How the Other Half Live (Santa|| L)
Of course he’d think that.
"I wouldn’t peg me as that type either. I’m about as knowledgeable as anyone who pays attention. They have signs up bragging about how rare and expensive these flowers are."
Why would a guy who knows about flowers be interesting? This guy needs to talk to some real people.
"I suppose it would be a little hard to notice that if your nose is stuck in a book. Not a lot of people are paying attention to what’s around them, huh?"
The guy seemed smart to Santa, and certainly talked like he knew a lot, but he didn’t seem like he paid attention to other people. He just talked through how he thought the class structure worked then moved on, as if there wasn’t anything else left to say. He wanted to punch him.
"Not everything is worth the attention it takes to notice ..." he murmured, this young man truly was tiresome, the detective wasn't in the mood to argue the finer points of what was or was not and he had nothing to prove to him really. Besides, he was on an extended vacation from paying attention, he needed to at some point avoid being attentive. So far he had failed miserably at it.
"For someone who dislikes the wealthy you pay them a great deal of attention, most don't bother to read plaques or signs," he quipped nonchalantly, flipping a page, wondering why he was even still reading the book. Perhaps if the young man became more interesting he might discard it.
