One of the many daughters of the previous ruler of Fara. She is peculiar for having inherited the ability to speak to birds from her mother’s side.

Pietro

One of the students of Deandre taken hostage on board the Vesper.

Jass

Cook and surgeon on board the Vesper, and seemingly normal human being, he is the friendliest and wildest member on board the Vesper. But he still knows how to use a sword.

Peonia

The fairy on Davide’s shoulder. Not much is known about her, but she never leaves his side.

Walem Balem

One of the stranger members on board the Vesper. She doesn’t talk much, and all we know about her for now is that she is from Uan.

Theron

A rather quiet member on board the Vesper. He doesn’t talk much and keeps to himself. Seemingly a normal human being, what would have compelled him to board the Vesper?

Desdee

The oldest of the three sisters. She’s relatively more quiet and mellow than her younger sister, she remains nonetheless a disquieting presence.

Delhia

Middle child of the three sisters. She came out shorter than the rest and never forgave the world.

Sidonia

Youngest of the three sisters, and the most disturbed. She filled her teeth down to points, and loves hunting for treasures.

Took me a week to make it, and several redraws, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I've been publishing Vesper's Ocean on most sites that hosts webtoons and comics, and my dream is to get it published as an actual book soon. I have a pre-launch for the Kickstarter, but it's all still kind of new to me and I'm not sure if I'm doing everything right

I’ve had quite a few comments about how I draw expressions & cartoons over the years, so I thought I’d finally put together a little guide of sorts as to my approach when drawing real people! These are not strict rules in any capacity, but hopefully it’s interesting to anyone who enjoys this art style :)

when ppl say flash animation pretty much always what i can tell they’re actually thinking of is what is referred to in animation practice as puppet animation, which i agree sucks like 90% of the time (there are a FEW shows that use it very masterfully, like homestar runner and one i’ll show later, though)

THIS is puppet animation:

the funniest part is that most puppet animation isn’t even done in flash anymore. people use after effects instead because it has MUCH more sophisticated and useful tools meant specifically for puppet animation.

the technique can be used well, however. my little pony does it so fluidly it looks practically seamless.

homestar runner doesn’t focus nearly as much on fluidity, but instead on constructing strong, expressive key poses and making every frame really count.

puppet animation isn’t even limited to digital mediums. in fact, it’s not new at all.

the adventures of prince achmed is the world’s oldest surviving feature-length animated film - that’s right, predating snow white by over 10 years - and it was done entirely using puppet animation; black paper cutouts atop illuminated backgrounds. and it’s truly fucking breathtaking.
