Is games going to get more expense?
1. Bigger games bigger budgets
With game getting bigger and more detail its no wonder why they are asking for more money. Call of Duty make Billions of dollar and has Hundred of millions of dollars in marketing just to make sure to get million in sales. Its A Tough AND growing market.
With new engines and grapical that can make life like people or a game with so much context. to make these high end grapcail they do alot of motion capture, art design, and modeling. its takes alot of time and money... and i mean alot of money.
3. Indie Games and mobile game
The new trend in gaming is Indie games They surprise people and draw a lot more money and attention. Battling small game companies is actually a major thing now. also, kid these days are now more interest in mobile rather than console and PC. Its easier, cheap, and much more addiction. Parents prefer mobile game anyway.
DMC and Dragon Age 2 big games with big budget didn't sale enough to cover cost of making. Flops happens in all genres of media but in the game industry with raising technology and used game sales it hard to get back cost for big games. In,2012 two of the biggest games tomb raider and hitman from square UNIX tomb raider sold 2.5 and hit-man sold 5 million and by their calm they didn't break even. That sad with high game sale its still not enough.
Used game stop people from buying new games. New game is the only way game company see profit fro games. In order to counter this they set-up dlc to milk as much as they can out of costumers. It work for many but can stop people from trading in games. second hand sales will survive no matter what they do.
