I interrupt our usual programming for a public service announcement.
If you have a late model of Smart Phone such as the Android Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, your phone is capable of taking pictures like this:
How the fuck, you ask? Here's how.
Go somewhere at night with little to no light pollution.
Open your camera and go to pro mode.
Adjust to the following settings, allowing 30 seconds to gather the max amount of light from the night sky.
Place your phone on a tripod or just lean it against some books on a table to keep it still and point the camera towards the part of the sky you want to capture. Don't try to hold it with your hands or you'll get a blurry mess.
Press the circle button thingy to take the photo and wait the 30 seconds it takes to gather all the necessary light.
If you want to be in the photo, have someone flash their phone flashlight on you from several feet away for half a second during those 30 seconds, and be VERY STILL.
Behold the results.
These photos were taken in the Davis Mountains, TX.
