Danmei has COMPLETELY wrecked my perception of slow burn because what do you mean characters in western novels get together at the end of book 1, babes they shouldnāt even be holding hands until AT LEAST book 3.

Newfound Danmei Problem:
Scrolling through Pinterest to look at fanart and having to decipher which character it is via context clues (*cough cough* the recommended searches) because itās all gorgeous men with high ponytails and white/green robes
Does anyone else absolutely devour every piece of fan art they see but canāt help but wish that some characters were drawn with more ethnic features??
Donāt get me wrong artists are so talented and under appreciated and can single handedly bring communities together, itās just sometimes when Iām looking for fan art of certain characters (especially in Danmei-č½ē¾) I feel saddened by the lack of ethnicity shown.
Itās probably just me being nit-picky about something that isnāt that deep, itās just that as a Chinese person myself, these characters share the same background and sometimes I itch for that spark of representation only to feel like Iām looking at a white man in hanfu.
But I have seen many great works of art and representation so maybe Iām just looking in all the wrong places š¤·āāļø
