Hunk was quiet for a moment as he thought long and hard about what Keith had just asked him. He wondered if there was a speech he could hold that would get Keith to understand for real. How much he had helped him, how he had believed in him, how he had been there by his side when he had struggled the most, how he had not belittled his worst fears as he spoke about them. Keith had been strong when things had been the darkest. Hunk just… “I just like you.”
He hugged the controls a little tighter and slowed down slightly as they cruised Across the Atlantic ocean from high up above. There was a small dull sound as they entered the atmosphere of the planet. “Like a lot. Like asking out on a date a lot. Like I want to know you better faults and strength besides a lot.”
Yellow slowed down further as they hovered further down towards the Earth. Europe starting to come into view over the massive sea. “Why did you say yes? If your personality is flat and I am a walking fart joke according to some people? Why did you agree?”
Hearing the question, along with Hunk’s statement about himself, made him purse his lips together into a straight line. He completely disagreed with Hunk’s apparent perspective, or apparently, the perspective that other people had. In fact, if he heard anyone saying that about Hunk around him, his blade would probably be in someone’s throat. Still, telling the other that would only freak Hunk out, especially considering they had just talked about how he was still good with a knife, even drunk. Keith could be a great assassin, if needed to be.
“That should be obvious, Hunk.” He smiled gently. “I wasn’t lying when I told you that you were the bravest, and the one I had seen the most growth in. I’ve seen you mature immensely, and that’s admirable.” He shrugged, playing with the pony tail over his shoulder. “You’re also the kindest person I’ve ever met. Even when things got stressful, you were always about us sticking together, and trying to create the least amount of damage. You love people in a way I’ve never seen, and I like that. I also like your sense of humor.”
His eyes widened a bit in excitement as they got closer to Earth, seeing the long blue expanse of the ocean getting closer and closer. He hummed, leaning forward a bit, before shooting a smile over his shoulder at Hunk. “Besides all that, you’re pretty cute.” He might not be good at flirting like Lance was, but he was a blunt person, and he wasn’t going to hold that back. “Let me tell you how difficult it is to identify as a gay man and be stuck in space with mostly men. I’d be lying if I said thoughts hadn’t crossed my mind every once in awhile.”
