The anti-mask brain rot is penetrating the hospital system in a terrifying fashion.

Masks are necessary for accessing central lines, and more and more nurses are starting to have issues with wearing a mask during STERILE PROTOCOL.

These lines are going right into our hearts and nurses are throwing tantrums about having to cover up their faces for 5 minutes.

This has not happened at my infusion center personally but I have mutuals and friends who have had to beg their nurses to put on the mask that literally comes in the sterile access kit.

To clarify since this is gaining notes fast:

This is a port, an example of a central line. You need to have a mask on when you flush the needle and put it into the reservoir in the chest, then put the dressing on. There’s a catheter from the reservoir that goes into the top of the heart.

There are other central lines like PICCs, Broviacs, and Hickman lines that look like peripheral IVs, but they’re still “central” and go into a central vein. Both access and dressing changes need to be done with a sterile mask and gloves.

Because of the access to the heart, the risk of bacteremia and sepsis from contamination is high.

There is a simple solution to this. Tell the nurse if they refuse to mask up that they have to put on the form that they refused to put on the mask to ensure a sterile environment so that if there is an infection, there is a legal trail by which insurance companies can follow in regards to a malpractice lawsuit.

And my spouse's wife died of sepsis. It is not a pleasant way to die. Any nurse who refuses to mask up because it's inconvenient and thus risks causing sepsis is a threat to public health and should be sued into oblivion.

Propaganda im ZDF

Das Versagen des deutschen Journalismus kann man mal wieder exemplarisch beim jüngsten ZDF-Interview mit Ex-BuPräsi Gauck erleben:

Man erlaubt Politikern unwidersprochen, Verschwörungstheorien zu verbreiten. Gauck sagte:

Zuwanderung begrenzen ist moralisch nicht verwerflich und politisch geboten.

Das ist ganz klar ein Strohmann-Argument. Er tut so, als ob Zuwanderung ohne Begrenzung jemals ernsthaft auf der politischen Agenda gestanden hätte, bzw. als ob es sie je gegeben hätte. Beides ist nicht und war nie der Fall, auch nicht im Jahre 2015 als Deutschland im Rahmen europäischer Solidarität die Durchführung von Anerkennungsverfahren für den Flüchtlingsstatus zugelassen hat, auch wenn die entsprechenden Personen in einem anderen EU-Land (Griechenland oder Italien) den Boden der Union betreten hatten. Warum redet Gauck also überhaupt von Situationen, die nicht existieren, nie existiert haben und auch in absehbarer Zeit nicht existieren werden? Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten:

Gauck ist so senil, dass er den rechtsextremen Verschwörungstheorien (Bei uns kann jeder reinkommen) aufgesessen ist.

Er agiert bewusst demagogisch im Rahmen einer politischen Agenda (Wir wollen nicht so viele fremdländische Menschen bei uns).

Im ersten Fall, wäre es Aufgabe des Senders gewesen, ihn sanft auf seinen Irrtum aufmerksam zu machen und das Interview im Interesse des Persönlichkeitsschutzes einer offensichtlich geistig debilen Person nicht auszustrahlen.

Im zweiten, seine Propaganda als solche zu entlarven. Insbesondere wäre es die Aufgabe gewesen, ihn aus dem nebulösen Schwadronieren in die Wirklichkeit zu holen:

Was genau will Gauck eigentlich?

Die Freizügigkeit in der EU beenden?

Keine Fachkräfte im Ausland anwerben?

Das Grundrecht auf Asyl und die Genfer Flüchtlingskonvention abschaffen?

Jegliche europäische Solidarität einstellen?

Lieber Flüchtende im Meer ertrinken oder an Grenzzäunen verbluten zu lassen, als ihnen ein rechtsstaatliches Anerkennungsverfahren zu gewähren?

Tatsächlich sind Demagog*innen wie Gauck nur ein Teil des Problems. Das andere ist ein Journalismus, der es permanent gestattet, unwidersprochen Verschwörungstheorien zu verbreiten.

Menschen, die im Journalismus tätig sind und dies zulassen, kennen kein Berufsethos und sollten mindestens im ÖRR keinen Platz haben.

On this day, 24 July 1961, Kredelle Petway was arrested at Jackson airport in Mississippi along with her brother, father and another man. Petway, who was born in Alabama but was studying in Tallahassee, Florida, had travelled back home to participate in a freedom ride from Montgomery to Jackson. one time in my last job a woman came up to the register explaining that when she bought stuff a day prior the clerk forgot to scan a pair of socks worth less than €2 and it was only right for her to bring it back to the store and pay for it proper. unfortunately my manager was directly next to me at the time and took over the register to handle this serious issue. the receipt she had brought with her said which register performed the previous transaction that forgot the socks and the manager could find out who was running that till on that day. poor dude had a manager yell at him for a half hour about how much of an incompetent fuck up he was, he left the job immediately after but i couldnt tell you if he quit or was fired

i think about this moment a lot. the customer seemed like a sweet woman with only good intentions and when she paid for the socks she had a look on her face that said "i feel good because i did the right thing". and a guy lost his job because of a pair of socks. if shit like this ever happens to you and a clerk forgets to scan an item just think of it as a small blessing or that you had good luck or something. keep it.

disabled people deserve more than the bare minimum to live tbh. and i don't mean in the "oh we have extra costs that makes being disabled more expensive" - which is true, but i'm counting those in the budget to live. disabled people also deserve enough money to buy treats, nice clothes, fund their hobbies, take a trip away, and so on. being disabled shouldn't force you into a life of frugality and poverty

I am not making this a ‘trans people versus feminists against lookism’ issue. You may require plastic surgery in your lifetime as well. Anyone could. The line of where plastic surgery is frivolous and driven by vanity or necessary for maintaining or creating a greater quality of life is far thinner than you think. That nose job may have been motivated by Eurocentric beauty standards or it may have been motivated by the desire to correct a deviated septum. I am saying that at a time when we are all losing our bodily autonomy and access to medical care at an alarming rate, now is not the time to be writing treatises on why access to certain forms of healthcare is bad.
