Sally Field Reads The Hollywood Reporter
Oscar-winning actress Sally Field and former husband Steven Craig were captured interested in The Hollywood Reporter at the 1967 Blurb Awards. Field did not constantly read THR at the time, however.
“I knew enough to stay away from everything that could potentially make me crazy,” Field told THR. “It was instinctual. In the show-business family I grew up in, everybody was always looking for their next job. You didn’t spend a lot of time looking at the trades and seeing other people having jobs and you didn’t.”
During the ‘60s, THR reviewed her starring role in Gidget, The Flying Nun and announced her film debut in The Way West. Although Field did not read THR often, she now receives the weekly publication at her doorstep.
“The new Hollywood Reporter comes to my house. It does look good; it’s beautifully done, and I sometimes find myself sucked in. My sons read it. They go over every page.”
