little thing, I really enjoyed that episode!
I think I will give this episode a 9/10 because it was amazing, but Tac bothered me lol
so since itâs 2022âŠâŠ I would really like to see them. (Moonlight Chicken (2022), The Eclipse (2022), Never Let Me Go (2022), Vice Versa (2022), Cupidâs Last Wish (2022), My School President (2022), Star & Sky (2022))Â
7 Project Episode 2
Episode 2 was about Pimdao and Rhythm. Rhythm owns a vinyl record shop that rents out records and is a small cafe. He meets Pimdao one night when she came to rent out her dad's record to listen to it.
This was an okay episode, I wasnât super into it, but it was alright. This one was about Rhythm, played by Yacht, and he owned a record shop with Note. Initially, I thought it was going to be a GL story because Pimdao asked her dad if she were into girls would he care, and her friend Wawa kissed her hand, but it was not.
Pimdao had gone to the record shop to rent out her dadâs bandâs record and Rhythm fell in love as soon as he saw her in the shop. His watch beeped when his heart started to beat really fast, and he explained that it was because of his Social Anxiety Disorder. He said when he gets excited or sees something he likes his heart beats really fast and his watch alerts him to it. Now, this I have experience with and I donât know what that has to do with SAD because as far as I know, it has like nothing to do with it. That was my biggest beef with this episode because they didnât really portray SAD as it should have been. It seemed they only added it so when he got excited with Pimdao his watch beeped and would add to the story, but unfortunately, it didn't do what it was supposed to (at least for me).
Social Anxiety Disorder for those who donât know, is an anxiety disorder that makes you feel like youâre being looked at, judged, laughed at, very uncomfortable in any social interaction and so much more. If you'd like to read more about it, follow the link and you can read up on what SAD actually is (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/social-anxiety-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20353561 ). It is not just your heart racing when you see something you like or get excited about, and I donât know why they showed it like that.
I donât know, there wasnât much to this episode for me. I liked how they explored GL through Wawa when telling Pimdao that she liked her. However, I didnât like how they had Wawa basically being toxic about it when Pimdao said she didnât feel the same way. She got angry toward her, but also was trying to kind of make her fall for her in a way? Like she would try to make moves on her and ask where she was, what she was doing, why she didn't answer her calls, stuff like that. She did get better at the end though after they talked, which I liked, but it still wasn't right or fair of her to act like that toward Pimdao when she didn't reciprocate her feelings.
In my opinion, the story was kind of flat, like it had no substance for me, but maybe someone else would like it. Though I do want to mention that Ozone was in this story as a university student rather than a high school student and was friends with Pimdao. I didnât see Sun or even hear a mention of him so it makes me wonder if they actually didnât get together after their story :(
I will give this about a 6/10 because I personally found it a bit boring, but if you like it, that's totally fine, and enjoy watching it!
Project 7 Episode 1
This series is a set of seven episodes that follow seven different couples. Episode 1 is about Ozone and Sun played by Santa and Earth (CooHeart).
Ozone/Sun: Okay, this couple was cute! Earth is and always will be adorable, but he and Santa have such great chemistry that watching them felt real. I would love to see them work together on a full-length show as the main couple because their acting as a pair is magnificent.
Their story in the first episode started with both Sun and Ozone transferring to a boarding school and the teacher giving Ozone a tour of the school. The teacher told Sun and Ozone to stick together, but in the beginning, Sun was kind of indifferent to Ozone. It goes on with these two boys bullying Ozone and Sun (mostly Ozone), and Sun would protect him. This brings them closer as Sun is always helping Ozone out of trouble or consoling him when he needs it.
They had really sweet moments together, one that I loved was when they were on the roof after Ozone had been bullied in the bath, the two boys threw water on him and held him down, then Sun gave him a towel and took him to the roof. Sun had asked him why he was named Ozone and he responded that it was because he was invisible, but Sun said that he wasn't invisible to him. It was honestly a really sweet and emotional moment for them because both of them opened up a little before lying on the roof and falling asleep together. My second favorite was when Sun went to Ozone drunk after their graduation party and kissed him in the bath area. Sun was drunk, but you could tell he wanted to do it, and Ozone didn't back away either. It was their first and only kiss, but it was such a big moment for both of them because before this had happened, Ozone was bullied on the soccer field and Sun just walked away and didn't help like he had before. Though this was understandable considering the reason he was sent there was because of a similar situation at his old school that got him sent away. He had intervened and it ended in a fight that he got blamed for, the soccer field, I believe he felt that would be no different and that was why he walked away. He didn't want to be caught up in something and blamed for it again if he would try to help Ozone, but this hurt him because he thought they were closer than that, he even said "I thought we were friends." It really broke my heart when he said that because he felt betrayed, but I'm sure Sun felt horrible leaving him behind like that too since he had become so close with him too.
Now for some things I didn't like or think could use tweaking:
I wish that there was more character development, especially with the bullies. There really wasn't anything specific they were bullying him for, I mean they had teased him and Sun about being boyfriends and said "You won't take a bath with everyone because you're gay right?" but there was no reason behind it. At one point the one's friend asked why they were bullying them and he said that he just hated them, he didn't give a good reason, just that he didn't like them. To be honest, I didn't even know their names, I know they were support characters, but I would have liked to see a story for them. It would have also been nice to see more into Sun and Ozoneâs family life and what got them sent there. It did show that Sun got sent there because of a fight that he didnât start and was blamed for, and they showed Ozone talking to his brother when he said he was sent there because he was not doing great at school. He was skipping classes and not getting good grades, but I think he felt he was being compared to his siblings who did well at school. Though I would have liked to see more of the family dynamic to see why it was necessary to send them away. I know the episode was only an hour long so they can't fit everything into them, so they did the best they could under the circumstances. I liked the story, I just wish that there was more to it. It feels almost unfinished, even though at the end, Ozone gives Sun a post-it that asks to be his boyfriend, but they donât show if he did or not. I hope they got together though.
Some notes:
The acting was amazing though, Earth literally does so well with serious parts and I just have to applaud him. Santa did amazing as well, they both showed so much emotion on their faces and the body language was top tier. I think if he had talked to Ozone about why he walked away on the soccer field, it would have been better for them, but I think Ozone was too hurt to listen and Sun was not brave enough to stand up for his friend when he needed it.
In all, the episode was good and I'd give it like an 8/10, losing some points due to the things stated in the tweaks section.
