Post-Season Slump
It’s now November and for most participants of the marching arts world, you know what that means— the end of the season. With the end of the season either here or approaching, depending on where you live, a lot of things can I happen. I find that I tend to be more emotionally down because I’m no longer getting the exercise and social interaction that I’ve become so dependent on. So I am going to give you guys some tips to survive the post-season slump.
Stay in touch! This may seem obvious, but it’s so easy to fall out of contact with the people we used to see almost daily. In order to prevent this, keep up the conversation. A “how are you?” text every once and a while can truly make a difference.Â
Stay in shape! Just because you won’t be sweating it out on the field anymore doesn’t mean you should stop getting in that daily exercise. It probably won’t be as fun now, but it can yield a lot of benefits. You’ll feel a lot better and do a lot better in the next season if you’re already in shape. 15-30 minutes of cardio can be difficult to fit into a busy schedule, but if you break it up over the day and commit it is achievable.Â
Stay hydrated! It’s not healthy to go from drinking a gallon of water a day to very little within a week. Your body and mind will thank you if you just keep drinking water as often as possible.Â
Practice, practice, practice! Whether you play an instrument or spin equipment, practice is very important. It will make sure that you maintain the skills you spent almost six months honing so you can get better and better with each season.Â
Pick up new hobbies! You may find that you have a lot of extra time on your hands now that it’s over. This is a great opportunity to do new things and learn new skills. Join clubs at school, volunteer with organizations, or even get a job if you can. These things will allow you to make sure that you are making good use of your time.
I hope you guys find this helpful and I hope you had a great season this year. Feel free to DM us with any questions. Like and reblog!
