– Good morning, Mr Rand. – I said, when he passed by my desk.
– Good mor- Wait, who are you? – he replied looking at me, confused.
– I’m Y/N Y/L/N. Your new secretary.
– Why wasn’t I aware of this situation?
– I got called just yesterday, Mr Rand.
– I see. – he smiled. – Well, welcome to Rand Enterprises. I hope you enjoy your stay. If you need anything just tell me, okay?
I nodded, siting again, as he left to his office.
– Y/N, I need you! – I heard from Danny’s office.
I got in there, seeing Danny all dressep up in a light brown suit, with his tie all messed up.
– I think I still haven’t learnt how to do this.
I laughed, getting closer to him and taking the tie in my hands. I started to knot it, while he was looking at me.
– I like your eyes. What color are they? It seems like they change everyday.
– They’re kind of brown mixed with green. I’m not really sure either – I laughed, and he smiled.
I finished knotting the tie and took a step back.
– You look great, Mr Rand.
– Thank you. Now, I have to leave, or I’ll be late. Thanks for helping me.
– No problem. That’s why I’m here.
He smiled, nodded and left. I sighed, going back to my desk and siting on the chair, ready to keep sending mails.
I was tying on my keyboard, as fast as I could, when someone placed his hands on my shoulders, scaring me.
I looked back, seeing a smiling Danny.
– If you ever do that again, I swear I will hang your from your tie.
– I’m having a break for lunch. Do you want to join me?
– Okay. – I said, smiling. I took my purse and stood up. – Let’s go.
We left the building, walking slowly.
– So… where do you want to go? – Danny asked.
– I’d kill for a McDonald’s burger right now.
– Then McDonald’s will be.
– Yes! – I celebrated, raising my fist to the air.
We were to the nearest McDonald’s talking about this and that.
– What do you want? – he said, standing on the queue.
– The biggest one. I’m starving.
He laughed, and oredered our food. We sit on a table, one in front of the other, and started eating.
– So, how’s job? – he asked.
– Well, at least my boss is nice.
– Yeah, he has been since the beggining. I don’t want to leave now.
– I bet they don’t want to loose you neither.
– I don’t know. I hope I can stick there after Megan comes back. Not just for the money. It’s… a good job. They’re nice and… I have good views!
– Yeah. My boss’ office is in front of my desk, so…
He blushed, and I laughed.
– Well – he said, with a high pitched voice. – I bet he also thinks he has good views.
– I hope so – I said, smiling.
I was at Dann’y office. Everyone had left already, but us. We had ordered chinese food and were eating, siting on the floor. We were watching the news, when this Daredevil vigilante new appeared.
– I don’t understand this vigilantes. – I said. – Don’t they have a family? Friends Partners? Don’t they think of them when they go out? About how it would affect them if they died?
– Maybe they don’t. They’re kind of lonely wolves, or something…
– Oh, come on, Rand. Everyone has someone who cares about them.
– Yeah, you’re right, but…
– I’m nt cricticizing them, I’m just saying I don’t understand them. If I knew someone I care about is risking his life out there… I don’t know if I could live with that. – He nodded, looking at the ground. – Are you okay?
– Yeah, it’s just… I’m just tired. – he said, smiling. – Let’s… clean up and go home, okay?
– You can go if you want. I’d take care of this.
He shook his head. – I’ll help.
I nodded, standing up and taking my heels from the floor and puting them on my foot, meanwhile he took the boxes we had on the floor.
The phone rang, and I took it, placing it on my ear.
– Rand Enterprises, how can I help you?
– Y/N, it’s Danny. I’m late, and I need you to do something for me.
– Go to my office and open the second drawer on the left. I have a blue envelope there. Open it and tell me what is there inside.
I went to his office and took the envelope. I opened it, and a sheet of pape fell to the floor. I bowed to take it, and saw the little handwritten note.
“Would you like to have dinner with me tonight? - Danny”
– And… what’s your answer?
– Great… – he whispered. – After work?
I looked at my outfit. I guessed it was as good as anything else.
I laughed again. See you.
– Y/N! – I heard behind me. I turned back, seeing Danny running to me. – Y/N, I’m so sorry about yesterday. I thought I’d have my agenda cleared up, but something happened and I…
– It’s okay, Danny. I get it, you’re a busy man.
– No, Y/N, listen to me… – he placed his hand in my arm. – Let’s go to my office… I’ll explain everything to you there.
– Well, I’m your boss, and I say you aren’t going to your desk until you talk to me.
He nodded, and dragged me to the elevator, and then, to his office.
– I have something to tell you.
– Yeah, I got that a while ago…
He started unbuttoning his shirt.
– Look. – he said, pointing at his chest.
– You have a tattoo, so what? I have two…
– It’s not… It’s not a tattoo, Y/N. At least not a normal one. This “tattoo”, as you call it, it’s a signal. A signal of who I am.
– Are you a dragon, or something?
– No! Stop taking this as a joke, please. I’m trying to explain you something…
– Y/N. I’m the Iron Fist. I’m the Guardian of K’un-Lun, and the enemy of the Hand. That’s why I didn’t show up yesterday. I was trying to protect this city, and my own, from the Hand.
– Okay. First, I don’t even know what the fuck you’re talking me about, Danny. What in hell is an Iron Fist, and who is that Hand!? And where is K’un-Lun? Because I have studied Geography for many years and I have never… Wow.
I made myself shut when I saw Danny’s fist glow.
– Y/N, listen to me – he put both his hands, now normal, in my cheeks. – I get if this is too much for you. But listen, I really like you, and I’d love to date you. But I also love my cities, and I have to protect them. Both New York and K’un-Lun. So, if this is overwhelming you, you can leave now and I will…
I stopped him, kissing him. He kissed me back, and took me by my waist. I put my arms around his neck, going deeper in the kiss. After a few minutes, we split.
– I can handle it. I can handle you going there and fight this… Arm.
– Hand – he said, laughing.
– Yeah, the Hand. I can handle it. As long as you promise me you’ll come back to me. Always.
– I promise. I’d never let you go, Y/N.
I smiled, kissing him again.
