Maria took a sip of her slushy. “I’m gonna be real with you chief. That just ain’t it.”

Maria nodded, gaining a stern look. “You better be careful with those ‘independent’ scientist. Untrustworthy, the lot of them.” She put finger quotations around the word independent. “Not to mother you, I’ve just seen a lot of shady folks call themselves that.”
Matt nodded. “I found the guy thinking he might be causing trouble, but we worked something out that was mutually beneficial for us both.” He paused. “I do like to keep an eye out for other troublemakers though.”
She decides to ignore the moral quandary of that, Not like she had any sort of moral high ground. Ever. "Funny how those things work out. But-" Maria shuffles and shakes her hand again.
"Its nice to know someone else is looking out for this poor area,-" She absentmindedly kicked a lone soda can. " I tried but, I'm not exactly the strongest-" Her grin takes a slightly wicked look. "I can imagine the scars kinda help you in that field though." her hand is almost healed now, its still a light fleshy pink and somewhat bloody, however there is no noticeable gore.
