I felt a sharp chill in my heart // I heard a whisper // a howling // I could not escape

ghostly moonlight // something stirring // something suppressed // silence // silence // a beating heart // I could do nothing

I disappeared // passed into moonlight and faded away

my mouth // her tongue // her teeth // my neck // a hand // nearer, nearer // shivering in ecstasy

drinking death // I took my breaking heart and sucked it, like fruit // a river the color of crushed grapes

dread is overpowering me // awful terror // he vanished

we were sleep-walking // some sort of shadow growing // I do not sleep // I gasp for air

Here there was a surrender // here, a weeping // we passed into twilight // into darkness

I beg // I beg // I beg // make it stop

in the darkness I looked back // in the darkness I felt lonely // you are a stranger to me now

you look at me // eyes on my lips // with a sigh, I said: // I miss you

We saw the black hills // the dark vineyards // we heard the song of the stream

I saw the descent of the sun reflected in you // I am haunted

sweet mournful sadness // my heart was gone // was silent
