Ok but imagine that after rocky and Grace get to erid and after everything calms down after the our planet is not going to die and oh my God rocky is that an alien?! I like to think that rocky and adrien would quickly decide to have children, leading to ryland speedrunning becoming the uncle of five alien kids (dw he loves it)
Where Simon is struggling to learn how to communicate with them, but he isn't stupid.
Every day, Garce gives him literally the best food he's ever tasted, then he watches him struggle down a bowl of coma slurry.
There's so much food on the ship, and Grace doesn't know how to explain that the good stuff is almost gone. But he doesn't have to. Food was always scarce. He's seen the older boys on Eden eat the nastier stuff to spare the young ones. He's both been the younger kid and the older one in that situation.
So the best meal he doesn't start eating, he waits until Grace mixes up the coma slurry. Then he goes over and switches the two. He ignores Grace's words of half hearted protest, and take a bite.
It's still so much better than the slop he was fed at the prison. So he gives Grace a shrug and a smile and gets back with his language lessons.
Meanwhile, Rocky is over in his ball, like, "Ha! Rocky told Grace food experience not important! Half human agrees! "👎👎👎
There's been approximately a million of these scam bots in the tags advertising what I can only assume is an unsafe piracy website. I'm not risking my pc by checking it but if they're resorting to spam bots to advertise I wouldn't trust it. If you need to pirate the film, check reddit's r/piracy community for recommended websites, NEVER go to a random link.
All of the posts seem to have this same format, title asking where to watch the film, blurb complaining about modern piracy sites being bad, edit advertising site. most of these sound like ads but some are written more casually in a way that may be convincing to some.
I think one of the gentlest things in the world is when a friend just gets your weird little brain. like you say half a sentence and they finish it. you reference something incredibly niche from seven years ago and they’re already nodding. they understand your strange vocabulary for emotions that don’t have real words yet. it’s being seen and known and still loved. maybe especially because you’re known. god. what a gift.

Okay so I need to go to bed but I managed to get chapter six done soooo....
It's a puppet show. Here's a snippet under the cut.
“There were all these C.O.I space stations. They had a bunch of people gathered over all of them. The largest one was Filament Station.”
He pointed to an especially large clump of aluminum.
“Eden attacked Filament Station for 9 days. When Eden found themselves backed into a corner, they took… drastic measures. I’m not sure what happened exactly, but the resulting radiation was so bad from whatever they did that the whole station was unlivable. Nearly 70 people died.”
Rocky lowered his carapace. “Sad sad sad.”
“Yeah… Really sad. There weren’t a lot of people left to start with, and that took out a big chunk of them. Not to mention the one space station that had resources and experts to share with the collective. The brain drain was…”
Ryland glanced around at his stupid little models. In this moment, he wished he hadn’t agreed to this. It felt painfully disrespectful to all of the people who had lost their lives. He pulled the little Filament Station under the table. “It was really bad for everyone.”
“Humans stupid, statement.”
“Most of the time.”
Grace continued. “All those skilled people were really important, and now they were gone. Humans can learn new things, but it takes time and… Good teachers. The C.O.I. were really lost without all of those folks. Not to mention all the food and plants that were completely unusable now.”
“They took the remaining Eden members from Filament Station prisoner. Some surrendered voluntarily. The C.O.I., not wanting to make any remaining people go without purpose, gave them tasks to prove themselves to the collective.”
“It’s a… difficult thing to figure out. I think it was reasonable that they wanted to give these people a chance to work towards their freedom. Most countries on Earth in my time would have put them to death for an act of terrorism like that. They couldn’t really afford to lose anyone, if they could help it.”
Grace took a deep breath, redying himself for what came next. He hoped Rocky would be understanding.
“So, you know how I told you about Eden and what they had made their people believe?”
“Yes.”
“That’s not fair to do to a person, right?”
“Yes, question?”
“So, I– uh. I think–”
Rocky already knew where this was going. Of course he did.
“Simon was from Eden.”
“Yeah…” Ryland sighed. “I don’t know for sure, but, if they were calling him a convict in a time like this… there’s a good chance.”
Rocky hunched. The reasoning was sound, but he hated the implication.
“I don’t…” Grace pinched at his lips. He wanted to make sure he worded this carefully. “I don’t want to believe that Simon is a bad person. I think he was just misled. He might have been one of the ones that turned themselves in – might have already been able to see through what was happening on Eden.”
“... We can’t know yet, but I wanna hope that that’s true.”
Rocky slowly leaned himself to one side, then back to the other. He tapped his feet in place, two at a time from front to back.
“I don’t want to assume that he’s dangerous, either. We have him contained right now, technically, but… I still want to give him a chance.”
Rocky gave himself a moment to think it over. There wasn’t any undoing the rescue mission that they’d done, Simon was here now. That was that. Grace clearly understood other people better than he did, so after some thought, he put his faith in the hands of his friend.
“...Rocky trust Grace. Want to give Simon a chance, too.”
Grace heaved a sigh of relief, pressing his head against the table in front of the models.
“Thank you. That means a lot to me, Rocky.”
It wasn’t without a caveat. “If Simon dangerous Rocky send him out airlock. Statement.”
Grace felt like the wind had been knocked out of him. He started cackling, falling behind himself onto the floor.
“I love you, Rocky.”
“Love you too, Grace. Being serious.”
“I know you are.” He wiped a tear from his eye. It felt nice to have a laugh after everything he’d been through today.
He pulled himself together, clapping his hands. “Alright, so after all that.”
“The C.O.I started to discover these weird moons as they were flying along.” He pulled all but one of the ships under the table and drew the remaining one along to the far end. He drew up a tiny red ball near the ship.
“They found this moon, AT-5. That’s Sanguis. They think there’s something down there worth finding. They’ve sent missions down there before, but it looks like all of them failed. Some ended up in ships that weren’t recovered.”
Grace paused. The woman’s voice from the SM-8 jumped into his head.
“Ava. You have to find us. Please! The answer is right there!”
He shook himself out of it.
“Others came back up, but with limited info. They were determined that there was something down there worth finding. So they kept trying. That’s where Simon comes in.”
He pulled his own little xenonite figure out from below the table, imitating a trumpet’s fanfare. Alongside it, he produced a little model of the SM-13.
“This was Simon’s chance to pay back his debt to the C.O.I. so that he could be free.”
Rocky cheered. “Go, Simon!”
Grace chuckled, raising his fist in the air, model in hand. “Whoo, Simon!”
He wiggled the xenonite man toward the little sub before setting him down on the table.
“So, Simon goes down in the sub.”
He pulled the planet and the larger ship away, leaving the SM-13 hovering in front of him.
“He maps the ocean with his submarine. He can’t see outside the ship, so he uses the sensors to feel his way through this big, scary ocean.”
“Wait, wait. No sonar?”
“No sonar. Only a proximity sensor and a camera to take pictures at the back of the ship.”
“Amaze. Very brave.”
“Very brave,” Grace nodded. He’d decided to spare Rocky the explanation on how the camera worked. Just having it on the ship with them would be unsettling enough if he knew it was the reason Simon had been so irradiated.
“Eventually he loses his connection to the ship, so they can’t pull him up anymore. So what do you think Simon does?”
Rocky was stunned. “He lost connection to ship, question?”
“Yup. But he kept on going.”
Grace tugged the ship back and forth in front of himself.
“He was sure that if he kept trying, he could find something to save everyone. That he could get back to the ship and save himself. This was bigger than him.”
Grace stopped the ship in place. He looked to Rocky.
“This is where things get scary.”
“The blip.”
“Yup,” Grace confirmed. He pulled a large toy shark out from under the table.
“Simon realized that he was being followed by a creature in the ocean. It had taken other sub pilots before him. It wanted to take him too.”
He pretended that the shark was chasing the ship, giving a rendition of the JAWS theme as he bobbled them around each other.
“Simon wasn’t about to let that stand in his way. He had a mission. So he outran the creature, and tried his best to get the black box in the ship to safety – even when he knew that he wasn’t going to be rescued. Even if the creature got him, he wanted to make sure everything he learned down there made it back up to the C.O.I station.”
“...And then?”
“And then… we grabbed him.” Grace let all the pieces fall under the table, clapping his hands together.
“We still have the black box, unfortunately. But the ship that should have been orbiting Sanguis wasn’t there when we showed up. I wish I knew what happened to those folks but–”
“They abandon Simon, question?”
“I–” Grace didn’t know the best way to answer that. None of this explained how AT-5 ended up on their readouts. He still wasn’t sure how to explain that to himself, much less Rocky.
“I don’t know. I think something might have happened to them, too. We just… Probably didn’t make it in time.”
“Oh.” Rocky said, dismissing his defensive posture.
“All so sad. Don’t make sense.”
“I know, Rock. That’s just all I know so far.”
Grace stood from his chair, making his way over to kneel in front of Rocky’s ball.
“I’m gonna keep working on it,” He assured him. “There has to be an explanation for all of this. I’ve got some theories, but it’ll take a little time to figure it out.”
“In the meantime, we’ve just gotta worry about keeping Simon safe. That’s our new project.”

Grace not certain what parts of Simon are injuries and what parts are normal for him. Thinking he's some sort of human/alien hybrid.
Simon injured recovering struggling to learn Grace's language. Struggling to figure out the models that rocky gives him trying to understand his language.
Grace bursting with questions he isn't able to communicate to Simon. He just want to understand everything about him.
I am so sick of the sugarification and diet culture of everything.
Everything comes with sugar, even things that aren't meant to and naturally taste different, such as plant-based milks, liquorice and matcha. I have to go out of my way to find a low sugar version or get told to add sugar when I order it.
On the other side when I do go to get the low sugar versions its seen as me participating in some weird diet culture bs and its just full of gross sweeteners. No I don't get sugar-free because of that I just don't want sweets, they aren't my thing generally. And not to mention its somehow more expensive at times.
Sugar is good for you, glucose helps with energy and brain power. Eating sweet things can make you happy, which is a good thing, so it's healthy.
Are there diabetic and insulin resistant people? Yes, I am the latter. So having access to sugar free food is great and needs to be more accessible, but also, just stop making the alternative shoving it full of sweeteners, please.
No seriously! Like I just dont really have a big sweet tooth. It's so annoying to have to go find diet branded stuff to avoid unnecessary sugar. Like I dont want my savory stuff sweet.
