This sounds like something that would be playing in a story set in Victorian London slums or something? I DON’T KNOW.
ITS A GODDAMN SHANTY
its appropriate anywhere from the wild west to a pirate ship to imperial russia a jaunty steampunk adventure to one impressive bard
ok this shit FUCKS
moments from my merlin rewatch
And they never followed up on this either 😠😠 Arthur never found out that Dragoon didn’t kill Uther, that it was Morgana all along.
That was a really cool moment with Gaius. It’s these things that made me hope for better storylines but they didn’t really deliver on it.
However @thegreymoon I remember that Gaius does tell Arthur about this later, in a throwaway line like “by the way Arthur, it wasn’t that Sorcerer…” but it’s so random and not really an effective reveal, just a line, so it’s easy to miss it. I remember thinking how they wasted that opportunity and why Gaius didn’t tell him earlier!
Can someone help me out? When does Gaius tell him?
Wait… I thought this was that scene? That’s what I was talking about, anyway, that one scene when Gaius tells Arthur that Dragoon was honestly trying to help and did his best for Uther, but then never told him about Morgana’s counter-spell that actually killed him. They never followed up on it and Arthur never knew the entire truth, that it was Morgana’s magic, not Dragoon’s, that killed Uther. I could be misremembering, though?
It is, you’re right. The dialogue before this is when Gaius tells Arthur that Morgana got no information from him, and then Arthur asks why Gaius lied about Dragoon. Gaius replies, “I chose to protect him. I feared you would seek him out and execute him. That would’ve been a grave mistake. The sorcerer did not kill your father. Uther was dying. He tried everything in his power to save him.“ (Which would have been a great moment for Arthur to lean in, ask how he knows, and learn about good magic, but I digress…) But I thought that there was a scene after Arthur knows Agravaine is the traitor where Gaius shows him the pendant? I can’t find anything about it now that I’m trying to Google for it though. Did that happen? Or did I just read it in a fanfic and have it stick vividly enough in my mind that I mentally inserted it into canon?
IDK, I don’t remember that? OMG, that would have been great!!
If the pendant was ever shown, it was probably a deleted scene. It unfortunately never happened on actual canon that I can remember of
To my knowledge Arthur never knows that Dragoon didn’t kill Uther. Gaius shows the pendant to Merlin later that same day, like “oh btw I found this on Uther so its not your fault”
The episode this screen cap is from is the one with the Catha, where Agravaine convinces Arthur that Gaius is hiding shit, which to be fair is true, and they question Gaius. Gaius is then kidnapped by the Catha and tortured for info that he eventually divulges. And Arthur is more or less apologizing for not believing Gaius and Gaius is telling him that he needs to get over his fears of people who aren’t like him because a lot of them have and will (Merlin) sacrificed so much for Arthur and Arthurs continued survival and kingship

covid19 is exposing that everything we think is real like money and politicians and celebrities is totally made up and the things that actually are real like human compassion and social consciousness and love are genuinely necessary for survival
when this corona virus finally goes away one day we will all look back and see that it was not the billionaires or millionaires that saved us, but the nurses, doctors, every single customer service person, teachers, scientists and just the general public and that’s on that.
