Guys I finished up the refs of my dragon ball OCs... I even finished polishing their lore... Oh my god.. Ok. Ok here we go, quick before I can change my mind-
The MTNT squad is a special unit within the Frieza Force that has, unfortunately, been forgotten about (notably because of like Frieza dying and stuff, but also because managing the squad was a bit... tricky. too tricky, mayhaps. too much trouble, indeed.). The project initially only included Hiyo and Candy, which Frieza himself set out to find, but they gained the three other members after traveling space for a while (without the emperor) before finally settling on one faraway colony of the empire to supervise it (on planet Frieza 875). Hiyo is the captain of the squad, which is composed entirely of mutants from various species. Frieza observed with himself that hey, mutants are quite strong, I might as well have super powerful mutant soldiers, it would be very advantageous to have a couple ones on hand if need be (and then boom, he died on Namek- anyways). The MTNT squad is not necessaruily exceptionally strong, but they are ridiculously tough, and can endure a fight for a looooottt longer, even if their opponent is stupidly strong.
Hiyo: he is the captain of the squad, and also technically the strongest thanks to his psychic powers. However, where Frieza's powers and super strength were caused by a mutation, Hiyo's power trigger mutations. Because of this, he's permanently stuck between second and final form, and his tail is larger than average and hard to move around, so more often than not, he just drags it behind him. To exist, a great source of power needs a very strong body and so his powers are trying to modify his body so they can exist. This leads to him having to eat people (preferably strong warriors), or otherwise great amounts of food to properly maintain himself.
Breeze: he is in charge of the food supply on the squad's main (and only) base. He cultivates various fruits, vegetables, but trades with the locals of the planets for meats, surplus and such (when the squad does not outright seize materials), which they need a lot of because of Hiyo's powers. He takes his role within the squad very seriously. His fighting style leans more towards speed, physical blows and agility and a lot less ki. he utilizes his tail and double-jaw to his advantage quite often. He crawls into tight spaces to escape more stubborn opponents chasing him, too.
Candy: he is basically the swiss knife of the squad. Medic, surgeon, technician, engineer, computer mastermind, you name it. He's not at all involved in fights and is in charge of most types of maintenance around the base! He's also the emotional support guy. Him being a mutant granted him a great multitasking ability, but not really any advantages in fights. That does not make him any less important, though, and the squad would definitely be very weakened without him. (fun fact; because of Matcha's frequent transformations, Candy invented a gun to fix ripped clothing. It’s selling like crazy once he gets back onto the Frieza mothership)
Mogu: a timid man, but a very reliable one. He cares deeply about the squad and sees them as his family, as they have taken him in when no one else did. He gives his all for them and WILL give his life for them if need be. It was hard to get him to trust the rest of the members, but eventually, everyone's efforts paid off! His fighting style relies more on brute strength and hindering the movements / capacitites of the opponent. Unlike other sayians, he cannot turn super sayian, but he can't turn into a Great Ape either, and that's why he is a mutant. That is also why his family abandoned him - he was perceived as too weak to survive, and rather than being met with the death of their offspring, his parents banished him to one of the moons of planet Vegeta, so he could die far away from them. But Mogu survived, and eventually was taken in by the MTNT squad before the total destruction of the planet.
Matcha: He was initially following in the footsteps of Zarbon before being affected to the squad just before the Namek saga. He wanted to make sure Frieza would uphold his end of the deal with Zarbon, but unfortunately he was pushed away from all this when he was integrated in the MTNT squad. He's a big advantage thanks to his transformation, and much like Mogu, his fighting style leans more towards heavy weight attacks, entrapment and incapacitating the opponent (not only thanks to his muscle mass but also to his venom!). He's also in charge of negotiations and relationships between the squad and outside groups; he's got backbone, experience, and charisma. But he's also a gambler, unfortunately, and he's definitely been screwed over at least once when trying to make a bargain because of this. Don't mention it though. It never happened, actually.
the mandela catalogue, also known as "These People Can't Catch A Break" Simulator (short lore yap below)
I like to think that the first kill is very important because it helps the alternate truly get a grasp of what it is + it helps them determine their hunting style and even the type of alternate they are!! So yeagh. It's kind of therapeutic and helps Adam get a proper hold of himself. And that's why after killing Noah (or like inflicting him with M.A.D at the very least) he can see himself clearly for a brief moment. It's him. The alternate. But it's still Adam. The original Adam didn't get to grow up after being taken by Six, so he's still a unique individual, not imitating anyone else, and I think that's why Alex Kister named him Adam- because he's the first of his kind. An alternate, yes, but still a person.
... Can you tell I love themes of identity crisis- ... maybe its because I wish someone had been there for me during mine like Judas is to Adam. Idk.
... OK maybe I mixed up the dates in vol.6 A LITTLE BIT but like idk. I just- it's more simple for me to do it like that; to bring closer the events when Adam fled the police station and when he lured Noah in.. And make them separated by a few weeks at best and like- WHO CARES ACTUALLY if alternates can travel through electric devices I bet it means they can travel at the speed of light and so I wouldn't be surprised if it meant they could also time travel. Also I do what I want.
... Also maybe time doesn’t mean anything anymore in Mandela County PFF
It took me a thousand years to redo this but I finally did fellas
The one year difference between this one and the original is crazyyyy
look at me thinking I drew something tuff bruh. anyways- RENDERING SAVES ME AGAIN OH LAWS
I tried to give Judas a bit of a more 2000s-ish haircut so he did loose his curls... But I tried not to make him loose too much volume; idk if I did that correctly and either way you can't see it all in that drawing PFFFF anyways
MANDELA TYPE SHIT 🗣🗣 I need to draw in this style more. With harsh shadows like that OUGH HELL YEAH
sooo for a little bit of context for those who are intersted; Thatcher didn't know that Judas was an alternate. He only knew that Adam met the guy on Dove Messenger; during the time Adam stayed in Davis' care, he'd asked the lieutenant to find Judas, and he did. Judas helped out Adam with his transformation and Thatcher thought "oh wow, this young man isn't letting himself fall victim to M.A.D and isn't scared to take care of the kid, that's definitely good."
After some time passed and Adam got better he started to wonder if something was going on between the two, since Adam was more and more often staying at Judas’ apartment... And uh he found out there. They are, indeed, together, and also Judas is an alternate 😭😭 he can't catch a break damn
We all have a little jester somewhere in our hearts- and Ive come to the unfortunate realization that I, too, have a lil jester in my heart. It’s about time I properly accept this side of myself .... so here's mine;
Say hi. Say hi to him. Kiss his little head right now
