Headcanon:

Shinigami is straight outta Japan. Born into a family of hermit sorceresses from Kyoto. Her mom taught her to read fortunes in water flows but also to read the soul of the world through cracks in stones and ripples on the surface. Plus she could weave illusions that could fool even demons. That’s how their family style got its name — “Moon Shadow Magic” (Geika-jutsu). At 11 her mom sent her off to a ninjutsu master living in a temple on a cliff. Dude was deaf and strict as hell but she learned to turn her magical flexibility into deadly skill with a kusarigama.

At 17 she’s coming back from a mission when she runs into some cocky dark-haired chick with a sword — Karai. One thing leads to another: Shinigami calls Karai’s fighting style “clumsy hacking” and Karai fires back that Shinigami’s magic is “cheap carnival tricks”. So they throw down a little. But their scuffle gets spotted by Foot Clan trackers who are loyal to Shredder — the ones who’ve been hunting Karai for a while. The girls get ambushed and have to call off their fight. Right then they gotta team up to survive and break through the Foot goons. They manage to take down the ninjas and get out.

In that moment they both realize their little beef was pointless. Karai admits that Shinigami’s magic and fighting style are actually intriguing as hell. So they start vibing and get closer. For weeks they roam around Japan together looking for allies to take down Shredder.

Honestly it depends on the TMNT version. I rank them by personality. In the 2003 series theyre all my favorites I cant even pick a least favorite. In 2012 Im neutral toward Leo Donnie and Raph but Mikey lowkey hits different lmao. Everyones got their own opinion though😌

Headcanon:

As a child Xever Montes was a thief and a delinquent. His parents were so poor they could not properly provide for him. Xever had to steal money or food to survive. At age fifteen he met Vitor Sousa. Vitor lured him into a serious and dangerous criminal world. Xever was forced to abandon his parents to save himself. Together with Vitor they first robbed small businesses and then moved on to banks. They both came to New York to continue their life of crime there. During one particular heist Vitor betrayed Xever by turning him over to the police. He used Xever to gain fame for himself and to divert suspicion from his own actions. Naturally Xever was sent to prison.

After about two months Oroku Saki came to him. Shredder had learned of his skills as a thief and his background. He had Xever released from prison so that he would work for him and steal only what was necessary. Xever had no choice but to obey. They then returned to Japan. There Xever met Chris Bradford. Bradford was a warrior completely devoted to his master. He immediately showed his hostility toward Xever and said "You are an outsider here and unworthy of our clan's honor." Xever preferred to ignore Bradford's taunts. But Bradford began to humiliate him openly during training sessions in front of other fighters. From that point on Xever grew to hate Bradford for being arrogant selfish and vain and above all hypocritical. Xever became even more irritated when Shredder assigned them to work together on joint missions. Yet no matter how hard Chris tried to set Xever up Montes remained too valuable to Oroku Saki because of his agility and experience in thievery.
