Grateful for the change of subject, Clarisse looked back to Glass. “Not really, they haven’t told me much, but I hope soon. I’ve never been one for hospitals or anything like one.
“I figured you would not be. Hopefully you will get out soon… And possibly hurt the Hermes kids for nasty comments about the twins”
Clarisse’s face darkened, “What are the Hermes kids saying about the twins?” She asked through gritted teeth.
She chuckled at his discomfort, finding it funny. “Nope, too damned stubborn. She really only lets me hold, but you can try.”
Hartley glanced at her before turning down the volume of his hearing aids. He picked Alayla up and waited a few moments to see if she would cry.
Clarisse rolled her eyes as he turned down his hearing aides. Can he really not handle the sound of a baby crying? she thought. As he held Alayla she didn’t seem to cry like she had with all of the other visitors who had held her.
hartley-magnus:
“No… I was just stating– whatever.” Hartley shook his head and gently put Jocelyn back on the crib. “Alayla doesn’t do well with people? May I?”
She chuckled at his discomfort, finding it funny. “Nope, too damned stubborn. She really only lets me hold, but you can try.”

Clarisse heard the door to the room open as the other person stepped in. She was still in the infirmary and h daughters where in little cribs next to her.
“Hey Clarisse” Aly said smiling as she walked towards her “How are you feeling? Oh! I brought this for you” She said while showing some flowers “and this for your kids” Aly said while pulling out of her bag a Stitch and a Mickey Mouse plush toy.
Clarisse didn’t expect to see Alyssa there, she had been gone on presumably a vacation for a while, and no one was sure if and when she would come back to camp. “Hey, I have been better,” She stifled a grunt of pain and smiled, “That is very thoughtful of you, you know you didn’t have to...” She trailed off.
“Alayla and Jocelyn. Alayla has brown eyes and Jocelyn has blue.” Clarisse said, nodding so that he could hold her. “Yeah that’s fine, as long as it’s Jocelyn, she is better with people.
Hartley carefully cradled Jocelyn in his arms. “They’re beautiful, Clarisse,“ he mumbled as he started humming as he rocked her slowly. "Beautiful names as well.”
“What did you expect? Little monsters?” She asked in a faux annoyed tone. “Thank you.” She said, amazed how he got on with Jocelyn so easily.

Hartley quickly walked to the babies, smiling once he saw them. “And their names…? I’m pretty sure I can help with anything as long as you name it, really. May I?” He gestured to a baby, asking if he could hold her.
“Alayla and Jocelyn. Alayla has brown eyes and Jocelyn has blue.” Clarisse said, nodding so that he could hold her. “Yeah that’s fine, as long as it’s Jocelyn, she is better with people.
“I don’t know if I would say that,” She sighed, trying to stall for the next question. “No.” She said through clenched teeth.
Glass sighed at her response “I am sorry to hear that. I am sure he’ll show up soon” she said as she looked down at Jocelyn with a soft smile
“I just don’t want to talk about it, okay?” She said, avoiding the subject. It wasn’t something she wanted to talk about because it wasn’t something that she was very happy about it.

“Help in what exactly?” Hartley still stayed by the door, unsure if he was allowed to see the twins. He just nodded, not wanting to push Clarisse after hearing what she has been through.
“Anything, parenting, childing, literally anything. I have no idea what I’m doing.” She nodded over to the babies, signaling him to come in. The past few days had been a whirlwind and she was still trying to cope everything that had happened.

“Sure” she said picking up one of the twins, she was just as tiny as she remembered “which one is this?” She asked looking up at Clarisse.
“That one is Jocelyn, you can tell by the blue eyes.” Clarisse said, gingerly picking up Alayla and holding the baby close to her chest. “She’s better with people.”

“I’m sorry, I know we’re not close or anything but yeah, if you’d like any help, I’m good with kids since you know, son of Hebe…” Hartley trailed off awkwardly. “Are you doing fine?”
“Help would be great actually, I have no idea what I’m doing. Xavier, he was the one that was good at all of this stuff.” She admitted. “I am fine,” She lied.

“I just heard about you giving birth to the twins and I’d just like to say congratulations.” Hartley was still awkward around Clarisse but it was in his nature to be attracted to youth since he was a son of Hebe.
“So nice of you...” She trailed off, confused as to why he was there to see her. The two of them didn’t really get along and they weren’t friends, but all of her close friends were AWOL so at this point, she would take anyone she could get.
