some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
Summary: Jiyan accompanies Rover on his trip to Rinascita to meet his new friends including Brant.
Jiyan wakes up in the middle of the night noticing that Brant’s bed in the ship’s headquarters is empty and unmade. Rover is sound asleep in the bed beside Jiyan’s and the teal haired man decides to go on a mission to find the captain.
After becoming close with Rover, it lead him to opportunities in meeting different kinds of people such as Calcharo, Xiangli Yao, and Aalto. Rover invited Jiyan to accompany him to Rinascita to meet his new friends which included Brant, Roccia, and Carlotta.
Jiyan tries to keep his balance on the ship as they venture out in the rough waves of ocean before them. He spots Brant’s vibrant blue locks blowing on the wind. The blunette was sitting on the edge of the boat without a care in the world.
“So is this what captains like to do at three in the morning?” Jiyan comments crossing his arms arsonist his chest and Brant is startled by his presence clutching his chest.
“You scared me. You could’ve at least given me a warning.” He sighs in relief that it wasn’t an enemy.
“Sorry, you weren’t in the room so I thought I’d come out and look for you. It’s late, you should get to bed.”
“I don’t feel like sleeping.” Brant shakes his head and Jiyan realizes this wasn’t the same charming playful blunette he had met earlier in the day.
“Something on your mind?” Jiyan sits beside the other. “I know we just met but you can tell me anything. I may have some advice for you being the Midnight Ranger’s general.”
“It’s nothing you can help with.” The blunette gives him a reassuring smile. “I just had a nightmare, that’s all.”
“I see.” Jiyan awkwardly rubs his arm. “Well everyone gets nightmares, I get nightmares myself from past wars and battles I’ve been involved in.”
“Yeah.” Brant sighs resting his chin on his fists. “It’s hard to go back to sleep once you get them. It doesn’t stop.”
“Rover gets them sometimes too whenever we travel together. Theres this one method that cheers him up so I wonder if it’ll work on you.” Jiyan hums tapping his chin glancing at Brant’s open chest window.
“Don’t feel obligated that you have to make me feel better. I’m used to just dealing with this alone, I don’t want to be a burden to anyone besides you’re my guest.” Brant says to the teal haired man but Jiyan is already crawling on top of the pirate straddling him.
“Say Brant, are you ticklish?” A smirk falls onto Jiyan’s face and Brant is hesitant at first avoiding eye contact.
“No, I’m not. At least I don’t think so.” The blunette lies but Jiyan catches him.
“You hesitated, that’s all I needed to know.” Jiyan states before digging his fingers into Brant’s armpits.
“Woahahah-hey!” The captain bursts out into laughter trying to push Jiyan’s fingers away.
“See, you’re smiling already.” Jiyan teases before trailing his fingers down to Brant’s sides.
“This isn’t fair!” The blunette almost whines as Jiyan assaults his tummy.
“Then fight back.” The teal haired man remarked. “Or is someone too ticklish?”
“You’re heavy.” Brant struggles underneath the other’s grasp.
“So you’re calling me fat?” Jiyan raises an eyebrow at the blunette.
“Wait! No!” A squeal escapes Brant’s lips feeling Jiyan squeeze at his upper ribs underneath his shirt. “I didn’t mean it like that!”
“It’s too late now.” A cocky smile spreads across Jiyan’s face watching Brant squirm underneath him. Was he always this adorable?
“Ahahahaah Jiyan let go! Please!” Brant hollers out in laughter as the general blows a raspberry right on his tacet mark across his chest. “I can’t take it!” The pirate flails around, his boots kicking in the air and scratching against the wooden planks.
“Will you go back to sleep?” Jiyan creeps his hand underneath the blunette’s shirt.
“Arghahah yes!” Brant squeaks and the teal haired man releases him from his grip. The other catches his breath rebuttoning his shirt.
The following morning, Brant meets up with Rover in the bathroom while Jiyan is still asleep under the covers.
“Oh, good morning Captain Brant. How’d you sleep?” Rover greets the blunette combing the ends of his mullet.
“About your friend Jiyan, is he single?” A blush forms onto Brant’s cheeks.
A/N: I just think Brant deserves all the love and tickles 🥹

Summary: Gaming tags along with Aether on his trip back to Natlan to meet one of his newest friends, Kinich. Though Gaming thinks the raven despises him and asks Aether advice on how to make him smile.
Gaming hums behind Aether and Paimon as they stroll around the grassy terrain of Natlan. Aether was visiting a friend of his and happened to run into Gaming who had nothing better to do but tag along.
“Tell me about your new friend, Aether!” The brunette exclaims.
“He’s scary.” Paimon answers and Aether laughs shaking his head.
“He’s not scary, Paimon.” The blonde shrugs off the girl. “He’s just quiet.”
“That’s okay. Chongyun and Xiao are pretty quiet too, if he’s like them I can handle it.” Gaming says thinking of his friends back in Liyue.
“And he has that awful disease of a companion with him too!” Paimon frowns. “What’s his name? Axel or something?”
“His name is Ajaw.” Aether corrects. “He may be a pain but he’s a part of Kinich so we gotta be nice to him too.”
“He better not cause any problems.” Paimon huffed.
“Wow this new friend sounds like fun! I can’t wait to meet him.” Gaming’s eyes lit up at the thought of meeting someone new.
The bi color haired boy is known for his extroverted tendencies befriending anyone he crosses paths with.
“There he is!” Aether spots Kinich standing near his tribe camp.
Ajaw is flying next to the raven scolding him about something.
Gaming is star struck by the raven’s emerald lizard like eyes and tan skin that glistens in the sunlight. He had to be his friend!
“Hey Kinich! I hope it’s okay that we brought a friend along with us.” Aether bows his head to the raven.
“It’s fine.” Is all Kinich says giving Gaming a look before turning his attention back to the fire.
“My name is Gaming and I’m from Liyue. It’s so nice to meet you!” Gaming holds out his hand towards the raven who just looks at it.
“Yeah nice to meet you.” The raven doesn’t return the handshake continuing to roast the fish over the fire.
“Remember I don’t like mine too crispy!” Ajaw orders to the raven.
“You will get yours how I cook it.” Kinich shoos him away.
“Whats that thing? He’s kinda cute.” Gaming widens his eyes at Ajaw.
“My nightmare, my headaches and my back pain.” Kinich answers glaring at the pixel creature.
“Hey! I’m not cute! Get that through your thick skull!” Ajaw snaps at the bi color haired boy.
“But you’re so small.” Gaming continues to tease the creature.
Aether and Paimon get started on the picnic laying out the quilt along as passing around plates and utensils.
During dinner Gaming tries to make conversation with Kinich but the raven would only give him one word answers. Though whenever Aether would tell a story at the picnic, he had Kinich’s undivided attention. Did the raven not like him somehow? It couldn’t be! Gaming was the most likable person on this earth. From what he recalled, he’s never had any enemies.
Gaming also decides to compliment the raven’s looks such as his headband and his boots. The raven only says a brief thanks not even bothering to look him in the face. Hmm, he’s never had anyone treat him like this before.
“Hey, does your friend not like me?” Gaming couldn’t help but ask Aether on their way back to their hotel room after parting ways with Kinich and Ajaw.
“What do you mean?” Aether raises an eyebrow tilting his head to the side.
“Well, he barely talked to me as if I didn’t exist plus he never makes eye contact with me. Did I do something wrong?” A pout forms on Gaming’s face.
A laugh escapes from Aether’s lips. “Kinich is just very introverted, don’t take it personally. If you think he has a problem with you, you can talk to him in the morning before we leave.”
“Oh I see.” Gaming hums tapping his chin. “I just never seen him smile so I don’t know if he’s happy most of the time.”
“He definitely smiles. It may not be big but it’s there.” Aether remarked. “If you want to see him smile, he’s quite ticklish.”
“Really?” A smug smile forms on Gaming’s face.
“Yep! Aether pinned him down one time in a tickle fight, it was fun to watch!” Paimon expresses.
“Oh shoot!” Gaming checks his pockets realizing he left his watch at Kinich’s camp. “I think I left my watch. I’ll have to go back and get it.”
“Do you want us to accompany you?” Aether questions and Gaming shakes his head.
“I remember where the camp is! Plus I’ll take your advice on making Kinich smile.” Gaming sends him a wave before storming out of the hotel room.
Gaming spots the familiar camp with Kinich’s tribe members a few feet away. The bi color haired boy asks the members if they seen a particular wrist watch and they shake their heads.
“What’re you doing back here?” He hears Kinich’s voice behind him and Gaming literally jumps three feet in the air.
“Oh uh I lost my watch and I was asking around if anyone’s seen it.” He anxiously rubs the back of his neck.
“You left it in the picnic basket.” Kinich hands the bi color haired boy’s watch which is unusually warm.
“Thanks so much!”
“Yeah, you should leave now.” Kinich gestures towards the pathway leading to the city.
“Is there a problem between us?” Gaming blurts out.
“Excuse me?” Kinich raises an eyebrow.
“Well you’re always so short with me as if you don’t want to be friends. Do you hate me or something?”
The raven pinches the bridge of his nose. “I don’t hate you. I barely even know you. So for you to make assumptions like that is unfair, don’t you think?”
“Hmm you’re right. You’re just so quiet around me but with Aether you talk to him a lot.”
“Because I know him.” Kinich states.
“And you never smile either.” Gaming squints his eyes at him.
“Sometimes there’s no need to smile.” The Raven nonchalantly shrugs his shoulders.
“ Aether told me something interesting about you. I hope it’s okay that I try it out to make sure he wasn’t lying.” Without another word, Gaming tackles Kinich to the ground catching the raven off guard.
“Hey! What’re you doing?” Kinich raises his voice at the bi color haired boy who has the raven’s arms pinned above his head.
“Making you smile.” Gaming smirks digging his fingers into the other’s armpits.
A soft chuckle is heard from the raven who bites his lips. Jackpot.
“So you are indeed ticklish.” The bi color haired boy ponders poking and prodding at the raven’s upper ribs.
“You proved your point, can you stop now?” Kinich tries to push him away with a tiny smile on his face.
“Get his sides.” Ajaw whispers into Gaming’s ears.
Kinich almost gasps at the betrayal and Gaming is on top of the raven straddling him as he squeezes at his sides.
The raven bursts out into bubbly laughter attempting to push Gaming’s hands away. The bi color haired boy’s heart stirs a beat getting a good look at Kinich’s smile. The smile could literally kill someone by how wholesome and sweet it is.
“What about here?” Gaming teases the other slightly lifting up his shirt to scratch at his tummy.
“Hah, no.” A small squeak erupts from the raven as he flinches from the other’s touch.
“Sounds pretty ticklish to me.” The bi color haired boy snickers continuing to assault his abdomen even wiggling a finger inside his navel earning a squeal from the raven.
Kinich is writhing underneath Gaming, his hair splayed out in all directions, and his eyes closed shut. This is getting dangerous.
Gaming also playfully experiments with the other’s hips as he squeezes the fleshy skin. Kinich literally spasms trying to curl himself into a ball. When that didn’t work, Kinich attempts to tickle Gaming himself poking at his sides.
Though the bi color haired boy’s will to make him smile was stronger as he blows a raspberry against his side. Kinich cutely giggles and squirms at the sensation clutching his abdomen.
“Wow you really can smile.” Gaming decides that the raven has had enough releasing him from his grasp.
“You say that as if I’m not a human.” The raven frowns at the other who puts his hands up in surrender.
“Never said you weren’t. Though you should smile more often, it looks good on you.” Gaming winks an eye at the raven.
“I’ll think about it.” A red hue forms on Kinich’s cheeks.
“See you tomorrow!” Gaming cheerfully waves at the raven before jogging towards the city.
Sethno (Sethos & Cyno) relationship analysis pt. 1!
I've been contemplating if I should post it here but it's my job to spread the sethno agenda everywhere so HERE WE GO!!!! I am here to present to u (whoever is reading this) this fairly long in-detail analysis of the relationship between the General Mahamatra, the current vessel of Hermanubis, Cyno and the current leader of the Temple of Silence, the former vessel of Hermanubis, Sethos to explain why their relationship is so interesting and hopefully to get more ppl to understand them better! (and also, bc… well… someone had to do this and since no one else was willing to I decided to take my chance and have a go at analysing their relationship and compiling everything we know about them so far *thumbs up emoji*)
NOTE - Will update this as more content gets released/more parallels are revealed!
Contents:
Comparing their visual designs
Who is Hermanubis and how did he shape the course of their lives?
Oathkeeper (Cyno's 2nd story quest) - Sethos's introduction as a playable character (NPC at the time of release) and his interactions with Cyno
Mirrors/parallels with each other
Sethos’s story and voicelines – finalising their relationship: who are Sethos and Cyno to each other and why are their lives so intertwined/their stories so inevitably interconnected?
Conclusion! (or more like a few last words from me)
Now, to clear one thing up before we get on with this – I AM IN NO WAY OR FORM forcing anyone to ship them or see their relationship in a romantic light, despite the fact that I do ship them myself. U are free to think about them as u wish, I’m just here to give my opinion and vision of them because I feel like many ppl are misinterpreting their relationship or even throwing it out of the window completely bc they just don’t get it (and that rlly hurts to see so I had to do something about it). ALSO btw just so u are aware, English is not my first language and I’m not great at analysing things and so if I word something in a slightly strange or unusual way or if I repeat myself too many times then I apologise, I genuinely tried my best to make this the best that I possibly could make it to be because these 2 and their relationship means a lot to me, and I’ve been having a crazy hyperfixation on them since the day when I finished Oathkeeper and went insane over their dynamic and potential. AAAAAAAND that’s all I have to say for now, so let’s get onto the essay! :3
!!! SPOILER ALERT FOR CYNO’S 2ND STORY QUEST “OATHKEEPER” AND SETHOS’S VOICELINES AND STORY! I recommend u to finish the quest and take a look through Sethos’s character profile before u read this!
PART 1 - Comparing their visual designs!
As we likely already know (or might have guessed), Cyno and Sethos were designed to be visual counterparts of each other, and their designs use the same/similar colours to different extents! Cyno has medium length white hair while Sethos has long dark brown hair with some white/grey highlights. Their eye colours – Sethos’s bright green eyes and Cyno’s red eyes – are opposite each other on the colour wheel. Sethos’s primary outfit colour is white with dark brown as the secondary colour, while for Cyno it’s the opposite – his primary outfit colour is dark brown with white as the secondary colour. The colour that stands out the most in Sethos’s outfit is orange on his scarf, complimented by dark purple, while in Cyno’s outfit it’s the dark purple that stands out the most, complimented by orange, though of a different shade to the orange in Sethos’s outfit. Both of their designs also include golden accessories or ornaments (and in Sethos’s case, many of them are shaped like an hourglass, the symbol representing his Ba fragment), and another detail I’ve noticed is Sethos’s golden armband on his left arm kind of “matches” the mark on Cyno’s left arm (not sure on what it is called though). So, I guess u can say that their designs complement each other well, as well as “mirror” each other! (Note – THEY LOOK INSANELY GOOD TOGETHER I’M OBSESSED WITH THEIR DESIGNS sorry I just had to add this)
(also - this part was inspired by @ cynoimpact ‘s mini comparison thread on twitter that was made after the 4.6 Special Program where Sethos was first shown!)
As for their drip marketing arts u can also notice some interesting parallels in them – the poses are somewhat similar but Cyno holds his polearm in his right hand behind him while Sethos holds his bow in his left hand in front of him, and their free hands are lifted to be at the same level as their faces or slightly higher.
Cyno’s default signature outfit is called the “Heart of the Scales” (and according to the wiki, the Chinese name for it is 衡断之心 (Héngduàn zhī Xīn) meaning “Heart of Judgement”) – does that ring a bell? If not then I will tell u that in Ancient Egypt there was a strong belief that after a person dies, they will be judged in the Hall of Maat by placing their heart (conscience) on the scales representing balance and justice and weighing it against an ostrich feather (known as the feather of Maat) representing purity, truth and balance. If the heart balanced with the feather of Maat, then the person would pass the test and gain eternal life. Now, back to the Heart of the Scales, its description reads:
“Cyno's outfit. This garb displays the General Mahamatra's dignity and the just principles he sticks by. It was a rather complicated piece to commission due to Cyno's request for the custom-made head ornaments and requires regular maintenance.”
Meanwhile, Sethos’s default signature outfit is called the “Golden Sandstrider” (again according to the wiki, the Chinese name for it is 金沙行者 (Jīnshāxíng-zhě) meaning “Golden Sandwalker”) and its description reads:
“Sethos's outfit. The lapel is the shade of golden sand, embodying the vast desert that raised him, as well as his faith.”
Not much to say about this but it does go back to the point that Sethos’s design links in very closely to the ToS, SPECIFICALLY his Ba fragment as there is A LOT of hourglass-related ornaments/elements in it.
There’s also imagery related to their Ba Fragments in their designs! Cyno’s helmet has the eye motif at the back, and Sethos’s scarf has the hourglass motif, and I will come back to expand on this when discussing their lore!
And of course, we can’t forget that during their fight in the Rite of Duels in their Hermanubis enhanced states, Cyno’s claws are black/dark purple while Sethos’s claws are white – once again, clearly meant to contrast with each other and compliment their designs! In terms of visions, they are both Electro vision wielders which means that they have certain ideals/traits in common (yep, despite being almost polar opposites in many ways) – I will come back to this at the part discussing their lore!
A/N: Big, big thanks to kind @eliankrios for his suppooort ❤️❤️ thank you for being patient with me! I was in some kind of writers block, but it seems okay now lol. I hope you enjoy this and, as always, I hope they're not too OOC nskdkd THANK YOU ELIAN 💕

Summary: After learning that there is a way to actually win against Cyno, Sethos finally takes his chance to try!
Lots of tickling descriptions hehe
Words: 3k+
Sethos was not, by all means, ashamed of losing against Cyno for Hermanubis’ power. If he was completely honest, some part of him told him that he had no chance against General Mahamatra himself, so he was not surprised by the result of the duel, if anything, he felt honored for fighting with him and seeing Cyno's friends dueling with and for him. Having good companions, people you can trust and who always give you a hand was very important in the desert.
Furthermore, being recognized as the heir of the Temple of Silence clan by Cyno and promising a new alliance with the city of Sumeru, was more than he could have imagined... and also gave him excuses to visit Avidya Forest frequently. There were so many things to do, see and eat and so many interesting people that he could talk to for hours on end.
Many of his new friends were there too. Cyno, Tighnari, the traveler and even that interesting person he had met at the Akademiya. So he always got very excited when he was called by Cyno for important meetings, which usually consisted of him teaching him how to play Genius Invokation and Sethos failing miserably in every single game.
“You need to practice some more,” Cyno said, beating Sethos for the fifth consecutive time. “Don't you play in the Temple of Silence?”
Sethos sighed deeply, automatically throwing his cards to Cyno for him to shuffle them. “We, sadly, don't have much time to play like this. We have things to do, you see.”
His lips spread in a mischievous smile, and although Tighnari and the traveler laughed behind their hands, Cyno simply huffed out a laugh through his nose and rolled his eyes with a little smile in his mouth.
“I see. Good thing you're now in Avidya Forest, so get ready to practice a lot.”
Sethos whined. "Technically, we're in the Traveler's wolrd..." He knew that the general wouldn't let him leave or stop the game until he defeated him at least once.
“Cyno, you're being too harsh on Sethos,” Tighnari said, propping his chin in the palm of his hand to look at Cyno with that dreamy expression that always made Sethos blush and look away. He was sitting to Cyno's right at the four-sided table. Aether right in front of Tighnari while Paimon floated around them.
“Yeah.” Paimon nodded. “Sethos has had his head in the sand his entire life, even a game of Genius Invokation is too much for him.”
“P-Paimon…”
All three men around him turned their heads away, trying to contain their laughter. Sethos felt his cheeks heating up and he fanned his face with his hand.
“L-Listen, I've been attending to my… duties and- and Genius Invokation isn't exactly a popular game in the desert…”
Cyno cleared his throat. “Anyways, the next round is about to start.”
“You got this, Sethos!” Aether cheered, but Sethos whined loudly as he saw Cyno making the first move.
There was a time when Sethos won, but they had to play about twenty times and Sethos had only won because the traveler had tickled Cyno to distract him.
Setho chuckled to himself and Cyno looked at him with narrowed eyes.
Who would've thought General Mahamatra was a ticklish person? Certainly not him, yet again he had never been too fixed on tickling someone, or being tickled himself. That until he met this bunch of interesting people. He still remembered that special training he had with Aether the first time he showed the world inside his teapot, but he still hadn't had the chance to give it a try… could it be that tonight was the night?
“Hey, tell you what.”
“Hmm?” Cyno mumbled, barely paying attention.
“Let's have… another kind of duel.” That caught everyone's attention and four pairs of curious eyes landed on him. “If you win this duel… We'll keep playing Genius Invokation until I finally win,” he said with a grin and Cyno arched an eyebrow. “However,” Sethos continued. “If I win, then you'll give me a break for at least the rest of the night.”
“What kind of duel?” Aether voiced the question in Cyno's expression, his golden eyes shining in wonder.
Sethos chuckled, “you'll see once we start. We won't need weapons or anything, just our bare hands,” he said, lifting both his hands and wiggling his fingers, trying to give a clue to Cyno, but the only one who seemed to understand was Aether who smiled knowingly at Sethos. “So?”
Cyno pondered for a bit, his eyes traveling from the cards to Sethos face, then back to the cards and then to Tighnari's face.
“I think a break sounds good,” Tighnari said, his tail swinging lazily from side to side. “You both have been at this for who knows how many-
“This is the sixth time and I think I'll lose again,” Sethos said and this time even Paimon laughed.
Cyno nodded. “Fine. I hope you don't mind us using your yard for this duel,” he said kindly to Aether and the traveler shook his head with a smile.
“Paimon’s so excited to see what's this all about!”
Sethos had been feeling excited too, but as they got up from the table and walked towards the traveler's large yard, he couldn't help but feel nervous. Aether had told him that this was a good way to beat Cyno, but what if he lost too? It wasn't a thing of honor or anything like that, his brain just couldn't stand that game anymore!
“Eep!” Sethos jolted when he felt a poke to his ribs from behind, turning around, he was glad it was Aether. “Y-You surprised me, traveler.”
“Did you finally decide to do it?”
Sethos nodded softly. “Yeah, my head is starting to hurt. Let's see if your special training was of any use.”
Aether laughed. “I wonder too, you lost far too many times,” he reminded him and Sethos laughed when he felt a squeeze to his side. “Just remember all the spots I told you about and do not let him pin you.”
Whoa, it really sounded like this was going to be even more dangerous than the Rite of Duels back in the Temple of Silence. Sethos nodded as he gulped, finally planting himself in front of Cyno while Aether, Tighnari and Paimon looked at them from the side.
“So? Is it like a wrestling match?”
“Y-Yeah, something like that. At the count of three, okay? One… two!”
“Ack! W-Wha– hey! S-Sehehethos!”
Sethos almost froze when he heard Cyno's giggles as his hands latched to the General's sides and started to squeeze them gently, but firmly just as Aether had told him.
“Pff– a tickle fight?” Tighnari asked in disbelief, yet a little smile still pulled at his lips.
“L-Like Paimon said,” she chuckled softly, floating beside Aether. “Sethos has had his head too deep in the sand…”
“Place your bets, everyone,” Aether chirped. “I bet Sethos will win.”
“No way,” both Paimon and Tighnari said and by the looks of it, it seemed like they were right.
“AHAHAHA! n-nohoHOHo!”
It wasn't Cyno's laughter, but Sethos. He definitely understimated Cyno's abilities. Aether made it look way too easy and Sethos was extremely ticklish! How on earth did he even think that was a good idea?! He didn't know how, but he was able to tickle Cyno for exactly five seconds before he was thrown to the soft grass, pinned by one of Cyno's knees against his lower back and both the General's hands clawing at the back of his ribs.
“Heh, you really thought you'd win against me?” Cyno spoke over Sethos laughter and the poor heir could only kick his legs and flail his arms around. “Did the traveler tell you about this? I'm sure he'll learn his lesson later.”
Poor traveler! Sethos somehow gathered enough strength to lift his body, successfully pushing Cyno off him and causing him to fall butt first against the grass. The general didn't have time to get up before Sethos was straddling his waist, his hands vibrating at the exposed stomach. Cyno threw his head back with a cackle and he tried to fight Sethos hands, but Sethos was agile and he laughed, trying to sound teasy, but just sounding nervous.
“H-How’s that, hmm? General Mahamatra is seriously so ticklish,” Sethos teased, one of his hands clawing at the middle of Cyno's tummy, around his belly button while the other wrapped around his hip, trying to hold him in place, but also tickling him slightly. “You gotta make sure no one knows your weakness, or else you'll get in trouble~!”
“S-Stohohohop or Ihihihi- AHAHAHA! WAHAHAIT!”
Sethos jolted just as hard as Cyno did when he slipped one of his fingers inside his navel. He was surprised by the nearly hysterical laughter he was able to evoke from Cyno as he lightly tickled his navel, simply wiggling his finger around inside the little spot. Sethos giggled softly, tickling really was fun.
Feeling extra mischievous, Sethos stopped momentarily so he could place one hand over Cyno's stomach, his thumb and index finger stretching his bellybutton nicely as his palm held him somehow in place.
“Any last words?” He asked with a big grin as his finger wiggled at Cyno.
Through slightly teary eyes, Cyno looked at Sethos, a silly smile pulling at his lips. “D-dohon't you dahare or I'll- SEHEHETHOS!”
After teasing the spot gently by simply circling it with the tip of his finger, Sethos finally slipped it back in it, swirling and wiggling and vibrating. Cyno's laughter came out unrestrained, loud and panicky; he jolted and squirmed and desperately pulled at Sethos arms, but Sethos had the upper hand, until he didn't.
In the blink of an eye, Sethos was facing the vast sky inside the Serenitea Pot and Cyno was straddling him, grabbing Sethos’ hands and pulling them under his knees.
“N-Noho! Wahahait! Lihihisten! P-Plehehease!” Sethos begged, giggling although Cyno hadn't started tickling him yet, but he didn't have to wait too long as Cyno's fingers quickly did a little taunt above Sethos’ torso before they descended against his ribcage.
Sethos threw his head back with a tirade of loud cackles. His arms desperately pulled at his trapped hands, but Cyno was firmly pinning him down as his hands roamed freely across his ribcage. Those mean hands traveled from the highest set of ribs, so close to his armpits, to the lowest ones, pinching, poking, prodding and rubbing everything and anything on their way.
Sethos was nearly seeing stars. Aether tickled him so much during their trainings, but never this viciously. Cyno was determined to win… even if it meant tickling Sethos to death?
Firm, but gently fingers rubbed at each bone and space inbetween and Sethos was almost sure Cyno was using some kind of trick, (perhaps his vision?), because there was no way his ribs could tickle like that, was it?
Cyno chuckled, “were you saying? Let's hope the people of the Temple of Silence don't know their leader is this ticklish,” he teased playfully. “Or else you could get in trouble.”
Sethos shook his head, unable to speak as Cyno started to count his ribs out loud: one, two, four– oh no, I meant three, let me start again.
One, two, three… what was the next number? Oh, four right. Let me do it again.
I'm not sure I counted properly, what do you think, Sethos? I'll start over just to make sure.
Sethos, where's the twelveth rib? I don't seem— to find it… can you stop squirming? Also, move your arms away, I can't count like this.
Aether's words resounded in his head: do not let him pin you. Now he understood why.
Sethos’ laughter only grew panickier the more Cyno tickled his poor, sensitive ribs. Tears of laughter already claimed place clinging to his lashes and his flushed cheeks hurt for smiling so hard. If he didn't stop Cyno, he was definitely going to pass out and be forced to keep playing Genius Invokation!
Growling between his laughter, Sethos was able to raise his hips, making Cyno stop right away with a gasp as he reached forward to stop himself from collapsing above Sethos. Sethos wrapped his arms around Cyno's waist and pushed him to the side, both of them rolling a couple of times before Sethos pinned Cyno on his belly.
Immediately, thumbs dug into the muscle of Cyno's lower back, rubbing deep circles and causing him to giggle brightly and kick his feet as he tried to reach behind him to capture Sethos’ hands, his spine arching up as he shook from one side to the other. Meanwhile Sethos felt like he was trembling after that brutal attack to his ribs, his bones still tingling with tickly aftershocks.
He fluttered his fingers up Cyno's spine and dragged his fingertips down that tender spot near his sides, but not quite. He then pinched and squeezed at his lower sides and that place at his kidney area and focused in every spot that made Cyno laugh the brightest. For example, massaging his shoulder blades would make Cyno snort and placing rapid pokes up his spine would make him shriek.
The back of his neck was fairly sensitive as well, Cyno would throw his head back as best as he would when Sethos wiggled his fingers there and snorty giggles would fill the air. The back of his ears was also-
“AHAHAHA! CY-CYNOHOHO!”
“Cy-Cy-yehehehes.”
“Ugh,” three beings in the sides rolled their eyes, but no one noticed as Cyno had managed to get a hold of Sethos’ knees and was squeezing them.
Sethos laughed, squeezing Cyno's waist to make him stop, but Cyno was persistant, his hands moving to squeeze at his thigh and Sethos couldn't stand it. He stood up and tried to make a run for it, but he was able to take two strides before he felt Cyno's fingers closing around one of his ankles, making him fall face first.
“Aaaaghhh! AHAHAHA!”
Sethos banged his fists on the ground as Cyno took a seat on his shins and started to squeeze and massage the back of his knees. Sethos screamed with laughter, how was that spot ticklish?! He tried to kick his legs, but Cyno was squeezing his own around him, limiting his movements as his fingers wiggled in the hollows in the back of Sethos’ knees; his thumbs massaging the muscle, making Sethos shriek with laughter.
“How do you make a knee laugh, Sethos?”
“Oh Archons.”
“He won't say it, right?”
“I think he will.”
“You tickle its funny bone.” Sethos broke into loud laughter as Cyno tickled both the front and the back of one of his knees. “Very funny, right? I'm glad you appreciate my jokes.”
Sethos shook his head, desperately trying to crawl away from underneath Cyno, and shrieking again when now his other knee was under attack. He never knew knees could be ticklish, but of course he had to learn this fact first hand, huh?
“Uff-!” Cyno quickly moved off Sethos when a leg almost hit his groin. Sethos stood up quickly, but then slumped again when his eyes caught Cyno's foot. General Mahamatra read his intentions, and tried to escape, but he was already tired and uncoordinated, so it was not difficult for Sethos to catch one of his ankles, dragging him towards him.
“Where are you going, General? The duel is not over until one of us asks for mercy," Sethos said breathlessly and with a huge smile on his face. "Are you suddenly scared? You didn't want me to tickle your feet? What a shame~.”
Sethos straddled Cyno's ankles, pressing them together between his legs and his blunt nails quickly went to work all over the soles, skittering up under his toes and down to the hollows of his ankles. Cyno became almost hysterical; his toes curled tightly, but Sethos easily pushed them back on one foot with one hand and used the other to scratch at the sensitive skin under and between them.
“SEHEHETHOS! Hohohold ohohon!”
“Do you yield? I will only stop if you give up!” Setho yelled over Cyno's loud laughter, his evil fingers not giving the Mahamatra the chance to catch his breath as Sethos tickled his sole mercilessly.
Cyno was nearly howling behind him, squirming like a little fish out of water as Sethos’ fingers skittered across the balls of Cyno's feet and then to his arches and next to his toes that made Cyno scream with laughter.
“Your toes are so ticklish,” Sethos commented, not really teasing, but if Cyno felt it that way, that was a plus. “How do you go around life being this sensitive?”
Sethos was not expecting an answer from the cackling Cyno, he actually thought he was going to give up at any second now… until he felt a hand grabbing his hip.
“EEK!” Sethos' immediately rose to his feet, brushing his hip to get rid of the tingly sensation that touch caused. “Th-Thahat s-spot is off- off limits!”
Although breathless and tearing up, Cyno smirked, also getting on his trembling feet. “You n-never said anything… haah… about ‘off-limit spots’.”
Sethos gulped before he started to run away from Cyno; he wanted to say that he did run a lot, but only after three steps, Cyno was catching and throwing him back to the grass before straddling Sethos' thighs.
“No!” Sethos' shrieked, laughing as he tried to grab Cyno's hands that were taunting him. He wiggled his fingers high, slowly lowering them towards Sethos' hips. “W-Wahahait up! Y-You must have a w-weak spot, s-so–”
“I do,” Cyno nodded, his hands finally descending to Sethos' hips. “It's a shame, for you of course, that you don't know where that is.”
Sethos couldn't care less about what Cyno was saying at that moment. He was too busy laughing his head off and desperately trying to push Cyno's hands away as the General pinched and squeezed at his hips. Sethos howled in hysterics, he arched his spine and tilted his head back, overwhelmed by the electrifying tickly touches climbing from his hips to his brain. He couldn't do anything against those evil fingers exploring his most ticklish spot.
“Hehe, how's this, Sethos? Is it ticklish? Look how much you're dancing, you're definitely loving this, huh?”
Sethos shook his head, squealing and squeaking between hysterical peals of laughter. “NOHOT THEHERE! AH! P-PLEHEHEASE!” He begged, tears falling the sides of his face. “STAHAHAP! P-PLEHEHEASE!”
“Of course,” Cyno said, chuckling softly. “You just gotta admit you give up. Easy, right?”
“N-Nohoho! J-Juhust– AHAHAFIHIHINE! Fihihine, I gihihive up! PLEHEHEASE!”
Cyno stopped, lifting his hands off the other's body and Sethos went limp, laughing and giggling and rubbing at his hips to get rid of the residual feeling of Cyno's fingers.
“I hope you're ready to properly learn how to play Genius Invokation, Sethos,” Cyno said, crossing his arms over his chest and looking down at Sethos with a smirk. “I won't show mercy this time.”
Sethos let out a whiny giggle, letting his head fall against the grass. “N-Nehext tihihime… I'll- I'll definitely wihin.”
“Mhmm, of course you will,” Cyno chuckled, extending his hand for Sethos to take. “Now let's go, you won't leave Avidya Forest until you win against me at least five times.”
Sethos whined, grabbing Cyno's hand and standing on shaky legs. He looked over at Aether and shrugging his shoulders, he smiled sheepishly.
Next time for sure!
BONUS SCENE
“You owe us, Traveler,” Paimon and Tighnari said with a smug grin and Aether whined.
“I really thought Sethos would win… he still has a long way to go, it seems.”
“To be fair, it's hard to win tickle fights against Cyno,” Tighnari mentioned, shrugging his shoulders as the three of them made their way back to the table where another Genius Invokation duel was taking place
“I can win against him.”
“Haha, yes, but after how many tries was it?” Paimon teased and she and Tighnari laughed at him.
A/N: It was long overdue that I wrote something for this anime and since I noticed, that in like all of the fics so far Sakura had been the lee, I thought that it would be nice to have him as a ler for once...
Summary: Sakura wasn't really good with words of encouragement, but he does know one or two ways to cheer up those who are important to him.
Words: 1,015 words under the cut
Nirei sat on a bench in the school courtyard, his usually cheerful demeanor replaced by a somber expression. He stared down at his hands, lost in thought. Why did he have to be so weak? He wanted to be of help, wanted to stand side by side by his classmates, by Sakura's side, but he was nothing but a burden.
A stupid little weakling that always needed to be saved. He let out a long sigh, not realizing the figure that was approaching him. Sakura had been strolling around the school, looking for him. Not because he was worried of course, he had just noticed Nirei’s unusual quietness and decided to approach him.
“Hey, what’s got you all gloomy?” Sakura asked, trying to sound casual as he stopped in front of the other, his dual-colored eyes focusing on his classmate (read: friend) who seemed ever more fidgety than usual. Nirei looked up, surprised to see Sakura standing before him.
“Oh, hey S-Sakura… It’s nothing, really, hehe~” Nirei replied with a weak smile, but Sakura wasn’t convinced. He knew the blonde well enough that something was definitely not okay with him. “C’mon, spit it out. It's clearly not nothing. I’m not leaving until you tell me,” Sakura insisted, plopping down next to him on the bench.
Nirei sighed and gave him another weakened smile. He really couldn't hide anything from him. “It’s just… I feel like I’m not good enough at anything. I try so hard, but it seems like everyone else is always better than me.” Sakura frowned. This gloomy mood didn't fit the otherwise cheerful and extroverted guy next to him at all and it really made him uneasy.
He wasn’t the best at comforting people, but he couldn’t stand seeing Nirei like this. An idea popped into his head, something he’d seen Suo do countless times. It was a bit out of his comfort zone, but he decided to give it a shot. “Hey, Nirei… You know what? I think I know what you need the most right now,” Sakura said, a hint of a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Huh? What do you mean?” Nirei asked, confused as he faced him. It was strange hearing such words from him, and he got even more confused when he saw this playful? smirk in his face? He was just about to say one more thing when a single action from the other gave him the answer he needed.
Sakura reached out and poked Nirei’s side awkwardly. The blonde jumped slightly, a surprised giggle escaping his lips. “S-Sakura, whaHahat are you doing?” Nirei asked, half-laughing, half-confused, his eyes switching between looking at the finger that had just poked him and the black-and-white-haired.
“Just trying to cheer you up,” Sakura stuttered, feeling a bit more confident. He poked Nirei’s side again, this time with more intent. Nirei’s giggles grew louder, and he squirmed in his seat. Was that really happening? Sakura, the Sakura Haruka was actually trying to tickle him. He made a mental note to add this into his notes later before laughter took him over.
“S-Sakura, waHahahahit! Th-That tickles!” Nirei managed to say between giggles, covering his mouth as his bubbly laughter could be heard. “Good, it’s supposed to!” Sakura said, now with a grin on his face. His fingers began to knead into the other’s side as he slowly began to slid upwards to his ribs, going down again, repeating that action again and again.
His movements were still a bit clumsy since he didn't have much experience in it, but it seemed effective enough to send Nirei into fits of laughter. “N-NohoHoho! S-Sakura!” Nirei laughed, trying to squirm away but not really wanting him to stop. The laughter seemed to lift his worries and he felt like escaping the ticklish clutch wasn't an option.
“See? You’re laughing now. Feeling better?” Sakura asked, not letting up on his tickling. This seemed to work better than he had expected. “M-Maybe a little! But stahaHAhahap!” Nirei pleaded, his laughter ringing through the courtyard. Sakura wasn't fully convinced yet but decided to stop anyways. “Alright, alright,” he said, finally relenting.
He sat back, watching as Nirei tried to catch his breath, a smile now plastered on his face. “You’re such an idiot, you know that?” Nirei said, still giggling a bit as he smiled at him. “EHh~ I- ... Ahh, don't get cocky now~" Sakura teased, pulling him into a side hug, his hand wiggling over his stomach, rubbing over it.
"WaHahahah, I- I'm soHohoHororry!!" Nirei laughed, his hands half-hardly grabbing the wrist of his arm, "trying" to push it away. "Yeah, you better be... well, at least you’re not moping around anymore,” Sakura teased, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "YeHEehs~"
Just then, Suo walked by, catching sight of the two boys, having looked for them himself. He smirked, approaching them with his usual calm demeanor. “Well, well, what do we have here?” Suo said, grinning widely at the scene unfolding in front of him.
Sakura still had the blonde in a gentle side hug, his other hand laid on his stomach, having tickled him there mere seconds ago. “Sakura, were you actually tickling someone? I never thought I’d see the day!” Sakura’s face turned beet red as he quickly let go of the other. “Sh-Shut up, Suo! I was just trying to cheer him up!”
He could feel his face heating up, his earlobes turning red. Suo laughed, ruffling through his hair. “You did good, Sakura. Maybe there’s hope for you yet as a class leader.” Nirei chuckled, looking between the two. “Thanks, Sakura, you really are amazing~” Sakura shrugged, trying to play it cool. Though he couldn't deny the light feeling he felt thereby.
“Yeah, yeah. Just don’t get used to it,” he mumbled, crossing his arms as he looked away. Suo chuckled, clapping Sakura on the back. “Looks like our tough guy has a soft spot after all.” Sakura glared at Suo but couldn’t help the small smile that crept onto his face. Maybe this whole comforting thing wasn’t so bad after all.
