CW: BODY HORROR AND NON-SEXUAL NUDITY
HOW CLONES ARE MADE
previous research/experimentation concerning cloning has existed prior to tord joining redeux. bing's work (especially in spares) has contributed to this research, however its unclear whether he has any direct affiliation with redeux or not. much of bing's studies had been lost or kept private.
anything revolving clones has always been unstable, whether it's them being formed "incorrectly" from their source (hence the rejects), or having extremely short lifespans due to their bodies being prone to decaying. clones are kept alive by regularly consuming cells from whoever they're sourced from. it doesn't matter how these cells are extracted/consumed. as long as the clone is consistently fed these cells, their body will remain stable.
however, the clone and its source cannot be in close contact for too long. the clone's cells are constantly trying to duplicate using the source's cells, and sometimes this can lead to accidental fusion between them. once the bodies begin to merge together, it is extremely difficult to separate them.
bing's clones all "mysteriously died due to a tragic accident that was totally unrelated to mass murder." any remaining clones eventually died off due to decay since they had no access to their source. since spares, research related to cloning was halted for several years. however, it was picked up again once tord was hired at redeux, as he expressed interest in experimenting with cloning.
attempting to duplicate cells requires a source, and who would be a better test subject other than himself?
CLORD'S CREATION
tord took a sample of his own blood to create clord, who was simply known as "specimen" during this time. "specimen" was kept inside of a test tube as some weird... formless blob thing??? it continued to grow as tord fed it more of his cells over time.
tord noticed that "specimen" had some form of sentience. occasionally, he'd hear tapping on the glass of the test tube, or other weird noises coming from "specimen." eventually, it became responsive to the outside world, such as following movements or reacting to sounds/visuals.
"specimen" would become more responsive, and the tapping on the glass turned into banging. it was hard enough to leave small cracks on the test tube. tord noticed this, yet he doubted that "specimen" would be strong enough to cause any severe damage.
tord had a habit of staying at the redeux facility alone after hours, often sleeping in his workspace and refusing to go home. one night, "specimen" managed to break out of the test tube, and it made its way to tord's body.
"specimen" entered tord's body by melting/merging itself into tord's skin. extra limbs began to form on tord's body as "specimen" used tord's cells to rapidly duplicate. once enough cells/body parts had been duplicated, "specimen" split itself apart from tord's body and had its own, fully formed body.
after this point, "specimen" is now known as clord.
tord was left extremely weak and unconscious after clord was born. while he was knocked out, clord found tord's locker and stole his belongings (clothes, IDs, car keys, etc.) and escaped the facility.
tord's intentions wasn't to create an evil clone of himself, but rather to see if he could create some stable lifeform that would be useful for people. being able to duplicate cells means that any extra parts created could be used for research, medical purposes, and progressing in biotech.
while tord successfully managed to create a clone of himself, it didn't turn out the way he had hoped.
Had some hc-y thoughts about some regional differences between inkadian inkfish and splatlandian inkfish. Lots of things I meant to write on the inkling page was covered in the octarian page so it looks like I had some favoritism- but I hope you like regardless! Sillies!
