04.05. I got my histology results back today and I got 97% which is way higher than what I aimed for. I rewarded myself with a free evening reading in the sun 🌻

5.4.18 12:33 PM // Happy Star Wars Day! Back at Crematology but doing A2 Chemistry this time. also I have an eye strain bc of focusing on one direction for too long (at least that’s what i read) so I decided to listen to podcasts and look around during my breaks. Went on an electronics break yesterday which definitely helped, but the strain’s still there.
Anyway, hope y’all are doing great, and good luck to anyone taking A Levels!
Next week is exam week 😱

21 May 2016 6/40 Days of Productivity
Finished our case study over chips and cookies. The student centre is so dead now that it’s summer, so there’s actually places to sit and study!
A little corner of my apartment.
Dear Duke, I have had a pretty healthy life in college, the anxiety and hyperactivity aside, there's 6-7 hours of sleep, I study well enough, manage time real good, work quite well under stress and I'm sure academia is The One for me. However and im aware this might sound very dumb, all my friends are losing sleep, having irregular eating patterns and i...just don't? And it makes me feel like I'm not doing enough. Being healthy in academia is not a myth right? I'm not doing something wrong am i?
Okay. Dude. Worrying you’re doing something wrong because you’re living a healthy lifestyle is nuts. If you’re healthy and happy and you’re doing good work, keep doing exactly what you’re doing, and don’t worry about anybody else. In academia we have a really bad, toxic tendency to romanticize/normalize exhaustion, obsession, and overwork, but please God do not let that Rory Gilmore narrative fool you. Because not only will it hurt you personally, but it also perpetuates the institutionalized abuse of labor in academia, the accepted practice of giving professors, grad students, and undergrads way too much work. If we all assume we’re supposed to be staggering under the weight of our workloads and just accept it as oh, just part of the culture, who the fuck is going to stop administrations from taking advantage of that? Suffering for your education does not make you a better student or scholar or even necessarily mean you’re working harder. It means something is wrong, either with your workload or how you work. Not to mention, it makes you pissy and tired and probably prevents you from doing good work. This is not to say that people who experience academic exhaustion are all doing it through some fault of their own. It’s to say that sleep and stress issues are not the hallmark of a good student or scholar. Do not buy into or fall for that woe-is-me, I’m-so-fatigued-by-my-devotion-to-my-work, suffering genius bullshit. Exhaustion doesn’t make anybody’s work better, and nobody who actually has these issues wants them. As someone who hasn’t slept through the night in probably a month–chronic insomnia is a problem I have that goes back to way before academia–I speak from experience.
So: instead of worrying about this, be super stoked that you’ve found a great work-life balance and try to maintain it, because that is a gift which (as you’ve noticed) not everyone has. Count yourself lucky and do not convince yourself you have to be miserable to be a good student or scholar.
You’re unstoppable
Go study for your finals. Write that paper and finish that presentation. Study those flash cards. Stop procrastinating, have more trust in you and get off your phone.

Views from the 23rd floor ft. Dreary winter weather! Trying to cram in as much studying as I can before the sun sets…I live super far up north so I don’t get as much day light as I’d like haha. Today’s todo list involves biochem enzyme assay prep for tomorrow’s lab session, two atomic physics assignments, and some drug analytics notes 🔬happy studying, I’ve only had this blog for a few days, but thanks for the followers already! Happy Thursday loves💓

I’m super pleased with myself today. I was super productive this morning: I worked a bit on my dissertation on V. Woolf/feminism and started working on my grammar homework YAYY!
So now I’m going to read Orlando and chill on the couch because I deserve it! 🙌🏻
18.1.18 // 6/? Third Year
Boy oh boy is term 2 going to be absolutely brutal. I like being able to lay out my days hour by hour, rather than just having a long to-do list, so this has been my go-to layout for a while.
