The Internet of Things (IoT) -the technology that can network ordinary objects, along with 5G and other emerging technologies has great potential in the near future. This combination of new technologies will make everyday life much easier. For example, IoT provides smart appliances such as a refrigerator that tells you the expiry date from food labels or a smart environment that warns you about an upcoming weather alert. This of course is possible because of 5G, which efficiently allows multiple devices to be connected without lag. 5G also expands the capacity of our digital devices such as our phones, allowing great quantities and types of data to be smoothly transferred from device to device. These subtle changes in different areas, in a way makes life much more systemized with limited attention spent on them.
IoT functions through the use of IP address, making things easier to track down. In a digital future where IoT becomes common, if for instance the remote for the TV is missing, you can easily locate it. This notion also applies with people, with backpacks or jackets networked, a lost child will be easier and quicker to find.
Digitally extended realties, where reality meets the virtual world can undoubtedly provide great experiences in terms of entertainment such as gaming consoles available today, but they also have a much greater potential. This technology can become the basis of a whole new digital world, where we can interact with people through an augmented reality without barriers such as distance. During situations such as a pandemic, when schools and universities have to shift to virtual learning, students can have an in-person experience in a virtual classroom from their home, of course with further advancement of this technology. This can also help advancements in the medical field, allowing surgeons to practice surgery virtually. The possibilities are endless!

The original plan is to create an AI that is able to detect a personās emotions taking account their outward appearance. This AI type will be in the form of a reactive machine form similar to Deep Blue, the supercomputer that beat the worldās chess champion in chess in the 90ās. Like Deep Blue, this AI has a single job and will also utilize the processing method of having every possible outcome available in respond to every possible factor. Although Deep blue was simply calculating moves, this AI will be taking three factors into account and will be equipped with sensors that will essentially feed this information into it, without human intervention.
Since this AI has a single function, artificial intelligence through programming will suffice. In this case, the very sought out machine learning and deep learning, will simply be a waste of time and resources. This will ultimately make this project more expensive than it should be, depleting its genuine intent, which is to help others.
The sensors will input a personās facial expressions, body temperature and posture, process this and output the data stating the emotions. This AI is different from others because it is more accurate. For instance, a person may be smiling from on the outside, but in reality, they may be feeling the exact opposite. This AI helps people truly understand how the other person is feeling through its sensors.
Sometimes it is difficult to perceive and distinguish what a family or friend is feeling, especially if they arenāt very expressive, making the root of the issue, if they are upset, even harder to address.
This AI will be equipped with computer vision and facial recognition so that it will be able to recognize and process emotions, by of course someoneās face and the posture. A thermal imager and digital thermometer will also be provided.

The game begins by explaining the importance of cyber security because malware has been an ongoing threat to companies. In order to increase defense against cyber crimes, certain challenges must be completed. The first challenge was about coding. The ultimate purpose of this challenge was to secure the companyās data by hiding it in mazes which only the company can solve and therefore retrieve data. This helps the company to secure their ideas and information. The second challenge was about securing passwords. It explained how to keep a suitable password and how a good password will prevent hackers from breaching into your account. This will therefore secure your identity and keep you away from being a victim of cyber-criminality, such as having your money stolen. Lastly, in the social engineering challenge, we needed to identify phishing emails that could potentially trick you into giving private information such as personal or financial information. Hackers will try to do so to try to steal your online identity and pose as you. The purpose of this challenge was to recognize email scams through its contents. Recognizing such will help secure your online identity (e.g., keep you from giving your bank account number), and therefore will keep you secure from cyber-criminality.

Our public service announcement is based on the ethics of Photoshop. Photoshop has been the topic of debate in the recent years. The ethics of photoshop are not limited to social media filters, but also come into question in online advertising. Is it ethical to use photoshop in advertising? What are the implications of displaying something that isnāt completely true as true? Ā
Photoshop sets unrealistic standards for beauty. While it is more commonly accepted that the use of photoshop online may be detrimental to teenagers, the effect it has on older adults is not so well known. All of us will grow old and inevitably age; itās simply a part of life. There are countless deceptive ads that will promise you a product that will stop aging. Ads may feature an older individual with seemingly flawless skin. It is highly likely that some form of āretouchingā has been used. However, ads wonāt admit this.
Although exaggerated, the image featured in our PSA displays the drastic change editing can achieve. Hiding wrinkles in real life is difficult, but with a single touch on Pixlr (photo editing website), they were nowhere to be seen. Older individuals may be unaware of how widespread photoshop has become, or even the concept of it, therefore being easily deceived. There is no product that will make a person look 20 years younger after a few uses. If an ad sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Ā

Misinformation: https://twitter.com/blossomhacks/status/1135970221439643648?lang=en
This is an example of misleading content. This claim is baseless, failing to provide conclusive evidence. Similarly, rice manufacturers as a whole are being targeted. It is implausible that all rice bags contain plastic in them. This clearly goes against Health Canadaās food regulations and USAās FDA guidelines, but managed to scare many viewers residing there. Like this module explains, Facebook has a āfact checkerā to prevent the spread of misinformation, making it hard to contemplate how this video passed this algorithm. After millions of views, this video was finally removed from Facebook, but harm was done. Viewers were misled.
Disinformation: https://itsblossom.com/blog/2018/10/13/10-science-food-tricks/
This article was also produced by the same company under the name of āBlossomā, with an even crazier false claim. They write that if a heated piece of coal is added to peanut butter, when removed will reveal a diamond. This example is not misleading, rather it is far more severe and has no intent of good behind it. It is completely fabricated and the company knows this but created it just for views. This can be identified as disinformation because it sounds too good to be true. If this wasnāt fake everyone would be millionaires running around with diamonds.
Mal-information: https://twitter.com/ign/status/1116106600182362112
This trailer compares scenes from the old 1994 lion king movie, to the new live action version that got released in 2019. Ā This has received many hate comments. Amongst them there is one comment explaining that it looks āhorribleā and should be taken down. Just because someone doesnāt like something, it doesnāt justify calling it names. This is hurtful towards the producers that have put a lot of effort into creating this. These kinds of comments are easily identifiable by readers because often hurtful and strong language is used, such as in this case āhorribleā. Ā

NikkieTutorials has been growing on YouTube since 2008. Like many other Youtube stars, she communicates with her audience on platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. In terms of self-presentation, Nikki portrays great āauthenticityā by being very transparent on Youtube (her primary platform) and by being active on social media .In this post, Nikki is promoting a cosmetic product using emojis and exclamation marks, similar to how friends may message each other when they encounter something exciting. Through this level of informality, though Nikki may be promoting a product, she achieves doing so verily, which is consistent to her online presence.Ā
In my opinion, the secret to Nikkiās success is her self-branding. Nikki checks every category on Goldie Chanās golding rules of personal branding. Nikki quite literally promotes herself which is understandable, since most of the time she is applying makeup on herself. Since she is a makeup-artist , to people -specifically her target audience, she qualifies to give an expert opinion. She has also had an active presence online for a while, and has been a very positive figure, establishing trust in her growing fan base. All these factors allow Nikki to put herself and her expertise out there, attracting potential sponsors, enabling her to sell their products and endorsing her own.
Like Nikki, Rae is also a Youtuber. Rae is an artist who routinely posts Art videos and tutorials. Her target audience is limited to those who are interested in Art, whether they are artists or not. Even though Rae is providing a service, self-branding and self-presentation plays a crucial role, as she is an online figure. She too, like Nikki, has been around for long and has achieved āauthenticityā by being relatable to her viewers. On Twitter, Rae promotes her YouTube channel which is her primary platform. Through this poll, Rae also intends to be engaging with her audience on a different premise.Ā
Teaching on YouTube, in contrast to the traditional classroom setting, is a revolutionary change in the modern world, which enabled wide-spread access to many subjects . Both Nikki and Rae were one of the first people in their respective areas of expertise to introduce their content online. Their innovative ideas and interactivity with viewers has allowed millions of people (myself included) to benefit from their content and has allowed them to use their audienceās demand to do what they love.Ā
